When installing a trial version instead, I noticed it was stuck on "Currently Installing Adobe Help".

I killed two instances of InstallAdobeHelp.exe in the task manager and the install continued. By going to the help menu later, it allowed me to download and update the adobe help, eventually using Adobe air.

Hello Garret,

Once you have the "Adobe Creative Cloud" on your desk... Open it... you should see... Fireworks. just click on it. (which I presume to be installed)

It should then open...

Otherwise, go to your C:\Program Files (x86)... open the Adobe Folder.. find Fireworks CS6... copy/paste the fireworks.exe on your desk (or attach it on the Task Bar and clik on it... it should open, also.

Hello All! Hello Fireworks Community.

I work on a Sony VIAO computer and for a full year I've always been using my licensed Fireworks CS6....

But since this morning , Fireworks CS6 is not opening. A popup shows (an internal error occured ) and says in French "une erreur interne est survenue".

I called the service where I bought it (FNAC.COM), the guy said to desinstall, reinstall through Creative cloud Adobe software, and I put back the licence number...

But it's still the same problem... I know that VAIO does continuous major updates, ie yesterday... would it be related?

Fireworks CS6 Stuck at 45% Install

Using the Adobe Creative Cloud to download and install Fireworks CS6, it gets stuck at 45% each time. Fireworks was originally installed then I uninstalled it and failing to reinstall (4 times).

Is there a way to manually uninstall Fireworks CS6 completely or determine why it will not get past 45%?

I updated my mac pro laptop to Yosemite. now Illustrator CS6 will not open.

It asks me to install legacy Java SE6 runtime, I've done that and Illustrator is still a no go.

This is on a Mac Pro retina display laptop OS X Yosemite 10.10

How do I launch Fireworks?

...a trial of Fireworks CS6 - with no updates forthcoming ever, unfortunately. You would be better off investigating other options. Currently, there is still no complete alternative available on the market - at least, not in the form and shape of a single application.

I switched to a combination of Photoline, InkScape, and Color Quantizer (awesome PNG web exporter/optimizer). (Photoline has a great app-link to link up to InkScape)

A number of Ex-FIW users are now using Photoshop, yet others swear by Sketch (only available for Mac).

You do realize Adobe discontinued the development of Fireworks in May 2013? Almost 18 months ago - it might be a better idea to invest your time and money in a different tool. You will receive no support or updates from Adobe.

I recently purchased Fireworks.

I noticed that a tax was added to it.

In a previous order from 2 years ago, I purchased Acrobat 10 and it had no tax on that one.

when did Adobe start adding taxes to the order? and who gets the tax?

Dear all

Creative Cloud enabled me to download a trial version of Fireworks. I am happy with the program and want to purchase it. However, when I follow the link in the popup, the website asks me where I'm from. When I enter The Netherlands, the site shows: "Sorry, this product is not available in your country"

Seems rather strange since I was given a completely Dutch trial version.

Anyone ideas?

For me it was an error that happened when going from Adobe Illustrator CC to Adobe Fireworks CS6. Since Fireworks isn't being supported right now it is stuck in version 6 until the foreseeable future. So if you will save your vector files in Adobe Illustrator CS6 or earlier version as an EPS file you should have no trouble importing these to Fireworks. This issue has been resolved for me. I'd love to hear back if you experienced something different. Mine works great now in the land of happy icon bliss. Cheers friends, M.

Hi there,

Fireworks cannot do that kind of stuff for CSS. But you can create textures and patterns as visual elements from the Properties Inspector panel.

Hi Jack,

Typekit desktop fonts are installed on your system to be available in any app, as long as it works with system fonts. Fireworks should work just fine.

There are a couple things you need to sync all desktop fonts from Typekit:

- The Creative Cloud app

- A Creative Cloud subscription

- A Typekit subscription, the Portfolio Plan if you want access to all desktop fonts

I don't know why, but all the ways to "fix" fireworks seems to be right. I don't use Spotify, but on Mac I use Chrome as main browser. I close it and then run FW and like magic it works fine as new. But when I open Chrome again, FW startes to work bad (Even when I didn't close it). I didn't have this issue on my PC because I use Firefox as my main navigator.

Sadly someone recently recommended some FW plugins, so I think I could use them only at home. And have to migrate my web designs to Photoshop.

Hi, I followed this instruction for my Cs4 and it worked perfectly for a little while. Then it came again. I followed all possibilities for support, including the Twitter blog. I still can´t use my FW as before.

Any permanent fix after so long time? Thank you.

I hear your pain.

I have the same issue (as does everyone else I work with), it seems to be a problem in the OSX version of Fireworks.

You can install the following legacy driver it works, but NOT in Yosemite.

Wacom's legacy driver page
You want WacomTablet_6.3.1w2.dmg
Be sure to completely remove the newer driver first

Btw we are thinking of moving to Sketch.

Ha! The adobe forum interface didn't let me know I was only entering a subject above - oh well. To re-iterate the old fireworks 8 would let me align gradient fill controls of multiple vectors to produce what amounted to a continuous fill across the mutiple elements - this seems to have vanished as you lose selection of the other vectors as soon as you click on the gradient fill control of one to move or rotate it etc. Is this functionality hidden or effected in some otherway in CS6?

I would agree - this is a losing battle. (Ultimately FW will become inoperable and vanish).

I have compared/tested numerous other applications and none have come close to FW for the work I do and the way that I use it.

In the meantime - I shall keep a keen watch for something that matches it (Sketch is getting close) and soldier on with FW 5 - until I can't.

This is all very interesting, but it is a major concern that FW will stop functioning correctly because of some Chrome extension or other, or because of a part of a newer OS.

Unless FW is updated to fix these issues, there is a fair amount of certainty FW will stop working correctly by the next OS update.

And Adobe is not going to do that - so is FW not a lost cause?

This resolved my issue - looks like I must QUIT Chrome if I want to run Fireworks. Many thanks for tracking down a work-around - I was pulling my hair out.

EDIT to ADD: More specifically - disabling the "Google Play Music" extension in Chrome fixes the issue. With that disabled - Chrome plays nicely with Fireworks. (I'm using CS5).

I've been using CS3 up until today on my Window 7 machine. I decided to install CS5 today and have run into issues when trying to export slices from Fireworks.

I right click on the slice, select export selected slice as usual, select the image I want to overwrite or simply type in a new file name and click save...

I get this on my screen:

Invalid page name. Done not use the following characters: \ / : * ? " " < > |

I haven't used any of these characters and never do!

it doesn't matter even if the filename contains only letters, I still get this error.

I can't export anything and therefore I can't work.

I've searched on google and not had any relevant search results.

Can someone help??

I know this question is almost one year old, but it's on page one on Google, so maybe I can help someone.

For me it's a graphic tablet driver by Wacom that seems to interfere with Fireworks on startup while loading the keyboard shortcuts. After killing the driver's task in the task manager Fireworks starts up normally.

After getting my head burstung for days I figured out the solution, at least for myself. Hope it works for others too.

The problem seems to be with Fireworks running in parallel to any application which polls the internet, continuously. My culprit was Chrome browser. On deeper investigation, a extension installed in Chrome was causing the issue. Disabling that solved the issue.

A piece of advice : check for Internet applications such as the browser, spotify, any music streaming apps etc. Try disabling them.

Thanks for this post, this bug was driving me nuts, although I thought I did not have Spotify program on my computer, but I did have a App installed called "Radia" which streams Pandora. As soon as I closed App, Fireworks all fixed, yay!

It happens when dragging before clicking to place. The image is distorted wide. I do this all the time with no problem with my Fireworks CS4. Actually, the problem went away yesterday, but it came back today!

The support for Fireworks CS5 was said to be extinct: no longer available directly from Adobe. I uninstalled, re-installed twice: the second time I removed all preferences. I now use Fireworks only when the radio for wi-fi is disabled: the issue?! I'm not sure, but it works wonderfully well again... Keeping the radio wi-fi disabled is a safety precaution; it seems the internal error has something to do with the faux browser scams floating the Inet. Otherwise: preferences was the issue; I did read the kill kill and it seemed somewhat logical up to a point. I'm cleaning out old files: I've only opened one that caused an 'internal error message within FW since I did the second re-install: the first one said succuss--internal error--the second one sad foul and yet the foul works perfect...

I do love the Adobe software: I'm not blaming it or Adobe but it seems the problem started when the setting online for Fireworks was changed when support was allegedly ended for CS5.

Not really sure what you are asking. If it is the speed of playback then go to the States panel and to the right is a number. Click it. It says 7/100 sec delay. Change this to alter playback speed. It's been ages since I've done animation in Fireworks

Thanks jonsuh! Disabling the Google Play extension in Chrome fixed the problem for me too.

Before I found this discussion I noticed that right clicking allowed me to select objects. That might be easier than dragging to select, for those still working around the problem.

Are you still having a problem with this? I've seen it happen before too. For me mostly on Save. Sometimes I use CTRl_S and save. Or just wait and come back. It seems like after I close a file there is a lag to FW knowing it's not open. Does this happen just on export? Perhaps try giving it a different name.
