Displaying and choosing records in form

I have my livecycle form, and my access database.

I can get the livecycle form to display records, and have buttons to navigate through them. How do I 'pick' a record to display permanently so I can then send the form. Currently, when I send the form to myself, the very first record is the only one that displays unless I change the record again. When I send the form, I want the record that I choose to display and NOT have the option to change.

Any ideas?

I don't understand why reader XI crashes when I open a XFA PDF. It perfectly works with reader X.

You can define different patterns for your fields,

Similar to Acrobat Forms feature: Special - allows special formatting - i.e. zip code, phone, social security number, or arbitrary mask.

Hi,

you can use XSLT to transform the outgoing data.

I never did this for adding a DTD but Google found some solutions for the term "xslt add dtd" so it should be possible.

I have a form created in LiveCycle ES2. I have mapped some fields to a schema that causes LC to generate XML that adheres to the import format of one of my company's internal databases.

There is one problem: the system's import function looks for a DTD DOCTYPE declaration between the XML declaration and root element. I've tried including the declaration in the schema, but LC does not include it in the mapped values or the export. I've spoken with the vendor about declaring the DTD as part of the import function and they have given a firm "No."

Is there a way to insert one line of markup into the XML that LC generates in the submit action before the XML is attached to the e-mail?

Here we are about to end 2014 (the Year) and I have the exact challenge. Build in Adobe with Foxit compat required.

DId you get an answer? I'm pretty sure it's a Foxit Limitation.

I have deleted the field and inserted a new one. I added a new page and copied the entire contents and this is where I get the issue is the copied content within the subform. The other date pickers are just fine.

Can you delete the field that is not working and drag a new date/time field into your form? Does it not work only in a certain part of the page or all parts?

Expanding and collapsing document content with a toggle button

I am looking into getting LiveCycle but before I do I was wanting to know how difficult of a process it is to create portions of a document that expand and collapse (not just a particular field). I have a microsoft word document that I have inserted headers into. They have a toggle button next to the section header which when switched will expand and collapse that entire section (moving the content of the document below it up and down as the section is collapsed and expanded). This is what I am trying to accomplish in my form. I am just curious if this is a relatively simple process in LiveCycle or if this is something that takes a lot of programming knowledge and experience. Also, is it possible to import information from a word doc, or a PDF into LiveCycle to have something to start with or do you have to create it from scratch in LiveCycle?

First, you should add spaces to your script to make it more readable.

Then you should check that you've used the exact naming of your fields (names are casesensitive).

I can see that the field is named Fill_Wt but in your script you've used fill_wt so I assume the other fields have use uppercase letters included.

I have a pdf form that I need to have one of the text fields changed to expand and flow to a second page if possible as well as move the fields below down to accommodate expanding text box, I have found a few solutions here but none are working for me.

I have a form with two numeric fields (gross_wt, tare_wt). I have a third field fill_wt (set as calculated-read only)

I have inserted two new pages into my form. The other pages where I have the date/time field work fine but when I go to add another date/time field, the automatic fly out window that allows you to chose the date does not appear. Can someone help me please? I am really new to LiveCycle, forms etc., so please when you respond talk to me like it is my first day with the program;) thank you so much.

User Created Dynamic Table

I have a form and for example there are 4 goal tables on this form. Each table has questions that the user, using the fillable form, answers. Is there a way to creat this livecycle form with 3 goals on it and a way for the user to ADD a 4th goal if they need it? I know how to make the form flowable and dynamic, but how would i allow the user of the form, in Adobe Reader to click on a button to add a new TABLE (not just a new row). Is this possible?

All my empty fields are set to display non-breaking space if undefined (to prevent word "Empty" from appearing in empty fields when the form is printed out). I've used a custom validation script for phone number field, but I can't figure out how remove the non-breaking space (String.fromCharCode(160) that appears before the phone number if the field have been clicked on directly rather than through tab. Any suggestions?

Here is the validation script I have on an Exit event:

Here's a link with instructions on how to enable Adobe Reader as the default PDF Reader, and disable each browsers default PDF "Viewers".

IE doesn't have a built in PDF Viewer, and other browser's PDF Viewers such as Chrome and FF, don't allow submissions.

Note: Adobe Reader users need to have the form's usage rights extended so Adobe Reader users can submit PDF format. Otherwise, Adobe Reader users are limited to submitting data formats only (FDF, XML, XFDF, XDP), not the whole PDF.

Also: For compatibility and security reasons you should set the submit button URL to point to a server-side script such as PHP or ASP.net, and bypass client-side email software.

Problem with Submit via Email Button

When I open the PDF on my desktop and click the submit button it gives me the option of internet or desktop email program. Both of those work fine. But when I load the pdf onto my website, open the form from there and try to submit it neither option works.

1. When I click the Desktop Email Application - nothing at all happens. (we use groupwise)

2. When I click the internet email button it asks me to name the file but then when i try to save it i get this error: Acrobat Could not open the file XXXXXXXXX Detailed Error: A file error has occured.

PS - Also it does not work in chrome or firefox which is annoying you have to use IE. If you have thoughts about how to fix that I would appreciate it! I tried lowering the adobe version from 9 to 8 which did nothing and when i lowered it to 7 it displayed but nothing worked in the form.

Dynamic Form and XML

Hello,

sorry for my bad english. I am a german user and a newbie with Livecycle Designer. I hope i will get help here.

I have created a Dynamic Form, with one table in it which can be duplicated.

When it comes to XML Export, all Tags in the duplicated Table have the same name. I want to import the values to Excel, but i can´t get the Values from the duplicated tables seperately. Excel summarizes it in some way, and only allows me to import them alle together in a little table... That is not what i want. I want to have them all at different places.

So is it somehow possible to change the XML Structure or to give a new name to the second table (which i have duplicated in the PDF) with Javascript Event or anything? So that i have a unique path / tag in the final XML for each value?

I hope i could explain myself understandable.

Error message "failed to load an application resource (internal error)" when checking form in LiveCycle preview PDF

After creating a form, when I click on Preview PDF, I am now getting an error message "Failed to load an application resource (internal error)". Not sure why this has started recently, but it makes it impossible to check my forms for clients before I send them. I can open them outside of the program in Adobe Reader, but it is faster to check the form within LiveCycle and change them if necessary. Please help!

In our ES4 environment I used the FormsIVS test tool to import some xml data into a reader extended form and the data does not appear in the form.

Hello everyone,

I am new to LiveCycle and I am trying to create a form that has sections which will expand or collapse if you click on them. I do not mean text fields that expand to fit the required information. I'm sure you've all encountered these online where if you click on the heading of something, more information about it will expand below pushing the rest of the page down.

So I am wondering if something similar to this can be accomplished for a form in LiveCycle. So that the people who fill out my form can just click on the sections that apply to them and only fill out the related surveys (without having to scroll through unnecessary information).

Hope someone knows how to do this.

Thank you WASIL for your reply. With a bit more testing we have found that the ES4 RenderPdfForm widget will not import the xml data if the target form is reader extended. If we remove the reader extensions just prior to importing the xml, the form is rendered with the data. This was not the case in ES2. Can you confirm that this behavior in ES4 is to be expected? Can someone help me with this? I have a similar issue. The test text overflow form is almost exactly what I need.

Im trying to get the text field Concat box only Concat text in (TextField1) but when it Concat's I want a ";" after each 10 characters. Please help!

So essentially users can enter or paste into TextField1 a column of numbers:

0123456789

1234567901

2364567890

and TextField5 will separate like this:

0123456789;1234567901;2364567890

I'm talking about Windows Explorer, not Internet Explorer.

If you're opening a file from inside a browser window, make sure you've saved a copy to a sensible place on your local hard drive before editing it. You can't save back to the server.

Sorry, need to be more specific, I did compatibility settings in explorer because the completed pdf form is auto generated and populated from a web based application called Collaborator and the preferred browser is Explorer. The problem is in Designer es4, I insert encryption in the form on the submit event and need to edit and review all the time. To save time I save and open the form in adobe reader XI because the pdf viewer in es4 is too slow with bulky scripts.

After editing a form I can't save the form to the same file name. I receive the following message:

Needless to say, the form is not shared or open anywhere else.

I've set permissions on the file, folder and designer, I've set compatibility on the urls, but nothing makes a difference. Imagine saving every few minutes and having to give a different file name every time. I have to keep on deleting previous versions.

Any ideas? I'm quite desperate....

Install Mobile Forms IVS

When I log into the CRX system, there is no option to download the mobile IVS package. Im assuming this is what I need in order to get forms to render correctly to HTML. Ive installed EVERYTHING from the LCM, but again; there is no IVS package. Anyone know what to do?

Im trying to create a Numeric Field with multiple lines and limit the character per line to 10

ideally I want the users to be able to paste in a 10 digit number similar to this:

0001234567

0001234568

0001234569

I can set my pattern to num{zzzzzzzzzz} but not sure how to allow multiple lines

Im using Adobe LC ES2 Verison 9.0

Hi,

I thought I followed the instructions you provided but I am still having some difficulty with expanding text. I am able to get the textboxes to expanding, however, the subform is running off the page (without creating a new page.) Can you let me know what I did wrong and how I can fix that.

(Also, how can I upload the form so you can see it?)
