PSE 7 Screen Brightness

New to PSE7. I'm getting used to PSE7 and thought I saw an adjustment to screen brightness somewhere. Not image brightness and contrast.

I'm trying to adjust my new LCD HP laptop monitor to be less bright and am having no luck finding a way to do that. Can't find manual adjustment buttons or adjustments from Vista. Want to set temperature and gamma.

The ultimate result I want is better printing since my prints aren't matching my monitor.

Any help would be appreciated.

PSE7 on Vista from PSE4 on XP. I can't find paper profiles for my Epson R200 on the Epson website. I have them on my old system and would like to use them on my new one. I can't find icc profiles for my Epson R200 printer and various epson papers on the Epson website. I downloaded the Vista driver Easy Print, but don't find any profiles. I had them on my old computer, but don't have access to them right now. Does anyone have any thoughts on where I can find them. I'm not being very successful with my printing.

It isn't that I don't see them on my screen. I can scroll down the list but don't see my usual paper choices.

Copying the catalog to laptop and/or external hard drive

I have a rather complex task.

I am using PSE 4 on a Windows XP Desktop. I copied my folder and subfolders with my pictures to an external hard drive. My catalog, I think, is in a hidden file under Documents and Setting\all users\application data\Adobe. How do I copy this to the external drive so that PSE 4 knows where it is.

I will upgrade to PSE7 when I get this all figured out.

I have a new Windows Vista Laptop and want to install PSE 7 and use the external hard drive to edit/save etc my photos.

Do I need to copy the files and catalog in a different way to the external hard drive?

Is there a simpler way to do this?

Thanks for your help.

PIM/printing question

I'm using PSE4 and upgrading today to PSE 7.

When I print from an original jpeg file opened in the Organizer my prints are great. When I resize or edit the file and save as Tif and print, the printing is way off and I have to further edit to get the color correct.

I use the same printer/paper profiles. Use my Epson driver with ICM no color adjustments.

I believe the PIM data is being lost somewhere. I'm sure puzzled on this one. Can anyone explain?

Thanks for your help.

New LCD Monitor with HP Photosmart Printer

I need advice on getting a better match from LCD screen photo image and final printout. I have had good results in the past with PSE 3.0 with CRT and Photosmart 7350 Inkjet printer. With my new Sony LCD Monitor, PSE 4.0 and Photosmart printer I get pale prints. I am an amateur and would prefer not to spend the many dollars for hardware calibrators and software.

I have used Adobe Gamma for my monitor. I am not sure what color settings, color management settings and printer driver settings I should try. Seems like any thing I change doesn't help.

My camera is a Nikon 5000. Images come out in SRGB profile. I have assigned Adobe RGB 1998 in PSE 4.0. My printer driver has only a choice of manual profile assignment or auto. I have manually assigned Adobe RGS 1998 as the default there.

I am not sure of what settings I should be using in the print preview color management section.

Can someone help me sort this out?

Thanks.
