You would likely need to insert a SWF player that contains the video. Then you could keep the SWF's playback seperate from the Presenter player (meaning the playback controls for the video would be independant of whether the Presenter slide was playing or paused).

I don't believe there is any method to include the player controls in Presenter (other than the default Presenter play bar).

I think you should reach out to Adobe directly regarding this. It shouldn't be reencoding videos that it makes in the first place (I didn't realize you were using APVC).

Today, I've searched 24 pages here for related discussion but no solution was found.

These pictures I listed here were created by other people.

I want to know how to add a control bar below the video? Is it to use the Insert->Video button of Adobe Presenter (0002.jpg), or use the Insert->video button of PowerPoint (0003.jpg)? When I insert a video (in .flv format), it shows like a white box in the original PPT (see 0004.jpg), looks different from the existing 0001.jpg.

And after I published this PPT (with the white box-like video) locally, when this video slide loads, that video plays immediately, but I want pause/stop function.

I also noticed if I try to import a video in .m4v (MP4 Video), PowerPoint says QuickTime is required.

I used to insert video in year 2010, but I forget the details. Maybe at that time I inserted a video with pause/stop function, but I forget.

Or, is it because a specific video format would naturally show the control button?

I just made some test a here is a video to show the test.

I don't talk in the video because I live in Quebec City and I'm not very good in english.... !!!

But here are the explanation

00:00 to 00:25 -- You can see that I made a little video in Adobe Presenter Video Express and I have publisj it on my computer and the file is a mp4 with 1280X800 resolution.

00:00 to 00:44 -- I import the video in Adobe Presenter

00:44 to 01:00 -- Adobe Media Encoder open automatically and re-endoe the video file in H.264(Legacy) in 320X240........1%?"$?"$&&...... Why ???

01:00 to 01:07 -- You can see that the video is imported in Adobe Presenter in 320X240 (really poor quality)

It used to work well in Presenter 9 !

If I import the video in Powerpoint only, it work. But in the Presenter publication I cannot use the seeking bar of Presenter... So, it's not great.

If I import the video in the Presenter tab, it re-encode at 320X240...So, it's totally useless. (it works well in Presenter 9......)

I really don't understand why the video create with Adobe Presenter Video Express is not compatible with Adobe Presenter.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I don't understand why using "Legacy" could help... it's the old way of encoding (Before Premiere Pro CS5)

Hmm, well yea for quite changes...

My 720 X 480 was an aprox value. I try to stay in that ball park though.

Just out of curiosity, if you encode the video using Legacy outside of Presenter (so you can dictate the settings) does Presenter still go through the encoding process when you bring it in? When you used the import dialog did you change the quality setting to high?

Yes, it re-encode the video and I don't know why !!!

Adobe Media Encoder open automatically and encode the vide en H.264(Legacy)... that's weird... Legacy is the old way of H.264 encoding. And in Presenter 9, that re-encoding part was not there...!!!

HD give a great look in Presenter. And 720X480 is not correct because it use 0,9 pixel ratio in 4:3 or 1,212 pixel ratio for 16:9. You should use square pixel to get better result on any platform (But that's not the point of that post...)

I didn't think that Presenter re-encoded MP4 video... but maybe I've just missed it. Is it just placing it in a 320 X 240 frame?

Personally, I'm not a fan of HD video in Presenter, as it never seems that the video will be displayed in a large enough area to be in HD. It just adds file bloat in my opinion. I try to stick with 720 X 480 for video resolution. My 2c.

If a reocrd a video and publish it on my computer as a mp4.

When I want to import the mp4 file in Adobe Presenter (Powerpoint) it open Adobe Media Encoder and re-encode the files before importing it on my slide. also it import the video in a 320X240 resolution.... Why ? The source file is already a mp4 and it has a resolution of 1280X720.

The resume course scenario is indeed controlled by the LMS. Currently this is not possible with the internal server.

The course will always start from the beginning if hosted on a internal server.

html5 publication problem

Hello, I try the html5 publication... and I notice some problem in the output files.

1-The logo I use for the Presenter information is 148 x 52 pixel. It works well with the old Presenter version... but in the html5 publication, the size is not the same as in SWF. On the computer the logo appears smaller and on the tablet it appears in another proportion. That's weird !!!

2-Even if I select a theme without the notes of the Powerpoint, in html5 publication the appears if I click to see the notes (CC). In SWF, the notes doesn't appears if I choose a theme without the notes. How to hide the notes in html5 publication ?

3-I have an audio problem on the first slide.

In SWF publication, the audio begin at 2sec and end à 5sec the presentation pass to the second slide at 6 sec. That's what it's suppose to be... Fine

In html5, the audio begin at 4sec and end at 7sec (seems to) but the presentation pass also to the second slide at 6 sec. So, I miss the end of the audio on the first slide.

How to correct that ?

It's very great to have html5 publication possibility. I hope that it will be better and better...

In the reporting settings, where you select SCORM or AICC, you can set the escape and resume values to match what your server would be looking for. Since you are not running this off of an LMS, I'm not sure that your server will leverage these values for individuals accessing the content in multiple sittings. So, without an LMS, the point may be moot, but it can be worth exploring. I don't have much experience trying to get this to work off of a web server, but others here may have more insight to getting that to work.

What parameters can I put in the Presenter 10 configuration xml?

I should probably mention that I am running courses off of an internal server, not an LMS, so I'm thinking maybe this is controlled by the LMS. In that case, is there any alternative when distributing courses without an LMS? I am using the ALS dashboard to track usage.

Hi There,

You need to add Presenter 10 installer as an "Offline Media" for PN 10 32 bit and OS 64 bit.

Instructionsfor creating Presenter 10 package for 64-bit OS and 32-bit PowerPoint:

Please download Adobe Presenter 10 from Adobe.com or from your Adobe Licensing Website (LWS) account and extract the .7z file to a folder by double-clicking the .exe file.
Once done, please launch CCP and Click “Creative Cloud for Enterprise”.
Sign in using your Adobe ID and click Next.
Now, click on “Create Package”.
Select “Serial Number License”.
For 64-bit OS and 32-bit MS Office, select “64-bit package”.
Click Next and enter the serial number for Adobe Presenter 10.
Now, click on “Offline Media” option at the bottom of the window and navigate to the installer for Presenter 10 extracted in step 1. You may have to select the 32-bit folder inside the extracted setup folder and then cick on extract and then done.

Now click on Build to create a package. Adobe Presenter 10 package is created and you would see “Builds” and “Exception” folder.

Deploy the contents of build and exception folder just like you do for other CC products.

Hi Dan,

You may need to remove the registry settings and manually delete Presenter folders from your system. Please follow the below steps (Make sure you take help of some technician before editing the registry):

Make sure Presenter is not visible in "Control Panel". If presenter then uninstall it first. Make sure that you check " Remove Preferences" option from the uninstall window while uninstalling it.
Go to Run>Type "Regedit" and click ok.
Expand : "HKEY_CURRNT_USER" and go to Software>Adobe.
Right Click "Adobe Presenter " Folder and Delete it.
Now expand : "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" and go to Software>Adobe.
Delete "Adobe Presenter Video Express" Folder.
Go to : "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE">Software> "Wow6432Node" > Adobe > and delete "Adobe Presenter" folder.
Go to : C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe and delete Adobe Presenter Folder.
Go to : C:\Program Files\Adobe and delete Adobe Presenter folder.
Restart Machine.
Install Presnter 10 again.

Looks like PPT files can't be published as HTML5, but PPTX can. Do a Save As and then save the file as a PPTX file.

At the moment you can't do it. You have to convert to FLV and display in a separate pod. I spent a whole day on it for one webinar.

You should really be able to do this within Connect Meetings as standard, even if it means Adobe specifying a video standard e.g. MP4 for video in the PowerPoint file. It is unacceptable to require clients to purchase Presenter to do this, especially as it does not work. I am not sure how this escaped testing of Presenter 10.

Let's hope that Adobe will have a fix shortly (the problem has been acknowledged). They have fixed some Captivate 8 issues I reported not long ago, so I am confident they will. They will need to otherwise clients will look elsewhere; video is becoming an integral medium in webinars. Connect is an excellent product otherwise, so fingers crossed for a fix very soon.

You may package only 32bit Presenter that works on 32bit OS only and a 64bit Presenter that works on 64bit OS .

I previously had Presenter 8 installed, then upgraded to Presenter 9. I have uninstalled both. However, I get this message when I try to install Presenter 10: "A conflicting or prerelease version of Adobe Presenter 10 (64 bit) exists on this computer. The conflicting version must be removed before installing from the current media."

I never had Presenter 10 installed previously in any form. I suspect something in the Registry is the problem. Anyone had this experience and know how to resolve it?

Windows 7, IE 10, Adobe Presenter 9

I have an email hyperlink created in PPT/Presenter that works fine within PPT. However, when I publish the course to My Documents and view the presentation, once I click the email hyperlink, it opens an email but opens an additional window..."Navigation to webpage canceled". It reacts this same way when published to our LMS. The user will need to close the extra window, which may cause confusion. Our IT department has looked at my IE security settings and I have set my flash security settings to "allow" for My Documents folder. I went back to a similar course I created a couple of years ago, but I do not receive this message when I click the hyperlink. I was using an older version of Presenter at that time.

Has anyone experienced this same issue and had a resolution?

Since Presenter is not part of the CC list of products, maybe there is an issue there. However, I'd recommend you call support at 800-945-9120 and speak with them directly regarding options for getting this done.

Hi,

I have followed all the advice given in this forum regarding Adobe Presenter 10, but I cannot get the Adobe Presenter 10 tab to show in PowerPoint. It used to work when I had the trial license, but now that I have a licensed version it stops working.

What is going wrong?

(Yes I have uninstalled, restarted, installed, uninstalled, used the File->Options->Com Add-in approach BTW why is Adobe Presenter not a valid Office Add-in?)

Additional information:

Powerpoint 2013, 64-bit
If I uninstall Adobe Presenter and reinstall as administrator it works until the next restart, then it stops working.
Launching Presenter from the Start Menu does not help, it stills gets to the situation where PowerPoint does not
It only works if I run PowerPoint as administrator.

Help here would be very welcome,

Impossible to make a package that works in Windows 7 64-bit och with Office 2013 32-bit !

MP4s won't work in the Connect Meeting apps. I've also had some saving issues with Presenter 10 so testing it has proved 'a challenge'.

For the moment it looks like I will have to use FLVs in separate pods.

I have stayed away from screen sharing for the reasons you have stated, though I thought I would test it. I could not get it to work.

I hope Adobe will sort out the Presenter issues asap. I really like Connect, but this is something that Adobe do need to get working asap. I have been impressed with the way they have responded to bug fixing in the past so I am confident they will. It is just a shame this was not picked up in testing.

This is true for the desktop version of Connect, as it is Flash based and not compatible with HTML, that is why there is the recommendation of publishing the presentation as both Flash and HTML5.

Please don't screen share videos. It will only cause you more pain and frustration. Screen sharing runs at 3-5 frames per second (FPS) and doesn't broadcast any system audio, while videos run a 24-30 FPS. So you will lose audio and much of the visual information contained in the video if you use screen sharing.

Application sharing is a bit moody when you have dual monitors, so if you chose to share an application that happens to be on your second monitor, it won't be seen, as the Connect application is looking to share it via your primary monitor. Not sure if that was what caused you issue, but it is worth knowing. Personally, I just do desktop sharing and ensure that any applications that contain personal or inappropriate information are closed or only display on the monitor I'm not sharing.

I can see how it could lead to that. You may find the trick of layering pods more useful than layouts. This is most commonly done by having two (sometimes more) share pods that don't quit fill the allotted space, but 'peek out' from behind the share pods up front. This way you can just click on the frame of the appropriate share pod. Alternatively, with multiple share pods (well multiple of any types of pods) on one layout you can use the keyboard shortcut of Ctrl + F6 (Command + F6 for Mac) to move the focus to the next pod, Adobe Connect 9 * Accessibility features. Maybe that can help you reduce the number of layouts required.

I am using the Presenter 10 trial (sorry re-reading my post I did not make that clear) and Connect 9.3. I have raised it with Adobe and there is indeed a problem. Connect Meeting 9.3 does not recognise an HTML5 project created in Presenter 10. When I import an FLV into Presenter 10 I get a placeholder.

What I have been doing is precisely what you recommend for video: I upload it an FLV to a separate pod. It is bizarre that you can play an MP4 in a Connect meeting that works on the desktop but not mobile device. This is becoming a very time-consuming procedure and less than ideal. It means I have to create lots of layouts in the Connect Meeting too.

It is great that Connect Meeting supports mobile devices but those on mobile devices complain when a feature does not work (that's life...). That means I have to plan events that are fully functional on desktop and mobile. Videos are becoming more and more common. Connect Meeting should really support video embedded in Powerpoint out of the box without all the hassle. Adobe says that you need to have Presenter to do this but it does not work. At the moment you can't do it unless you share Powerpoint as an application (which I could not get to work either so I have no idea how well the videos would stream).

I have also just found that the pointer, supposed to have been fixed in the latest mobile release, does not work either (it works first time but the position is not updated when moved unless you turn off the pointer first then turn it back on). I am not sure how this escaped testing.

However I have foud that Adobe is very responsive to fixing faults so fingers crossed that there will be a solution soon.

OK, so let's just start with the PPT/Presenter side of things, and we'll come back around to the video.

It appears that the mobile app now supports Presenter content from Presenter 10 when published as both html 5 and Flash. Adobe Connect - Android Apps on Google Play

However it appears that Presenter 10 and Connect 9.3 are required for that to work. I'd have to test whether just uploading a PPT(X) file to the share pod would work (the Connect server should be using the Presenter 10 conversion engine to create a Flash presentation). You might try using the 30 day trial version of Presenter 10 to see if it does solve your problems with displaying the PPT/Presenter content in Connect. It is also worth noting that there is a fair bit of functionality that may not be available on a phone, but is available on a tablet.

For the video, the app does allow FLV video. You can use Presenter to embed video into the PPT presentation and it will play back. You can also just upload the FLV video into another instance of a Share pod. Placing a video in PPT just creates a file path link which is broken when you upload it to Connect.

I see what you mean about AME. Odd, but there are any number of paid and free applications that will convert to FLV.

Uploading a Powerpoint with embedded videos to a Connect Meeting to work on desktop and mobile; has anyone done this?

I would like to upload a Powerpoint file with embedded videos to work on both desktop and mobile clients in a Connect Meeting. Has anyone managed to do this with Presenter 10 because you cannot do this by uploading to a Connect Meeting directly. Adobe tell me that I need to buy Presenter 10.

The problem I find, apart from some really irritating permission errors with Presenter 10 that often means the project fails to be published to Connect, is that the desktop version of Connect uses Flash and does not support HTML5. The mobile client does not support MP4(!). You have to use FLV video to work in both, but Powerpoint does not support this. Also Media Encoder 2014 does not support FLV so you have to use an earlier version.

So unless I am missing something the only way to get video to work on both platforms is to remove it from the PPT/PPTX, convert to FLV and then add the FLVs to a separate pod. This is a major and time consuming endeavour and is becoming a significant problem for me.

Any advice would be appreciated.
