How to Prevent Conditional Topics from Appearing in Search

I have a RoboHelp project to which I have applied conditional build tags. The purpose is to hide these topics from the generated output. Everything works fine except when I do a search on terms related to the hidden topics, the search results list the topic names. By the way, I still have the topics listed in my Table of Contents with the conditional build tags applied there too. How can I prevent conditional topics from appearing in Search? I used RoboHelp 9 to generate WebHelp. I applied Adobe's IE10 Patch for "Existing WebHelp created with RoboHelp 9" and the "IE10 patch for RoboHelp 9 installation" provided by William van Weelden. My Search results appear as gibberish (see below example). However, when I click on a number, a help topic appears. Weird huh? Any suggestions for a fix oh wise sages? Thanks in advance.

Cannot Import Graphics Into Project

I am experiencing some very odd behavior in RoboHelp 9 project. When I attempt to import/insert a graphic into a topic, I receive the message:

Unable to rename file, "image.gif".
The file contains illegal characters.

First of all, I am NOT trying to rename the graphic. Secondly, the file name image.gif does not contain illegal characters. This happens for any graphic I attempt to import/insert into the project. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

TOC Does Not Open in WebHelp Generated with RoboHelp 11

The TOC does not open in WebHelp Generated with RoboHelp 11. I tried other solutions posted on this forum but no success. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hyperlinks Not Working in RoboHelp 9 WebHelp for Web Application

We have an X5 WebHelp project that was upgraded to RoboHelp 9. The project provides help for a web-based application. The web application makes direct context-sensitive call to certain topics.

Example: https://192.36.932.122:1000/helpfolder/target_topic.htm

When I click the Help link on a page in the web application, the topic displays in a separate window. However, when I click any hyperlinks in the window, none of them work. The Show link to display the Contents pane also does not work.

The X5 version of the WebHelp works fine with the application. The RoboHelp 9 WebHelp does not work. When I run the RoboHelp 9 WebHelp standalone, everything works fine but when called from the application, hyperlinks do not work.

Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this issue? How can I resolve it?

CHM File Do Not Display Correctly in Windows 8

CHM files do not display properly in Windows 8. Does anyone know why this occurs? Is there a workaround for this issue?

When the IE8 browser launches on Windows 7, it shows “It seems javascript is disabled in your browser, please enable it and reload again, or click here to view without javascript”. There is also a yellow bar above that message. I can click the yellow bar to “Allow blocked content” and then everything works fine.

In IE9 on Windows 8, I get the same javascript warning, but no yellow bar. Depending on how I proceed, I can usually see the Table of Contents control in the left pane, but nothing appears in the right pane.

My Home button in HTML Help Not Working.

Also the Home option from the Options menu does not work. I receive the "This program cannot display the webpage" error.

I have the correct file name (titlepg.htm) in the Advanced Windows Ptoperties "Default" field and the "Home" field. However, I still receive the "This program cannot display the webpage" error.

How can I correct this situation? Thanks, your help is appreciated!

Shourtcut Button Does Not Work in Topic

I am using RoboHelp 8. I created a shortcut button in a topic that launches a small .exe application. When I compile and run the chm file on a different PC, the shortcut button does not work. I thought my .exe application is compiled into the chm file. Any ideas what is wrong? Thanks for your assistance:-)

How Do I Set Single-Click to Display Topics in RoboHelp 8

In RoboHelp X5, I was able to set the Contents pane to expand books and display topics with a single click. I think it used to be a window property that was set. I am now using RoboHelp 8 and do not see where I can set the single-click display property. Would you happen to know how I can accomplish this? Thanks so much for your assistance!

Where is the RoboHelp 8 Encoder Tool?

I read elsewhere in the forum that a RoboHelp Encoder Tool is supposed to enable me to remove the BOM from my html files so strange characters do not appear in my WebHelp output. I use RoboHelp 8. A forum topic indicated that all I need do is select the WebHelp output folder, UTF-8, and clear the Include BOM check box. However, I DO NOT SEE this at all when I right-click the WebHelp output folder.

Is this a separate tool? If so, where can I get it from? If it is a part of RoboHelp 8, how do I enable it? Thanks in advance for your response.

Odd Special Character Inserted in .htm Files

I am using RoboHelp 8. Has anyone seen this "ï»¿" in your .htm and .js files after you publish your WebHelp files? When I remove that character, then I am able to see the WebHelp output in all browsers, but if that character is left in thefile, then WebHelp is not displayed in all of the Web browsers. Does anyone know why this special character is in the files? How did it get there?

By the way, i did not have this problem with the help project when I was using RoboHelp X5.

How Do I Create Timestamps in Topics?

I use RoboHelp 8 and produce WebHelp. I would like to have a timestamp (date & time) automatically placed at the end on my topics when I generate the help. So, on the days I generate the help, that date & time would be stamped at end of topics. Is this possible? If so, how do I accomplish it?

Cannot Display the What's This Help Composer in RoboHelp 8

I imported a RoboHelp X5 help project that contains What's This Help into RoboHelp 8. I open the project and attempt to edit the What's This Help. RoboHelp 8 acknowledges that the What's This Help exists BUT with I select to edit, the What's This Help Composer does not display. How can I get this to work. Thanks in advance:-)

I'm using RoboHelp 8 to develop a WebHelp for a Web-based application. When the help is launched from the application, it covers the entire screen.

How can I make it so the WebHelp only displays in a smaller browser window so it does not cover the entire screen?

Cannot Create Text-Only Topic File in RoboHelp 7

I've been trying to add context-sensitive text-only help to my project using ROBOHELP 7. However, when I select "Create/Import What's This? Help File" it

does not create the file when I enter the file name on the Create/Import What's This? Help File dialog box. I enter the file name and clicl Open BUT the file is not created....weird.

How can I create this file so i can create text-only help.
