I have to agree with you. CC markets itself as a complete solution but without 3d modeling (which is becoming big esp with 3d printing) it has a hole. They started putting some 3d capabilities in photoshop but you can't export for standard 3d formats like fbx as far as I can tell. If they did come out with or revive a 3d modeling product it would certainly bring the price down on such products that (with the exception of things such as blender) are in the $800+ range ..compared to professional drawing/painting tools which are half that.

BRilliant topic for discussion, my daughter has just chosen business studies and product design at A Level and Adobe was my first choice for this 3d industry subject. Except there is no package in CC. Why?

You have a couple of options.

The quick-and-dirty (and not recommended) solution is to tie up your processor doing nothing for 2 seconds:

tMillis = the milliseconds + 2000

repeat while the milliseconds < tMillis

nothing

end repeat

A better solution is to use a timeout object and a callback handler (I can't tell if the code you posted is in a behavior script attached to a sprite or in a movie script):

I need to use the Script Browser function of Dir. 11.5.9. I am instructed to click Window, Script. Then select the Script Browser tab. But when I open the Script Window, I do not find a Script Browser tab. Can someone assist me?

Well that’s amazing - I knew it fixed a few versions of director, but I didn’t think it would reset D4.

I got that error after installing a CS3 version of Illustrator on my computer

The install seemed to knock out Director, but after running the ‘License Recovery’ it all works again.

I’ve never even seen D4 - I started with D5 many years ago.

Although I did once have a play around with a vintage model Mac, and to my surprise they had a copy of macromind videoworks - lol

error 148:30 = Licensing for this product has stopped

This happened to me a little while back - it was easy to fix.

Go over to Adobe's Licensing website and download the License Recovery tool.

Run it and follow the prompts.

I hope this fixes your problem.

(only for D11 & D12) wim hasselo - it's not for DW 4!!!

i dont use drawrectangel. Iphone5 is 1136x6440 iphone4 is 960x640. My default stage size 1136x640 design for iphone5. Then stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE its working for iphone4 full screen. If stage.fullScreenHeight==960 all component change position to up some component resize. Its working fine and simply. But idont know how it show for iphone 6 and plus. And how try it on iphone6

I've got "(the stage)drawRect = desktop" working alright on my iPhone4 and iPhone5, but I don't have one of the new iPhone 6 yet to do any testing.

I am curious to know what happen when you try it on an iPhone6? - dose the screen do any change at all?

iphone 4 is 320x480

iphone 5 is 320x568

the iphone 5 will crop the app unless you add a dependent file in the publishing stage. I don't understand why its needed, but you need to make a png file at the native res of 640x1136 - then save it with the name

Default-568h@2x.png. My png file is just a black image.

I'm trying to figure out how to do it with the 6 plus now. I got the regular 6 to work at 375x667 and by adding the dependent file Default-375w-667h@2x.png, but the 6 plus is still cropping the image.

I tried adding the dependent file Default-414w-736h@3x.png but it crops the app. Any ideas? I read people using Air were having problems as well, but I think adobe did an update. Do we need an update for Director to make full screen apps for the iphone 6 plus? - I did get the regular 6 to work with Default-375w-667h@2x.png.

Yeah, I think Gary maybe gave up on that.

The MacWindowUtilsXtra works on 10.8 and above. I actually had some back and forth with the developer about that, and he basically agreed that it doesn't work on 10.75 (and maybe before that too), and there's nothing he can do about it.

And now I see on Direct-L someone else complaining about Gary's disinterest in support. It was a couple of years back that I last needed help with something. It sounds like you should pursue the MacWindowUtilsXtra - as you saw, Marcel had it work on OSX versions prior to Mavericks

Having determined that the problem actually lies with Buddy API and not something else, I'd be surprised if Gary wasn't happy to implement a fix with minimal pushing required.

Basically, the application will just crash when attempting to use the Buddy API baGetFilename call if an application is codesigned. The old FileIO Xtra doesn't crash things, but it will just not open the file dialogue.

I've got to ask - what type of error do you get after you code sign?

Or... Does the code signing fail because of 'Buddy API'?

Or... does Apple reject the app with a fail notice because of 'Buddy API'

How about the old xtra "fileio" function ? - I kind of thought that 'fileio' worked with everything

(But 'fileio' does not create folders!!!)

Somebody has to know a way to code sign the 'Buddy API' xtra!!!

Maybe start a new thread on the topic - and we could all push for a hot fix - lol

I'm using setPref & getPref for iPad apps, as well as postNetText & getNetText for server side saving.

Can't help (yet) with any info to do with 'code signed' apps for the Mac OSX app store - as I haven't done one yet

Do any of you use any File Management methods in your apps (opening/saving files)?

It seems as all of the old methods don't work (including Buddy API baGetFilename) with Codesigned apps for Mac OSX (at least for Mavericks).

If so, what has been your work around?

Adobe Dimensions did some things that none of the other 3D modelers currently do correctly. When you rendered a 3D circle, you got an actual vector circle (not a mult-sided polygon). This made it much easier to edit the rendered 2D vector. Also, they did a good job at shading the 3D object. I really wish they would revive and update it at some point.... :-)

thank you very much for your help and tryings!!!

We make some test with #rendertotexture now!

Our 3D environment isn't really dynamic. So, we create bitmap data at runtime and put them on stage.

But it's all really strange!!!

On Mac OS X 10.7.5 it worked but we have no chance to produce an app and test this. Xcode could not be installed (to old)!

I analyze the status bar hidden bug with Hotfix 4 and give some results:

Hotfix 4 changes the Otto.app
Publishing process uses (always) Otto.app
Otto.app (Hotfix 4) produce status bar on the top (always)
original Otto.app hide the status bar, but no Retina support

What should I say?

I just spent the last hour trying to find a work-a-round for your problem - but no luck

I can say you are right, it's like the 3d objects have there own locZ channel order - always on top of every other type of graphic or text object except other 3d objects.

If they were locked into DTS they would move on top of other 3d objects

it's all very strange

I tried turning on and off hardware acc. openGL / preferred renderer - but still no luck here!

A crazy idea - if you need to move bitmap sprites over the top of 3d objects - could you save each bitmap graphic as flat plain 3d object, which you could then move freely over the over 3d objects.

But they would have to be rectangles.

Yes to secret apps for the moment - but only for a few months until all the international versions are finished.

Then I will be happy to show everybody what I've been up too.

I am very happy with Director

yes I know there are quite a few issues - but still my results have been very good.

D12 on Mac OS X use #openGL in auto-mode. Change to #software has no effect.

3D object are always in front, on Mac and on iPad!

I belive 3D objects always are renderad in front of sprites if you not disable hardware acc. settings set the movie to use software rendering instead of dirX/openGL. Maybe ipads supports OpenGL?

We have problems with 3D objects. They are always in front and hide bitmap-sprites (and other) in higher channels.

Yes, of course!

We wanna create an iPad app with D12 and made some test on iPad one and iPad Air.

One little thing is the icon!

Step 1:

For iPad Air (Retina), we create an PNG 152x152px with Photoshop and put this on Otto.app. Name: "projector_152x152.png"

There are two other icon files "projector_57x57.png" and "projector_72x72.png".

Step 2:

Edit "Info.plist"

Search for Key "Icon files"! There is an array with Item 0 and Item 1.

Add a new Item 2 with String "projector_152x152".

Step 3:

Publish the app with D12 and transfer with Xcode to iPad!

Thats it!

Info.plist

I changed something, e.g. projector_152x152.png in Otto.app! After this iOS status bar shows up.

Copy the original files back, status bar is hidden.

Hotfix 4 is not the reason!

I will analyze it and give feedback!

Until now I only cared for the behavior script which is the same for the 3 videos to klick. But each videao has a different sprite! Didn't recognize that.

So you could explain all my "mysteries". Thanks a lot! :-)

Well, not exactly. The beauty of the "property" is that each sprite that uses that behavior has it's own, unique value for that property - it's not like a global variable. So every time you click on one of the videos, it will use it's own value for that property. It sounds like in your case they never change, so one of the videos always has a piVideoNum property whose value is set to 1, and another video is set to use number 2. You get the idea.

They are essentially three different variables, and you can see this by going to the correct frame, and then typing in the message window:

put sprite(1).piVideoNum

put sprite(2).piVideoNum

put sprite(3).piVideoNum

(except, of course, use the correct sprite numbers), and you'll see the 3 different values.

But somehow the vlue is changed clicking into the UI without assigning a new value to the variable in any script. Can another script change the value by getPropertyDescritpionList?

regarding the variable:

You should read up in the user manual about the getPropertyDescriptionList, but basically that is a way to give your properties an initial value, and it is done at Authoring time! Click on one of the videos and then open the Behavior Inspector. Then click on the two little gears. These:

You'll see a dialog box come up that allows you to change the initial value of that property for that video. What that dialog box looks like and what values are offered as options is determined by that getPropertyDescriptionList handler. In your case, you are only going to be able to choose between the integers 1, 2, and 3. (Unless or until you change that handler.)

I did not find any handler calling the "switchCamCB", because the calling handler uses another method to calculate the handler name... @_@ of course I can't find it then by using text search. The handler stack will help me VERY MUCH from now on!

regarding the stack:

I am also using v11.5 (English version). But based on the screen grabs you have sent, I think the stack may have been hidden! Place your cursor over that black line in between the Run, Step, etc buttons and the All, Local, etc. tabs. Does the cursor change into a double-headed arrow? If so, click and drag that line down, and I think you just might see your stack appear!

I didn't find anything like that. I took another screen shot to show you what buttons and menues there are.

In the debug window there are the following buttons from left to right: (translated by me)

run script step by step, step into methods, run script, stop debugging

breakpoint on/off, ignore breakpoints, follow expression, inspect object

object inspector, go to procedure

help

I didn't find anything like a handler stack. Is it missing here? Is it something in the button menue above all?

What Director version do you use with a handler stack?

regarding the variable:

yes you're right, the variable IS a property and there's also a handler getPropertyDescriptionList. Here's the code for that:

Regarding the handler stack: it should be right above the part of the screen that you've shown in your screen-grab above i.e. right above the Alle, Lokal, etc. tabs!

Regarding the mysterious variable: is it declared as a "property"? Is there a "getPropertyDescriptionList" handler?
