Control + O to open a file?

Every other application on my computer uses Control + O to open a file, how can I get CFBuilder to do the same?

cfquery vs ORM in Coldfusion 11

Does anyone have any links or resources you can point me to that describes performance diffs between using cfquery and using ORM? I understand that the CF world is already on the ORM bandwagon but I need to get a client some real world numbers regarding the diffs.

Apptacular not working in CFBuilder 3?

I downloaded the new CFBuilder 3 yesterday and went to use the Apptacular plugin to "Generate Application" but received the following error:

Mail not sending from Coldfusion

I recently upgraded from CF8 to CF11 and now CF11 does not seem to be able to send emails.

In CFAdmin, I entered the mail server and settings to the point where, when I Verify Mail Server Connection I get a success message, "Connection Verification Successful", but no email gets sent.

When i view the Log files for Mail in CF I see this error repeatedly:

avax.mail.MessagingException: Could not convert socket to TLS; nested exception is: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

Has anyone else encountered this error? I can post plenty of additional detail if needed, both from the CF server and the Exchange server, if needed.

Using Sprite Sheets?

I created a sprite sheet in Flash and imported it into Edge Animate, all is well.

In Animate I now see the individual cells of the sprite sheet as Symbols, but now what? How do I actually bring each symbol into Animate to duplicate the animation on the Animate timeline? I'm just not seeing the forest through the trees....

Dreamweaver CC Coldfusion 10 extension?

I'm on the road trying to configure Dreamweaver CC for a CF10 project on my laptop.

Back in my office on my server i have DWCC configured using the CF10 extensions and I remember that I used an extensions file with the '.zxp' suffix; for the life of me I can't find that file on the web anywhere. (The .mxp extension simply won't run in the CC extension manager).

Anyone know where it is?

CF11 cflocation BAD REQUEST

What was working fine in CF8:

Now breaks in CF11, I get an error "Bad Request" and then the CSS styles get dumped onto the user's screen.

I read up on the security enhancements to CF11 and noticed the addToken attribute's default had been changed, so I added "addToken=true" but the error persists.

Also, the web server is IIS7.5.

Has anyone else run into this?

Video loop question

I have a video in my composition, it plays/looks nice but I need it to continuously loop.

I moved the playhead to the end of the video and added a trigger:

sym.play(0);

I even tried

this.play(0);

and

sym.$("cubeMovie")[0].play();

but these aren't working.

stop and start video commands?

I have a video that I imported at the 10 second mark of my composition.

I clicked on the video on the stage, and I opened the Actions panel where I added a click event:

sym.stop();

However when the movie is clicked on when the comp runs nothing happens, it still continues to run.

Anyone know how to do this? Ideally I'd like to make a button that toggles the text "video on/off" but for now I'd just like the sanity of knowing why this super simple click is not working.

Found a bug! Import Video not working....

When attempting to import a video using the plus icon in the Library tab I can select the files that I want but the window closes and nothing gets imported. I then have to go to File: Import and select the files from there. However, that process only works one time, if I delete the video files and try to import again nothing happens, either from the File menu or the Library panel.

My configuration:

Mac OSX 10.9.4

32 GB RAM

2.7 ghz 12 core Xeon E5

Adobe Edge Animate CC 2014.0 Release

how do I start a video at 2 seconds?

I imported a video file and no matter what I do I'm unable to get it to start at 2 seconds on the timeline.

The Playback options are seemingly ignored, I've tried using the Play and the Play From.... and the video continues to only play from the very start of the timeline.

Anyone know how this is done, or is it a bug?

In addition to using Edge Animate I also have After Effects and the Adobe Media Encoder.

Does anyone know how to convert a .mp4 video that I created and exported from After Effects to the .ogv format?

Sadly, it looks like I need the .ogv format to get my Animate preso to play in Firefox. Videos embedded into Animate with .mp4 play great on everything except Firefox; Animate docs suggest generating a second HTML5 compliant video type and importing it into Edge Animate....

AEA Action code not working

I'm doing a simple test to help learn Adobe Edge Animate (AEA).

I created a new composition, and created a round rectangle image (RoundRect). With RoundRect selected I click the Open Actions button and:

I add a click event

Under Pick an Action I click Toggle Hide/Show

Under Pick a Target I click RoundRect

The following code gets generated by AEA:

When I publish and view in the browser, the RoundRect iniitially appears, and when clicked it disappears, all as expected. However clicking anywhere on the screen won't get it to appear again.

The Javascript console on my browser is not reporting any errors nor messages.

My expectation was that, since AEA generated this code it would work. Anyone see what I'm missing?

CFGRID, was working in CF8 won't display results in CF11

I recently upgraded a client from CF 8 to CF 11.

In the code is a CFGRID which was working in CF8 but now in CF11 the grid displays but no data appears (the grid is simply empty).

With debugging enabled the Coldfusion Ajax Logger is reporting the following error:

Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier (http://hiddenServer.com/index.cfm?action=job.manageJobOperations&jobId=2395&cfdebug, line 104)

Line 104 is the "</cfgrid>" tag.

Here is cfgrid code, complete with it's bound cfselect statement immediately before it:

</cfgrid>

I've dumped the query that populates the cfselect and there are no empty rows.

The console at the bottom of Chrome simply reports the same error, "Uncaught syntaxError. Unexpected identifier".

Has anyone else encountered this issue? If nothing else I'd love to learn how to debug this error, it seems as if there is some extra data being fed to the cfgrid but I can't seem to trap it....

CF11 host file question

I installed Coldfusion 11 and have created several different CF instances using the Instance Manager. Each instance is available on a different port, so for example http://127.0.0.1:8504/ is a different site than http://127.0.0.1:8502/

What I'd like to do is edit the host file on my Mac (Mavericks) to get http://127.0.0.1:8504/ to resolve to "site4", as an example.

When I edit my host file I typed "127.0.0.1:8504 site4"

But it doesn't seem to work. I'm guessing it has something to do with the port number being present in the url? Yes, I saved the host file and even flushed the DNS but I can't seem to get site4 to resolve to 127.0.0.1:8504....

Any ideas?

Set start time for symbols on timeline?

I built several buttons - made as symbols - that animate onto the screen, and would like to stagger the start times slightly for effect.

I thought I would be able to simply drag the symbols onto the stage and set the start times by clicking/dragging them on the timeline, but that doesn't seem to be working. I see the "Playback" and a + button but regardless of what I try I can't seem to delay the start of the symbol.

Any ideas?

Converted internalServerReporting from .php to .cfm

I posted this on the general discussion forum but it doesn't seem to be getting any looks....

I recently converted the internalServerReporting.php file to .cfm, since I'm not yet using a LMS and I just needed to capture quiz results.

I'm writing the results of my Captivate 7 quiz to a .txt file successfully (an insert query too). My Captivate 7 quiz completes and immediately after the user fills out and clicks the Send button in the Post Results dialog box (where they enter their name and email id) I get an Adobe Captivate error message in a dialog box with "Unknown Error" and an OK button.

I think this is a Captivate error and not a Coldfusion error, as my Coldfusion "internalServerReporting.cfm" writes the text file as expected, and the Coldfusion server error logs are empty. Does anyone know how I can turn on/enable any available debugging data in Captivate so that I can trap this error?
