Making widget background transparent for use in a DPS article

Hello all

Am trying to make the background of a widget totally transparent. Is this possible.

I created an accordion widget in Muse, exported the page to HTML and then loaded that file into a web content overlay frame (thanks Bob for your assistance).

I made the background of both the accordion header and body copy no fill (along with the stroke).

But when loaded the HTML file into Indesign, I'm left with a white background.

Have searched the net for a solution, with an joy.

Anyone come across this problem/issue??

Am posting regarding the possibility of creating a widget in Muse and then exporting that as an HTML file, which can be inserted in Indesign, to create an interactive page in DPS.

Sure I saw this outlined in an Adobe tutorial but I can't locate it.

Automatic page resizing for a DPS articles

Hello all

Am working on an iPad app, horizontal dimension, and the pages have a number of different vertical sizes.

Is there a way for the vertical size to be set to auto fit for the contents??

I have master page items at the top of the page, and they disappear when I amend the depth of the page.

I could use the liquid layout feature?? Is this the best way to achieve this??

Hello all

I'm slowly getting my head around using code within Adobe Edge.

I want to use dynamic animation using coding as opposed to always using the timeline.

Have been using Lynda.com for a basic introduction to using code and other tutorials to be found on the net.

Can anyone suggest any other sources, which will move me on from having a basic knowledge??

Animating a chart in Adobe Edge

Hello all

Am new to Adobe Edge and am looking to animate a column chart, with two sets of data.

My aim is to animate the two sets of data (cash and equity), by clicking on the legend for each set, and then publish the OAM file, to be placed in a dps file.

The animation works perfectly fine before I insert any coding.

I have placed a trigger to stop the playhead at the start of the animation: sym.stop();

I then saved each set of data as a symbol and then I attach an action to the the cash and equity legend (which have also been made symbols): sym.getSymbol("Cash9").play();

However, when I launch the animation in a safari browser, clicking on the cash legend does not begin the animation.

Can anyone shed any light on how I can resolve this issue??

File too large for the stage

Hello

Am encountering an issue regarding the size of images I am seeking to import onto the stage in Edge.

I create a graphic in Illustrator, save the file as an SVG file and then I import/copy the file into Edge.

The size of the graphic is always smaller than the pixel dimension of the stage.

But on every occasion, I encounter a notification error message just below the right hand corner of the stage; it reads 'Images greater than 1024x1024px may cause unexpected behaviour on mobile devices'.

When I continue regardless and import my OAM file into an article in Indesign, the animation plays fine, but am concerned by why this error message continues to appear.

I fear the animation will not play on any other mobile devices.

Anyone aware of this issue??

Font issue

Hello all

Am looking to use the Open Sans font family for my website design.

However, if I select the Bold weight, once I export the site to my safari browser, the font reverts to the regular weight.

Is this a common problem, with certain browsers not supporting certain font weights??

Inserting an Edge OAM file into Muse with triggers

Hello all

Am creating an portfolio website and to showcase my work I intend having a long scrolling page with different areas of design, such as page layout, infographics, illustrations and animation.

For each area, I want to have a simple screenshow, allowing the user to click through my work, using arrows to navigate through the artwork.

Is it possible to insert a series of animations which can be triggered in this way??

Not sure this is possible??

You can use the 'Place' command to insert the OAM file, but there is no way for you to trigger the animation. It just starts playing automatically.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Button up/over/down state not working in Edge

This is incredibly frustrating......!!??!

Have tried to make the button work, and triple checked all my settings. All seems set up corrrectly, but for some reason, the state is stuck to the up state.

Would any experienced users out there be willing to view my html file......will be eternally grateful.......;)

Blurry SVG files

Hello all

Am attempting to bring in a chart which was created in Illustrator into Edge to animate the data series.

The chart was saved as a SVG file at the same size as the stage in Edge.
However, when I drag the SVG onto the stage, it's extemely blurry and I can't use such a poor quality image.

Any solutions to this issue??

Inserting a button to close a multi state object

Hello all

Have been working for ages trying to make a button close a multi state object, without any joy.

This is the process I followed, which I was hoping would achieve the effect.

I create a text frame, which is then cut and copied into a larger frame. That frame is then set to 'Fit frame to content'

That frame is also set as a scollable text frame (Auto Detect, Hide bar, Use Document position).

This frame is then copied with the close graphic and I selected the 'Convert selection to a multi-state object'. I have ensured the close graphic does not overlay the text box.

State 2 is then then made transparent and the multi state object is set to 'hidden until triggered'.

I double clicked on the close graphic within the group and converted it into a button. The button has then an action attributed to it to go to state 2.

Finally I crate a graphic which is converted to a button which opens state 1 of the multi state object.

But this does not work. There seems to be a copy of the multi state object generated in the above process and this ensures the multi state object does not disappear when clicking on the close button.

I have tried all kinds of ways to make this work, but no success.

Is driving me mad and would really appreciate any work around be posted here.

Hello all

I’m encountering a challenge which I believe has been discussed on these forums.

This relates to pixelated, blurry text within buttons and multi-state objects.

One solution to this issue is not using the objects containing text as buttons or multi-state objects. Instead, you insert shapes with no fill/stroke on top of text graphics and then grouping them.

This ensures the text is sharp and clear.

However, if you wish to have a roll over state, with a different fill/stroke/text colour as part of the roll-over state, then this poses problems as the shape serving as a button has to have no fill/stroke or text within them.

Has around a work around for this problem?

Button within a scrolling text frame

Hello all

Am attempting to insert a button within a scrolling text frame, which opens up a chart when activated.

I created the button and anchored the graphic in the text frame. This text frame is then copied into the container.

Unfortunately, the button does not work at all. It's visible but is not responsive in any way.

Is this a common problem, or am I doing something wrong?

Hello all

Wondering if anyone can assist with a design challenge I'm faced with.

I am facing the task of taking a corporate document, with consists of lots of text and a number of charts (line/bar) and transform it into a digital file to display on an iPad.

Using a scroll bar is an option I will pursue and I can animate the charts in Adobe Edge.

Can anyone point me to any examples, which I use to gain a little inspiration?? Am struggling to make this design work.

Minor problem when placing an OAM file into Indesign

Hello all

Just starting experimenting with place Edge animation into Indesign.

Really looking forward to mastering the package, but have come up against an immediate issue.

Just before the animation starts within an article (I have selected the auto play option), a faint circular rotating graphic appears on my screen.

Can I remove this graphic? Is it a case of turning off a setting??

This faint small graphic only appears for a split second and then the animation starts without any problem.

Have not really had time as yet to investigate this issue in any great depth, but thought I would see if anyone was familiar with this issue.

Images within a 'tray' swiped onto page

Hello all

Am attempting to insert a number of images alongside text, which has been copied into a container.

This grouped object is placed off the page and then swiped on the page.

However the images are not appearing, leaving the text alone.

Am trying to find a possible solution, but thought I would post on here and see if anyone is aware of a work around for this problem I'm facing.

Taxing button/scrolling bar issue

Hello all

Am looking to create an article with a buttons opening a text box with a scrolling bar.

The article is a glossary which a client has asked me to create as an iPad app.

There will be 26 buttons for each letter along the side of the page.

Each button will open a text box with a scrolling bar.

But I simply cant make it work and wonder if this is impossible or not.

The 26 text boxes are created as object states, but the scrolling bar does not appear when I open each text box using the button for each letter.

Hope this all makes sense; is there a work around for this????

Hello, am new to DPS, am really enjoying learning the package.

I have two questions, which are causing me difficulties;

1 can you extend the depth of a page for designing to an iPad

2. can you extend images across the width of two pages?

Have checked online and have not come up with any answers to the above.
