Why Isn't Director Included with Creative Cloud?

I don't get it ...

Flash and Dreamweaver (which were acquired from Macromedia along with Director) are included with my expensive CC subscription, but Director isn't?

Cash grab, right?

Corrupt Director File

Hey, everyone!

I've got an entire directory of Director files that Director 11 has decided are "corrupt". I've never had this happen before with a previous version of Director and nothing has happened that should cause the files to go corrupt. Worse thing is, the files are the product of a single, grueling dev session, so I never had a chance to back them up.

So, what I'm wondering is if anyone out there has had a similar occurrence and found a way to recover, load, parse or otherwise bring "corrupted" files back to the land of the living, in whole or in part. If you have anything to offer, I'm all ears.

Director 11 Won't Install

When I try to install my shiny new (full ,upgrade) copy of D11, I get the following error:

"Adobe Director 11 cannot be installed because it conflicts with:
Adobe Director 11"

Impressive.

I've tried pruning my system of any bits of D10 or the September preview build that I installed (no actual D11 betas were installed on this computer).

Anyone have any idea what I might be able to do?

D11 Cross-Platform Shockwave Issue

I just did a build of a Shockwave version of a freeware game that I created in Director.

I'm using the DCR and HTML page generated by Director 11, but while it loads and works just fine on a Mac, it doesn't load on my Windows computer (or on my Mac under Parallels or BootCamp). On Windows, it just hangs there with an empty progress bar. Forever.

Anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

Wither Promotion?

One of the most important features that Adobe can add to Director with version 11 is the active promotion of the product. That's the ball Macromedia really dropped with the program.

Yet here we are on release day and Adobe doesn't have so much as a whisper about Director 11 on their main page. Heck, even Adobe's Director evangelist doesn't have a new post on the subject yet.

So far, not so good.

Can you believe it?

Does anyone know if this is something that Adobe plans to address this in a soon, free update? It's odd enough to have an authoring tool released without support for the current OS versions, but to have no mention of its imminent remedy is downright odd.

Well, the links to the Shockwave Player 11 are up now at 9pm EST 3/24 at http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/.

Their links are broken, so you can't actually download anything.

But they are there.

Yesterday, I made a vaguely critical post here about the D11 interface not looking all that different than the D10 interface and it's still in post limbo.

I hope Allen isn't censoring. :-)
