Thanks Dave. I have not tried that and it seems like a reasonable work-around. But I'm not quite sure what you mean by "keying off the same color".

I'm fairly new to this having only recently started using these tools again after six years, but will try to help! Go to "Explore", find a theme you like and click the "Edit" selection when you mouse over it. From there you can edit it or save a copy of it as is as whatever name you wish. In Photoshop or Illustrator, they will now show up in Adobe Color Themes (Window > Extensions > Adobe Color Themes) under "All Themes" in the drop menu. In these apps (and others that are Adobe Color Theme aware), any themes that you favorite on the site will show up under "My Favorites".

If you're using Fireworks, it's different as it still uses Kuler (Window > Extensions > Kuler). Themes you save or favorite on the site don't automatically show up there, however you can search for themes by name, and if you select "Custom" from the theme group dropdown, you can enter up to four names that will show up in that dropdown menu and produce as many results as the window can hold for an individual term. For instance, I saved a theme as "Copy of Industrial Calm" which if I enter in the search box, the "group" is a group of one. However, if I just type "Industrial", the window fills with options, yet there are MANY more results on the Adobe Color site and you would have to be specific to get the right one in that window.

In design school we used to color theory books that would provide swatches to help begin to prioritize color within a layout. it would be cool to do this in app. I've attached images to show what I'm talking about. Also, the images are on dark and light to show the difference of how color change change based on background.

One more idea. What if you could input the address of a webpage and the app would extract the palette from the page and turn it into a color theme?

Illustrator CC doesn't see my Adobe ID

When I am in Illustrator CC and I go to Kuler it says I need an Adobe ID, I have one, and I am logged in, but it still doesn't recognize me through Illustrator. Is there a way to tell it to?

Exporting as REC 709

Alright, I'm not sure if this is a common question.

But I wanted to edit my media while looking at my footage as REC 709 for Color Correction purposes.

I know I can change my monitor view from settings to set as REC 709,

But how does one export as REC 709 using any Codec and Wrapper?

I only know that Avid's DNxHD can export in 709 gamma,

But is there a way to export in H264 with 709?

How do you do so in Premiere Pro?

Looks like this is a bug that shows up when small images are uploaded. For instance, of the image is less than 100 px and the browser height is less 900px or less and width is between 800 and 1300px.

I'm working on a corporate training manual that will have (9) sections and I'd like a contrasting color for each. When I try to use Adobe Color it will only show a maximum of (5).

These colors will be used for Page Numbers, Topic Headlines and Subheads.

Any ideas?

Not an answer, but I've just encountered this today. Tried all of the following without fixing it:

-Restarting computer

-Deleting InDesign prefs

-Quitting and restarting Creative Cloud app

-Uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign

-Uninstalling and reinstalling Creative Cloud app

Yet, on another computer under the same Cloud account, the Color Themes panel shows that the themes *have* been added. And reopening the Color panel on the problem computer shows that any edits performed online or on the other, "happy" computer are also incorporated.

Hi Guyz,

I hope someone can hlp me with this. I'm quite new to premiere pro, used it for only 2 years.... Still a beginner. Can you actually add 'live' key frames to the 'Fast Color Corrector' while you are playing the footage and constantly changing the colours by moving the colour selector thingy . So that I would get a constant change of mixed colours effects. TQ in advance.

Creative Cloud users can access all their themes directly within Illustrator CC. To access your themes, open the Color panel by choosing Window > Color Themes. You can also access your themes and create new ones in the latest version of Adobe Ideas, Adobe Draw, Adobe Line, Adobe Sketch and more.

For users who prefer to explore and browse themes created by members of the Color community first, we recommend using the web site—where you will find robust search, filter, and browsing capabilities. Once you find something you like, simply mark it as favorite and then refresh your Color panel in Illustrator.

For Photoshop®, InDesign®, Fireworks®, and Flash® Professional:

Find the new Color panel by choosing Window > Extension > Color Themes . This new panel displays all of your public themes.

For users working on older versions of Adobe software (CS4, & CS5), Color themes can also be downloaded for use in Adobe software using the Adobe Swatch Exchange (.ase) format. Both the web and iOS app support all the standard images types. JPG, PNG, GIF. (TIFF is not supported)

I'm able to scroll fine with my mouse. There is no scroll bar UI, but the panel is scrollable. Just like modern web browsers.

Couple ideas for you:

First, try using the color wheel on color.adobe.com. Select the middle color and add your hex code to the color. The app will automatically show you analogous colors. See an example here. You can also experiment with the other color rules in the Color Rule menu (just click on one of them).

Second, take a look at themes created by others. If you are looking generally for colors that work well with yellow, you can browse the most popular themes and spot some which use yellow.

You can download your themes from the Color.adobe.com website (after you sign in). Also, you can use your color themes in other Adobe apps. See this post. And, finally, you can also use the color themes on other mobile apps such as Adobe Illustrator Draw and Adobe Photoshop Sketch. In one of the supported apps, do the following:

Tap the color picker to open the Color themes pop-up. The default color themes display.
Tap the + icon. The Add Color themes option opens.
Tap My Color to view and the color themes. Tap to select them.
Tap the accept icon.

Hi,

I am running OSX (10.9.5), and I just installed the latest security update & restarted. Still, it doesn't seem to resolve my problem, unfortunately.

Within the Color Themes palette, it still has my old themes, but when I refresh, the new ones don't show up, and it doesn't mention any error.

Incidentally, when I open the "Illustrator"/Application menu and scroll to where it lists my Adobe ID email, in the fly-out menu it says it wasn't able to sync my settings because an "Unknown Error Occurred." However, nothing seems to be out of order when I click in to manage the sync settings.

Successfully using the Adobe Color iOS App and on web and mainly on Mac as well - apart from Indesign - I'm able to add colours to swatches panel but NOT direct to Adobe Colour in order to access theme from other CC Apps/devices - any suggestions for how I can solve this? (I know it's only me this happens to, having asked a friend to try on his Mac!)

Can you post your OS version to the thread. Can you install the latest patch (specially the security ones) to your OS and see if it solves your problem.

You can open the ASE file as a color library in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Go to the flyout menu in swatches to find the menu for opening a new color library.

A cleaner solution is to look for Color Themes menu in these products, you would find the Adobe Color themes within the product.

If you use the color themes panel from within InDesign and Photoshop you would find the CMYK values reported in the panel (Create Tab) to match that from the product.

I've been updating a pre-existing Brand Kit for a company, and noticed that their web team used Kuler to establish all variants of color (Hex, RGB and CMYK). When I was tasked to collect everything into a Brand Guidelines deck, I noticed the discrepancy between Kuler and Illustrator, but for only the CMYK values.

So I went looking for an answer. Most of what I've found online, is that a) Color Spaces play a part in which CMYK values are being offered and b) Kuler isn't 100% accurate in determining CMYK. That said, as I've done for years, I've leaned on the software itself (Photoshop or Illustrator) to provide the right values.

I'm repeating a particular background image on each page of a calendar and would like to change its colors on each page. There are 2 gradients in the image which use a total of four different colors. I'm not at all skilled in color theory and was wondering if anyone can please tell me if there's an easy way to come up with harmonious color combinations that I can apply to the original Illustrator file? My shortcut solution would be to convert the color to grayscale and apply a color overlay, but the image just looks flat when I do that. I would prefer to adjust the gradients individually but just don't know how to find compatible colors.

When I open the Color Themes panel in Illustrator CC (2014.1.0 Release), and click the "refresh" button, it only pulls in the themes I had saved on the web back when it was "Kuler." No new themes that I make (that show up on the web under "My Themes") sync with Illustrator. How do I get the new themes to sync?

(I've already logged in & out, restarted the programs and the computer, to no avail.)

Love the idea of Kuler/Adobe Color. I wish there was an option to switch the interface to light or gray. The dark background has a huge impact when choosing the brightness or saturation of a color. It would also be great to be able to limit the number of colors you're working with, or even figure out a way to mock up color hierarchy per theme in the app.

Does the Adobe Color Theme have a scroll bar?

If you created the swatch in Color, it's already available in AE. Just go to Windows > Extension > Adobe Color Themes.
