Both issues are address in other forum topics. For the 1st, you need to reader extend your document, for the 2nd issue, I'm not sure, but you might be able to use a java script function to accomplish this.

Kinda sounds like this: Tool for Summarizing Form Content. You might be able to modify this macro to suit your needs.

Present final report at the end of the form.

We are working on a performance evaluation form.

There´s a part of it where we specify performance factors, the qualification is from 1 to 5. If the qualification is between 1 & 2.9, it needs a developement plan.

I would need two things, first if the value entered is between 1 % 2.9, the background color to turn red. But at the end of the form get "a report" with all the performance factors that are between that qualification rate, so the evaluator makes a plan for it.

I´m using LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2

Hello,

1 - I have form created in LiveCycle 8.1.2 and created a button to e-mail the customer returns filled with information, I did some testing on reads acrobat 8, 9, X, X1 for shipping but does not work. Only sends the Acrobat Pro.

2 - When sending Acrobat Pro in the body of the e-mail attached with default name. Someone has javaScript to name a field of the form.

Can someone help

Saved State - how to keep removed items from reappearing when PDF is reopened?

Hi everyone,

I have a form that lets you removed questions (tables). However if a user removes them, saves the PDF and then repoens it later, the removed questions are back. Anything that is typed will be saved, but the tables keep coming back. Here is a short video that shows what happens.

I searched the forum and found some posts that I think are similar but I can't get a solution to work. One invloved copying the script that deletes the table (code resides in the the click event) to the form:ready event. Here is the code from the click event that deletes the table:

form1.SectionESBusinessAcumen.QuestionsContainer.SFBusinessAcumenQuestions.S1Q1Table.Row1. SubformS1Q1Remove.S1Q1Remove::click - (JavaScript, client)
var cMsg = "Are you sure you want to delete this question?";

I think I found the solution...

On the Subform Object tab, go to the Subform tab.

Under the Presence option select Hidden.

I knew it was something simple, but it's been a little while since working in Livecycle.

Hi,

this function is to reset your form to its original state by resetting all data in background (all the variables) and,

to hide / show every objects in the design to its original state.. But it doesn't reset the data in each fields like resetData() function

Good Morning,

It's been months since I've worked in LiveCycle, so I know that I'm missing something simple on this form.

In LiveCycle Designer ES4 I have a form with check boxes that trigger subforms to appear when checked.

I used Action Builder to to create these simple rules

Condition: "When check box CopyMachine is clicked" (Check box name)

Result: "Set Visibility of CopyMachineChoice to visible" (Subform name)

However on the PDF all the subforms are appearing.

What am I forgetting?

And do I need to create a separate event for the possibility of the User clicking, then unclicking a check box?

Hi AncientGrams,

I am a bit confused with your question, would you like to restrict the cell getting expanding or the table itself? If table, then you can restrict the number of repetitions and if it's the cell that you want to restrict displaying text more than it's width then you can limit the cell in that particular row to "visible area". Also, you can try setting the cell to allow multiple lines so it doesn't cut the data but wraps the text on to the next line.

Reading XML Binding values

Here is what I would like to do... create an applications or a PDF file where I can import a .XDP file and list out all the XML binding values for text fields, date fields and floating fields for that .XDP.

Is it possible? has anyone tried this kind of stuff before?

If I select Restaurant in the Drop-down, the table should only show the details of restaurant. If I select Travel, it should show all the travel catagories.

I have a table within a positioned subform and if there are more rows in the table than space in the subform, the data overflows past the boundaries of the subform. I want the data to be cut off at the boundary, such as how you can select for a field to "Limit Length to Visible Area" so that the text in the field doesn't go past the field size. I don't even want it to flow to another page, just cut it off so that it doesn't print over other fields that are below the subform on the page. Anyone know how to do this?

Do you want to hide the table or just the fields in the table? If you want to just hide the table, you can do Tablename.presence = 'invisible' / 'visible' based on the change event of the drop down list object.

something like this (in the change event of the drop down object):

if (xfa.event.newText == 'show') { Tablename.presence = 'visible';}

else if (xfa.event.newText == 'hide') { Tablename.presence = 'invisible';}

This is assuming that your dropdown only has 'hide' and 'show' values.

If you want to just hide the fields in the table, you need to loop through all the fields and set their presence individually. something like this:

var vRows = Tablename._Row.count;

for (var i = 0; i < vRows; i++) {

if (xfa.event.newText == 'show') {

Actually, we are a small firm, we gave development project of a small app to a software vendor, the app supposed to work for desktops and tablets/mobile devices. We assumed our app will be build based on JavaScript

But, the vendor said they will build our app based on HTML5

Pls. let us know HTML5 and JavaScript both are same?

Database connection is not working in Free Acrobat Reader

Hi,

I am working on a pdf that imports data from an sql server. I got it working flawlessly in livecycle and in Acrobat Reader Pro. But in Free acrobat reader it makes an index error on the click event on the button that runs the javascript for getting a record.

I applied reader extension from Acrobat Reader Pro, but never the less it won't work.

My question: Does Free Acrobat Reader support this kind of database lookup with RE enabled.

I have tried both with formcalc and javascript. Both works in livecycle and the pro version of acrobat reader.

I am only working on the client side and do not utilize livecycle server.

I don't think you can submit just a page of your PDF like you printed just a page. The difference is that when you print, the PDF becomes dots on paper, while when you submit a PDF it must remain completely intact to be machine readable, especially since the forms on a LiveCycle (XFA) document can have complex dependencies between pages.

Hello all,

My form has an option for the user to delete subforms/records as needed. Acrobat does allow for Undo- so if my user accidentally clicks "delete", they're stuck.

I added an alert box to ask "Are you sure...", with "yes" and "cancel" buttons. But when I click the cancel button, it deletes anyway!

Here is the script I'm using:

Aha! So you're not trying to install LiveCycle Designer (32Bit) but the LiveCycle Server for IBM WebSphere on Windows Server (64Bit).

Only Designer can be installed under Windows 7 (x86)!

The size of the installer is about 190MB!

Dazu fallen mir spontan 2 Dinge ein:

1. Dem Formular fehlen entsprechende Rechte, sodass das Senden mit dem Adobe Reader nicht erlaubt ist.

Formular vor dem Verteilen erst in Acrobat öffnen und unter Datei > Speichern als... > PDF mit erweiterten Reader-Funktionen > Weitere Werkzeuge aktivieren (...) abspeichern.

2. Bei dem Benutzer ist das mailTo-Protokoll keiner lokalen Mail-Anwendung zugewiesen, daher öffnet sich kein neues E-Mail-Fenster.

Sofern Windows benutzt wird unter Systemsteuerung\Programme\Standardprogramme\Dateizuordnungen festlegen dem mailTo-Protokoll eine lokal installierte Mail-Anwendung zuordnen.

Please give us a few more details, nobody can imagine you circumstances!

What program version do you want to install?

From where do you try to install that program (CD-ROM, downloaded EXE)?

What OS version do you use exactly (Press Windows + Pause buttons to find out)?

What is the error message (word for word please) you see?

You can use the importXFA() method to import data via scripting.

this.importXFAData("../MyFormData.xml");

Note: This script cannot be run directly from a button in your form.

You'll have to call it from a privileged context like the console window or a folder level script.

You can solve this problem by downloading the service pack and running the install, that will give you the Macro in the menu.

The Accessibility panel is blank in my 60 day trial version of LifeCycle Designer ES4. The documentation states to (Click Tools - > Macros -> Accessibility Check.) however Macros is not listed in my tools menu. When I view the form in Acrobat XI the accessibility pane is also blank even after running the “Setup Assistant.

Did I miss something or has anyone run into this?

Dies funktioniert für die Nutzer aber nicht ?

Weiss jemand warum - die Einstellungen sind alle korrekt und auf meinem PC funktioniert der Button auch.

You can do it from the Paragraph palette. If you don't see it, go to Windows menu and select the Paragraph menu option and it should show up on the right-hand side. Then select multiple fields and click on the icon in the Paragraph palette that denotes 'align bottom.' This is at the very top of the palette.

It is as Bruce already said.

You have to import the external XML into your form. If the file has changed, you'll have to import it again I'm afraid.

I have an external program that creates an xml file. I don't know how to define the xml file as a database. But I am looking for the form to pull information from the file every time it loads so if the xml file changes the autofill data in the form also changes. I can upload an example of the file if you would like.
