Deletion of selected actions text, immediately after selecting an actions panel

I am on Flash 14.1.0.96 on Mac OSX 10.9.5 on a MacBook pro.

This concerns an issue whereby text in the actions panel is automatically deleted. This seems to happen once the action panel has gained focus, so could be going from stage to panel, or even from another actions panel. The moment anything is selected after bringing focus to the actions panel, it is immediately deleted. This is not only very frustrating but also potentially catastrophic. It is not always obvious that anything has been deleted.

I have attached a video of what I mean. In this I select different action panels and the moment I start selecting anything in the panel, it is deleted. I am not hitting delete and there is no stuck delete button or anything obvious like that.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Subclip with in and out, dragged into sequence timeline, timelines completely ignores in and out

I mark the sub clip with in and out markers then insert into a new sequence. Premiere completely ignores the markers as if I had none, and in fact completely ignores the sub clip and imports the ENTIRE video clip from 000000. How can I correct my version of Premeire as this is very obviously a critical fault with the software . Please anyone from Adobe respond

Audio and video speed decay

Hi there,

I've shot a few interviews with cast members of a stage production. I'm now making a mini feature showing how I edited out the giggles, the umms, the errs, and the bits that strayed from the theme.

Just thinking of the storyboard for this and I think I'm going to start this at the end of one of the interviews, going from talent to closing title sequence and music. I'd like the video and audio to slow down to a complete freeze as the voiceover says something along the lines of "but how did we do it?", and then start playing in reverse at increasing speed.

I know I can change the playback speed and direction but is there a way of controlling this using curves to create an acceleration / deceleration of audio and video?

Many thanks for your help

The transferring data thing just freezes and the computer reports that Premiere has crashed. So far 100% of the time I'm meant to be working on projects has been wasted dealing with your unreliable software. It's driving me crazy. It takes so incredibly long. Even after very very patiently waiting for it to yet again re-index a file it's indexed a billion times, while scrubbing through the clip it will insist on reindexing once again. Why does it do this, and what can I do to stop this happening. There's no answers anywhere else and I've yet to find a way of searching the community help. The only field is the 'start a discussion' so that's what I'm having to do.

Thanks

multi cam - reframing a single camera without showing video below

Hi Folks,

I have a simple 2 camera multi cam sequence which I've edited. I would like to reframe one of the shots and move it closer to the right for composition purposes. The background of the shot is black, but clearly when I reposition it, it starts uncovering the video below (my other camera sequence). So I just need to add a black background to the clip that I'm shifting so that when it is live it doesn't show the video below

So I added an extra video track below the top video (the recomposed one) and created a 'black video'. So far so good. It fills in the missing part with black that blends perfectly with my clip's background. However because I've already recorded and edited the multi cam sequence, Premiere has taken all of my cuts between camera 1 and 2 as being between camera 1 and the new black video layer I have added.

My question - is there a simpler way of filling the background of a video layer without adding an additional video layer as I have? Or alternatively, now I've added this additional video layer, is there a quick way in which I can now tell premiere to 'cut' to the layer that has my other camera angle on? It's moved this in the sequence, but the multi cam has not adjusted accordingly. Now it's cutting to my black video layer (the new middle layer), not my other cam layer.

I hope I'm explaining this correctly and thanks for any guidance here.

Paul

Bringing animated titles from AE to PP

Hello all,

I have recorded some interviews and took a sample video from one of them to create an animation that shows the subject's name and role they play. I need to customise each title for each person obviously and was wondering the best way of doing this.

Here are the after effects layers:

TOP Title and Role (fixed animation of a custom title for each clip)

2 Animated branded strip on which title sits (same for each clip)

3 Test video clip (for positioning but will need to be replaced in Premiere by the video edit)

BOTTOM Animated background image that plays during the title animation and then disappears (same for each clip)

I would like to customise each title sequence for each actor. Because one of the layers sits below the video layer (but is blended in as the video background is black) I need to be able to bring into Premiere as layers and reposition around the video clip.

What's the most efficient way of doing this. I was thinking that as the background animation and title strip animation are fixed, I could create that as one composition and another composition for the specific title and bring each in uniquely for each actor. Just wondering what's the best workflow for doing this. Can I tell after effects to ignore the test video clip to avoid it being exported. Should I delete or can I just tell AE not to export or include in PP?

Thanks for any help

How to force a mac to use thunderbolt connection to edit video files on a different older mac

Hi folks!

I want to use a much newer MacBook Pro to access and edit video files stored on an external drive which is connected to a 3 year old iMac using thunderbolt to maximise speed

The situation

I would like to keep the external hard drive attached to the iMac, not least being the time machine backup for that machine

I would like to also keep the video project files on the iMac

In other words I want to use the laptop for running Premiere, to make edits and save the project and video files. But all files will reside on an older iMac

The problem

Despite having a thunderbolt connection, Premiere is unusable. Videos are 'streaming' at one frame every few seconds which is useless.

I believe the problem is that the Macs are not using the thunderbolt connecting cable but wifi

I tried disconnecting wifi to see if that encourages them to talk over thunderbolt but it does not. They simply then don't see each other. Thunderbolt is set up on both mac's network configuration

Factors

The external disk is on a USB 3 connection direct to the iMac. This will undoubtedly be the bottleneck. But the video is only 1080i and the disk copes perfectly when editing on the iMac. But my lovely iMac despite having a dedicated video card is just a lot slower at processing certain things in PP and After Effects.

What I have considered doing

During edit sessions I have considered attaching the external hard drive to the laptop and running a project locally. I then use the iMac screen as an extension of the laptop screen, being 27" instead of 13". But I have problems with Premiere wanting to update media which takes hours and then it still runs slowly. So I prefer to keep project and video files on the iMac, but use Premiere locally on the laptop to make the edits and write back to the respective files.

I am hoping there is a really obvious solution to this. I have the thunderbolt cable connected to the iMac to use it as an external screen but thought it could also use it to access files from the iMac. The download speed and testing I did earlier suggest it's using wifi. Any thoughts on how to force the laptop to access video files via thunderbolt and still have a wifi connection for internet access etc?

I have file sharing set up and the iMac shows under 'shared' as and iMac well as under 'Devices > Network > iMac'

Thanks so much for your help.

Cannot speed clips up without it ruining edit points

Hi I am having real nightmares with Premiere. It just never seems to do even the most basic tasks properly.

I am simply trying to create a benny hill style spoof. I have cut the sequence at NORMAL speed. Then I selected all video clips in the sequence and chose Clip Speed Duration and put in 250%. I have tried both with Ripple Edit on and off. It doesn't make a blind bit of difference. Each time it speeds up the clips but the edit points maintain the exact same positions in time. In other words the whole sequence is screwed up because at 250% speed, each clip effectively runs longer and the edits are useless. What could it possibly think I mean when I speed up the clips and then tell it to ripple edits? I have absolutely no idea what is going on here? Is this yet another bug with this software. I have recently moved from Final Cut and never had any such problems in that tool. Does anyone know what is going on? I tried nesting the clips into one but then the option to set speed is not available so that's useless.

Thanks for any help or an explanation of why this is happening.
BUG - Artboard resizes on own when clicking height and then clicking width field

Bug with artboard -

I click on a square to create an artboard. Without changing anything if I click in the width field and then the height without changing anything, the art board resizes as shown in the second image in pic 1 (art board values change as shown in pic 2). If instead I click first in the height field and then width, they change as shown in the third pic (settings as in pic 3)

Pic 1

Pic 2

Pic 3

Hold frame does not work

Using Premiere Pro 2014. I have a video clip and simply want to extend the last frame. So I splice a bit off the last frame and expect to be able to choose frame hold and then choose in point. Nothing. It holds some arbitrary frame. So I go into the clip and try and set the in point and out point. Nothing again. So I try holding the playhead, then holding time. Nothing again. Each time some arbitrary point in the clip that I have NOT marked and seems to have ZERO relevance.

Is Frame hold known to be broken and what are the work arounds please?
