ITU.R BS.1770-3 Loudness not implemented in Adobe Audition CC 2014 Amplitude Statistics

The amplitude statistics feature in Adobe Audition CC 2014 is a great tool to quickly analyze the long-term loudness; however, it is currently using an old standard (BS.1770-2) that has been replaced by the new BS.1770-3 for about a year or so now. Is there any reason why Adobe has not updated the amplitude statistic tool to BS.1770-3? I noticed that in the Adobe Audition training videos the TC Electronic Radar is mentioned, which does have the current LKFS reading standard but it is in real-time. While useful, it slows you down since you have to sit through the entire program to get the LKFS reading, unlike the amplitude statistics that scans the file quickly. Please advise.

If you play a file sampled at the wrong rate at a standard 44.1k rate, it will work fine, just come out at slightly the wrong speed and pitch (fast and high), so it won't be that.

I Have also had this breakthrough today. But I can't by some reason contol on channel 1-8 from logic. I can only control strips 9-32. When select bank I get to choose from strips 9-16 and 25-32. I need to browse through all the channels in order get to 17-24. The main problem here is to get to control channel strips 1-8. and if I where to record audio through the desk I need to reset the routing to local, but how can I then also listen to the other recorded tracks from the desk via headphones. Is this possible? I'm sorry for my poor english vocabulary.

I Hope someone might help resolve this problem:)

Is "16 bit 44000" a typo for "16 bit 44,100"? If not, that's likely part of your problem since 44000 is a non standard sample rate.

Unfortunately, this is normal behavior in Audition, at least when bringing in clips from the file browser or deleting audio from the multitrack. I can do most any edit in ProTools without losing playback.

Is this the only file not playing? If so you may want to select all the goto "Edit--Convert Sample Type" then select a garden variety 44100 sample preset to see if that will fix it.

If the transport isn't playing, go to Preferences>Hardware and make sure that your sound device is correctly enabled. That's about the only thing that causes this to happen!

I have used Adobe for years...I loaded a file that is 16 bit, 44000 and plays when I put it into my Windows Media Player but it won't play when I put into Audition...there are waves and when I hit the space bar it says its playing and the play button is green but there is no audio and the line isn't moving

Does anyone get a slight pause when cutting audios in adobe Audition CC?

I'm used to in Cubase where it allowed me to cut without any pauses. I can just cut seemingly without it stopping.

Yes to using a slight pitch shift but I'd go slightly farther than Steve and suggest that you also split last word into a separate clip and do a very fast mix from normal to shifted pitch just to cover the transition.

I have never touched UI DPI scaling. It's set at whatever is the default value. The crash is apparently related to graphics though I presume because it bombs every time the display is beginning horizontal scrolling.

Thanks for the GoPro hint. I -do- have their software installed.

The workaround at this time is to revert Windows HiDPI scaling to 100%. The CFHDDecoder error sounds like a GoPro Cineform installation issue, as I believe that is the codec file. Do you have GoPro software installed?

I am seeing crashes - very reproducible btw - in that MS dll as well. I just installed a patched version as of today (11/11) and it still crashes in just the same way. If I set the playback preference to scroll the waveform display, it bombs the instant that horizontal scrolling would have begun. I have a dump file. I had one a month ago but support said they didn't need it. I need a fix or a workaround. Now! (I've reverted to the earlier version and it seems to work but complains when I start it, twice, about CFHDDecoder.dll being missing. It seems to work anyway.

This problem has been present since the initial release of CC 2014. Every time my credit card account is debited to pay for my CC subscription, I grumble. This is very poor customer service.

Sorry to disappoint you, but...

I suspect that the reason you found the keyboard under the controller surface settings is that it uses the same interface - but I'm afraid that's about as far as it goes. Audition doesn't support MIDI, which is the protocol you would need to be able to record the keyboard. Also, as a consequence it has no sounds available. This is fundamentally because Audition is an editor, not music creation software. This has been discussed at length here before, but nothing about this situation is likely to change. It's not an area in which Adobe has any significant experience at all, and they'd spend forever playing catch-up with the rest of the software that's done this for ages. The only way you could record the output of your Casio would be as audio from the device itself, which is clearly not what you're trying to do.

If you want to achieve the results you are looking for, you'd be much better served by using proper music creation software like Reaper, which is designed to do exactly what you want - although as an editor, it leaves a lot to be desired.

Connect my CASIO CTK-4200 to Audition

Hi! I got an new Casio CTK-4200 about half a year ago and now I want to connect it to audition to record some music. I have connected the casio to my PC via USB and installed the latest Audition from creative cloud. The keyboard shows up in the device control panel as Casio USB-MIDI. I have basiclly no experience at all with recording software. My dream scenario would be:

To use the Casio keyboard as a controller for synth sounds in audition (that is, I choose sound settings in audition, play on the casio)
If the above does not work, I would simply like to record whatever is being played on the keyboard

I can not however work out how to do any of these in the Audition software. I found the keyboard in the "controller surface" settings in preferences so the software clearly knows about the Casio.

Id be glad to get any help on this subject. Thank you!

If you are careful, you should be able to pitch-shift just the final syllable of the affected word downwards - although I suspect that this will make the speaker sound a little strange if you overdo it - you'd have to experiment. It would almost certainly sound better than rolling the volume off though.

I've got an audio of someone talking and he ends in an unnatural high, it's like he didn't close the sentence. Is there a way to change the pitch so that he closes a sentence on a natural low? I trailing the volume off, but I was wondering if there is a better more natural sounding way to do this?

No, unfortunately the scripting function from Audition 3 and before hasn't yet made back into even the latest versions of Audition. Further improvements into the new method of recording favorites have been requested to make Batch Processing much more customisable.

No, Audition was completely re-written for cross platform compatibility with Mac and PC.The Scripting functions that allowed you to do that has never been made available in the latest versions of Audition. Recording Favorites is a completely different function I'm afraid.

I've ran across this thread a few times in the past, researching how to change the default "save as" format, and thought the same thing about Bob's replies.

Quite simply, I think the misunderstanding is most of us are not editing .MP3's numerous times. We record as .WAV and save as .MP3's. I know that I record directly into Audition, which could be TV audio, voice work, guitar, etc., I then edit and then save the mix-down to an .MP3, which is then emailed out so radio stations have access to the clips. (I work for a radio prep service.)

I realize this feature request seems small to some, but to me it was a big deal. I still use Audition 1.5 99% of the time because of this missing feature. I usually only switch to 6 to take advantage of the auto crossfading as that makes short work of some of the editing I need to do.

After reading the later replies I think by creating a couple of shortcuts I can do what I need to do. I just did a quick "Ctl-A" to "Select All" and then a "Ctl-S" to "Save Selection As" and it seems to work fine.

Bob, I realize a few seconds, and a few extra clicks, isn't a big deal to most people, but I went back and looked, in the last 10 years I've recorded / edited / saved and sent over 61,000 clips, so, yes, while those few seconds do make a difference, more than that, those few less mouse clicks will cause less damage on someone like me that has serious repetitive stress injures from doing their job.

Try experimenting with some of the Effects/Filter & EQ. To start try the Old Time Radio preset in the Parametric Equalizer effect. You can then experiment with adjusting some of the controls.

But you can certainly still save out a Noise Print and use that when you record your Favorite and the settings will be saved in the Favorite. But there is no way of recalling the file when you do your Batch processing, it will just use the NR settings saved in Favorite.

Is it possible to have an autosave in Audition? Let me explain you. I could use audition to make a wav file of the measurement, but , some times I have to leave the sound level meter for several day by my client. There is the possibility that the program save as a preset rate recorded so do not lose the data? Finally, Audition continues to record until you stop it or it has a maximum limit of time? It depends on the hard drive where I installed the program ? I could install the program on a 200 GB HD …… Is it an idea ?

Cant see the video in Audition

We recorded a video in MP4 format. I have imported it into audition. I see both the audio and video portions and put them in a multitrack session. The video does not play along with the audio. I get a freeze frame or just blank black.???

I wish it was that easy. I'm doing a playthrough of Metro 2033 and thought it'd be cool to add a gas mask sounding voice over for when you are in areas that you have it on. I've got 4 hours of recording to go through and edit unfortunately and not sure how long it'd take doing that, but I appreciate the help!

I'm afraid that Audition does not have the tools required for the analysis of sound level data - it isn't suitable for this purpose at all.

The cause of this issue has been identified, and the code is being corrected to prevent the crash. Once that's done, the fix needs to be tested and validated along with other bug fixes before an update patch can be released. Unfortunately, I cannot provide specific dates at this time.

When you record the Favorite it will use and store the settings of the Noise Footprint used at the time. It can't load new footprint's from a file. So provided all your audio files that you wish to Batch Process have the same Noise Footprint then you are OK.

I see the problem at 100% scaling in the Waveform editor. It reliably crashes at the instant that the waveform display should begin scrolling during playback. I opened a report on this a while back but have no resolution. It's crashing in the Microsoft runtime library - MSVCR110.dll. System is Win 7 Pro SP1 with an Nvidia GTX560 display card.

When I submitted the report before, Support said not to provide a dump - that they already thought they had enough.

See if any of the advice here helps to get back your Stereo Mix record option. But Microsoft may have deliberately disabled it to stop people recording audio off the net.

Don't know if it is applicable in your case but there have been some bugs discovered causing crashes with Windows scaling being set at other than 100%.

Or just put your hand over your mouth when recording. These things always sound better if you can create them acoustically rather than trying to use digital effects although using a combination can be useful.

Mi rivolgo a coloro che usano Audition perchè avrei una necessità e gradirei sapere se il programma mi può esseer di aiuto prima di procederne all'acquisto.

Sono un tecnico in acustica ambientale ed avrei necessità di elaborare dati acquisiti mediante fonometro in classe 1, come richiesto da normativa.

Vorrei capire se il software può sopperire adalcune mancanze delle procedure fornite dal produttore dello strumento attualmente in mio possesso.

Prima domanda:

Posso far sì che Audition registri un segnale audio che gli arriva attraverso una scheda di acquisizione per più giorni? C'è un limite fisico (spazio su disco ad esempio) ? Il programma provvede a salvare a cadenza il file mentre registra oppure tutto deve essere fatto da tastiera a fine registrazione? Se io faccio partire la registrazione, lui procede sino ad interruzione ?

La domanda è motivata perchè il fonometro potrebbe essere lasciato per diversi giorni in un posto anche poco accessibile.

Passiamo al post- processum.

Posso elaborare il file audio acquisito ottenendone per esempio dati in bande di frequenza a larghezza costante (1/1 ottave/ 1/3 ottava, 1/12 ottava) ; ho visto dalla versinoe demo che ho scaricato che posso lavorare in FFT ma non ho trovato la banda costabte.....

Posso ottenere informazioni sui livelli di pressione sonora ? Leq oppure LAeq ? LFmax oppure LASmax del tracciato integrale, ioppure di una parte di esso ?

Posso esportare i dati in file Excel ?

Il mio fonometro acquisisce dati ogni 125 ms, ma il file audio è in continuo. é possibile estrarre i valori di livelli ad intervalli temporali prefissati ?

Low pass filter set to roll off at about 2-3kHz (or thereabouts) and then you have to find a way to record the vocal with all of the breath noises, which would be much more obvious.

Of course, one option is to record what you want whilst wearing a gas mask!

Hi All

I've been a CoolEdit/Audition user for many years and am currently using CS-5.5. I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 and now find I can no longer record streaming audio.

The only input device that shows on my system is my webcam microphone. There appears to be no Line-in and no option to select it.

The soundcard incorporated in my PC is Realtek.

Can anyone help? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
