build 606 to edit a previous winhelp project, and when I try to
save the document I get a RoboHelp dialog box advising, "The
product is not installed correctly. The RoboHelp RTF converter
cannot be found." I can't seem to find any info on this. Any ideas
(as Word will not let me save my changes).

Also, I got Word error 1057 (outta nowhere), but was able to
circumvent with

RoboHelp 7 trial: no extension?

this is rather frustrating. i've used up my thirty
day trial period for RoboHelp 7, and contacted adobe to request a
two week extension (something that the competitors are more than
willing to do). however, i was told no, no can do. for two little
weeks extra?

as a long time robohelp user (since 1996), i then asked to
escalate this request to the product manager, and was told there is
no product manager for RoboHelp 7. are they kidding me????

in the everyday world, it simply cannot be possible to stop
the work for which you get paid to test new software eight hours a
day, 30 days in a row (unless of course you are a tester, which i
am not). two weeks is not long to ask for an extension, but to be
told flat out no? i then asked for an escalation to a customer
service manager, but was told there were none available (again, are
they kidding me????).

this bureaucratic red tape and lack of service is enough to
make me switch to the folks at flare (who are eager to answer
questions, extend trials, and chomping at the bit to recruit
robohelp folks) or author-it (who are equally as happy to help me).

ahhh, i feel better.

RoboHelp 7 trial: conditional tags

i'm using the trial version of RoboHelp 7.0 and attempting to
generate HTML Help while utilizing conditional tags. it's a small
project, only 29 files, but it seems that each time i attempt to
generate excluding certain content (conditional tag: e.g., not
YELLOW), the Updating files...progress bar in the Generating HTML
Help window freezes, and the only way to stop this is to kill the
app. any idea what's going on?

problem with merged help

argggh. ok. i (thought i) followed peter grainge's
merged
help on a simple merged webhelp project, but am having a devil
of a time producing the desired result, and updating the published
files to show what's been merged (e.g., the child projects).

the top-most level of the directory structure i'm using is
called fruits. within that i have ~main and ~sub (with tildes).
within ~sub
i have two child projects: apples and oranges.

when i publish, the resulting toc shows (repeats) the parent
(what's in ~main, not the child projects), and when i look in
explorer, each child project shows the same directory structure as
the parent (including the mergedProjects directory). i'm using
lowercase file names when i generate, and even though i've
specified each, e.g., c:\fruits\testPublish\mergedProjects\apples
and c:\fruits\testPublish\mergedProjects\oranges, the publishing
result shows that the child server details are going to the root
directory (c:\fruits\testPublish).

what the heck? (and btw, i can't get this to work properly
using peter's demo file either.) pls help correct the error of my
ways.

missing logo on output

hi all,

i'm using robohelp 4.1, and have recently updated my custom
skin with a new logo that is no bigger than 97x52 (the logo is used
to replace the "Powered by RoboHelp" button, per Rick Stone's "
Skinny
on Skins" ).

the logo is included in the skin directory as well as in the
baggage file (for good measure), and i can see it fine on my
desktop with the generated webhelp. the problem is that when i move
the newly generated webhelp files to our server, that image does
not appear on the help's toolbar area; it looks like it's missing.

i've gone in the code in the whskin_tbars.htm and checked
that the file is referenced and in the correct location of the
outputted webhelp. i've even tried right-clicking the toolbar area
and selecting "Show Picture" (in IE 6.02), but it still won't show
up.

now i'm at the point of "what the heck!?!" any ideas?
