I just signed up for 1&1, and I am having a heck of a time trying to get everything set up properly.

The interface has changed on the 1&1 site from the links that you provided above, so they don't really help me as much.

Do you think if I have all the DNSWatch information coming up proper, that I just need to wait a little longer for both BC and 1&1 to collaborator and talk to each other?

Hi,

I have two sites that were hosted with business catalyst as test sites. The sites have since been hosted elsewhere after being created in Muse.

The problem I have is that I cannot find a way to delete the sites from my account. I receive analytics every week for two sites that no longer exist. I have searched around and I seem to be getting pointed to the same thing. Sign into the site and then admin and I should be able to delete. However even though the sites show as option to choose when login in to business catalyst, I cannot log in as they no longer exist.

Can anyone help.

je ne sais pas si l'endroit est bien choisi pour ce genre de question mais je ne trouve rien d'autre.

Voilà j'ai un problème car je voudrais récupérer le numero de série d'un logiciel qui n'a pas été enregistré sur mon compte adobe.Le problème c'est que c'est mon entreprise qui l'a téléchargé il y a un an et il est impossible de retrouver le mail avec le numéro.

Je ne sais pas si je me fais bien comprendre.Quelqu'un sait-il comment faire ou comment contacter Adobe car je ne trouve aucune façon de les contacter sur le site.

Why can't I see the DEVELOP option when I've been added as a user (Admin & User) to an existing website?

I've been added as a user to live website to be able to manage it. I've been added as ADMIN & USER. However, I'm unable to see the DEVELOP option to be able to make the changes I need to make.

As a test, I created a dummy site and added the owner of the website I'm trying to manage as an ADMIN user on my site and they CAN see the DEVELOP option.

Any ideas as to why I can't see the DEVELOP option on their site when I log in?

Hi,

This error usually displays when the user logged in is originally defaulted to another site.

You'll need to reach direct support so they can help update this to your current site. Have your login email ID + the site where this error is throwing.

Kindly note that based on the investigations I have made there is nothing wrong with our system.

I believe that what has happened to you was related to the fact that for paying the overdue you have tried to updated the credit card details in the system (Partner Portal), while for paying overdue invoices you must log in to the administration area of the site.

Updating the credit card details for several times has generated the three 1.00 authorizations you are talking about.

Hi bluetaildesign,

Not sure how is that working on one instance but not other. Can you please try to use mail.b.hostedemail.com as incoming and/or outgoing mail server on iphone and try again. This hostname has the SSL certificate installed on it and can be used for transferring the emails in a secured manner.

So I have spent the majority of my evening with GoDaddy support - I have an email plan through GoDaddy and recently just switched the website to my adobe muse site via changing the name servers. Change went through instantly, but the emails stopped working. I knew this would happen and I contacted GoDaddy for the email MX records so I could have them pointed for the least bit of down time possible as the emails are connected to our booking engine and payment notifications. I promptly added the MX records through business catalyst. Several hours later the email is not working and no emails are going through. Do you have any idea how long it takes to propagate on Adobe's End? I am worried that it is not going to work right - it should not take this long! Help!

I have an email setup on my own Business Catalyst website with a few alias's. The email account is setup in my Outlook 07 Windows 7 64 pro desktop, and I can send and receive emails from all of the alias's and the main email. However I am noticing that on some emails from clients, I get the email on my desktop Outlook 07, but it never shows up on my iPhone.

EXAMPLE: Today I received an email at 12:57pm. It shows on my desktop. But never showed up on my iPhone. Once I saw this I forwarded the message from my desktop to the same email address that my client had sent his email to. Once I did that I did get the forwarded email of the original email on my iPhone. And yes, I have received other emails from the same client email address before on several occasions.

Problem is that I left my office at 12:15 and did not see this 12:57 email until I got back to the office much later in the day. And thus, ending my day very badly due to.....??? A) the Business Catalyst email I have setup is not setup correctly B) my email settings in my iPhone is not setup correctly.

Wondering if anybody else has experienced the same issue and figured out what step was missed.

Well, back from hospital after having my nerves un-trapped and with the use of one hand, lots of pain, a big pack of pain-killers and a bottle of liquid Morphine, i have a question!!

(scuse my typing!) ok, i worked this out by inviting client through dashboard as admin and giving her instructions on how to 'Upgrade'. once ive had a week or so rest will get back to it.. by then (unless they have completed successfully by themselves) i wiil push the site live to the url etc..

i have also added her colleague over in LA as a new 'user' and needed some advice on which duties i can remove safely from his 'roles' settings? as you know, the site and the main templates are done thru muse. i want him to be able to add new catalogs and products, add blogs, respond to form inputs and orders etc etc.

to be safe, which titles should i remove for his role? can i remove create/delete web pages or will this stop him adding products in any way? ive set up a shop-main-template for new catalogs etc and there will be no need (at the mo) to add any new pages as such to the whole of the site. he just needs the power to add items to their store, create email campaigns, create/edit blogs etc which they always wanted control over. i intend on making some custom videos showing them how to do certain things plus, i like the look of the bcguru video app for the dashboard, thats pretty cool.

thanks for any help you can give me. im starting to really get my head around it all now and excited about the future utilising bc in my business. i am seriously considering starting from scratch with a bc template for my own website. it HAS to be 100% because it will be my agency showcasr for other bc sites. i think that maybe i could still do all the 100% slideshow design, portfolio stuff etc without muse widgets and steer well clear of the css muse spews out. i think this first job has been an excellent learning curve as far as seeing how over-complicated things can get with muse and bc. it HAS worked - and pretty well - (will post link once clients are happy) but like you said, the purist side of things and making sure i have full use of bc is so much more important than going for a 'quick-fix' site-build route.

Also, to get the chap who will be adding products to the store an account on her BC site, is this done on the Partner Portal? Will they only see their site on the dashboard when they log-in?

Finally, how do I add her Paypal info so we can get the store working? Can I hand that over to them too or is this something I have to do because again, if thats the case, I guess I need her Paypal info too!

Well, Ive had a busy weekend with family but Tuesday is my operation date and I desperately need to find this info out;

I NEED to 'Upgrade' the site I have built for my customer so we can go live. She's INSISTING (knowing I am having op) that we get the site live. I have hit the upgrade button on her site but I see 2 things: Either I can be billed for the site OR, I can choose Adobe to bill customer. Yes, that would be great! I don't want to be responsible for the on-going cost, but it seems I need my clients credit card info . . that is crazy! My client isn't going to give me her cc info?? What on earth do I do?

Please point me towards the info where I can see what to do next.

Also, just so you know, on this particular site I don't want the client editing much at all. If they choose to add items to the store that is totally up to them but, I am sure they will come back to me for most things. The site wont have a great deal of items for sale but I am sure she will want to up-date her own blog etc.

I used to run a very large website on an Actinic Developer site so I am happy editing the templates, creating templates from files within Muse (along with some design) etc. but I have to agree, the Muse side of things (especially the css etc) has driven me up the wall a little but, I have managed to get my head around it all and the site works really well. I decided from Day 1 to go with Muse as I needed to do this very quickly and also, I wanted to get my learning curve going with Muse. I used to use Dreamweaver (even when it was owned by Macromedia) and I am beginning to think it may have been a better idea to do it this way!

The problem I have found is info on learning BC is very thin on the ground. At first, I even considered using Actinic, but because of my Adobe usage with CC I was sold on the idea of keeping it 'all' together. Yes, it's a bit of a new learning curve but what isn't these days? And maybe I will move to Dreamweaver. I tried to view the site in Dreamweaver - erghh...bit of a mess! The code is crazy! But I liked the idea of being able to use the widgets etc and treat the site from a designers point of view instead. This time!

So, how does one get the site Updated then? Do I have to do it and pay? Do I then have to invoice the client monthly? Also, is it possible then for me to have my own site for free as mentioned above?

Hi there,

Expiration date:

This is a period of time it will stop login and FTP access from working. But you can login, or go to your partner portal as a BC partner to extend this period and you can do so for a period of time. So do not worry about it.

It is there to give you a period of time to get a site online, but if you do not, do not worry you can extend it and it wont just be deleted right away.

Muse wise... I would disagree on it but I am a purist and into my web standards and so on. In terms of eCommerce etc the client does not touch Muse, they will use BC for all of their management and you need to ensure the Muse only options are off so they can update pages etc.

Everything BC setup, layouts, tags, modules etc can be found here - http://docs.businesscatalyst.com/support

Please note that Muse does not handle a lot of the more detail stuff like layouts, tags and you are not utilising all BC can be with Muse. You will need to at least use the develop area in BC, HTML, CSS etc to do more.

Before you can take payments and set up a payment gateway you will need to hit the upgrade button and do that - Yes.

Hi everyone,

This is my first post in here

I am a full CC 2014 member and I am building a website in Muse and hosting it on BC for a client. I am also building my OWN new site to be hosted on BC and have a couple of questions;

Firstly, I see in the Dashboard on Partner Portal, that both site addresses have 'expiry' times? Both sites will have stores so I opted for the last in the list when setting them up (as suggested on the excellent video 'Adding Business Catalyst to your Muse sites') to have full e-commerce etc. Ive had to stop the design of my own site at the mo as I have a paying client and wanted to use BC and Muse to give them a superb website. I AM getting there (and extremely pleased with the results so far ) but I am a little worried about this expiration date. Does it mean I MUST Upgrade the sites before this time? Will they just disappear? What if Im not ready by then? The reason Im concerned is that I have an operation on Tuesday 7th October to un-trap a nerve in my arm. This has caused me years of pain and problems having been a pro illustrator and designer for over 20 yrs. Im a little worried that my recovery time may screw with me getting the sites finished BEFORE the expiry date, so a little info on that would be greatly appreciated.

Also, Im at the stage almost where I want to bring the client in to show them how to use BC to manage their contact forms, store purchases etc etc and Im a bit worried as I can't find any info on how to do this just yet?

My client is an ex-movie star. She was in a horror film in the 80's and now, she has new fans who have tattoos of her character from this movie and we are building the site to showcase their ink of her on their skin. It's pretty cool! Because of the horror element I'd really like to launch the site just before Halloween and funnily enough (ooh, spooky!) the expiration date for her site is 31st October! But, my website (which will be my design business and basically my agency as a self-employed designer etc) is due to expire on the 29th! I know I can't get mine finished before that and Im really concerned about what to do next? I understand that I must hit the 'Upgrade' button but I have no idea what happens after this?

So, I need to upgrade my clients site first. Can she do this and input cc payment info? Can she easily add her Paypal info to get her shop working or do I need to do this? Im sure she doesn't want me to have her cc details! And how do I get her to log-in using her own account that only sees HER site and not mine (or any others I will build in the future)?

Finally, I noticed that on the Partner Portal there is a strap line which states I can have my own agency website for free if I have a paying client - is that correct? If so - that is awesome!! And if so, how do I do that so I can assure my website on BC doesn't disappear. If I could sort that first I could just forget about it (stop panicking!) and then concentrate on finishing her site and getting it published and live (so I can get paid! )

Any info is most appreciated. And after the op, maybe working and typing is gonna be easier? I hope so! I need two hands for Photoshop!

Otherwise, if you log into your Partner Portal (http://www.businesscatalyst.com/Admin/Index.aspx?to=PartnerPortal) > My Sites and select your site, you can view a list of associated URLs including your System and Secure URL. You will be able to log into your site successfully using either of these URLs and than navigate to Site Settings > Site Management in order to delete the site.

I soon worked out that this is not possible. Now that I want to delete the site I can't log into it because it is pointing to the sub-domain.

Looks like I need someone from BC to get to it via the back end and nuke it for me!

That is not correct.

When you set any page as your start page (in a page click the action drop down button in the top left) or do so via the domain manager then www.domain.com will work. This is standard 101 feature and of course it works and is possible

I've published a site to BC and it is live. Thought everything was fine ... but now I realize that one must type in a "www.domain.com/index.html" to go to the live site, instead of just ending the URL with a .com (which will take you to the standard "coming soon" page).

Any pointers on how to fix will be greatly appreciated!

I agree Liam but my feeling is when we are in difficulty for simply problems, to find the real answer can take too much time by the web adobe.

As an other example : I feel completely alone since I put my new domain name on my website. It does not work even if I followed the all instructions pages of BC help. So what can I do more ? And I pay to use this program.

I know that is the result of this new world with only automatic robots ways but frankly, this is not good at all.

Talk to people is fine and more friendly and more faster. And, we get the impression that somebody care about who we are.

Anyway, lot of bla bla bla. It is what it is.

There is no BC support via phone. So going through Adobe wont help you directly get support help. Live chat via the support link in the top right of the admin is the only proper way to contact Support via live conversation. Or you create a ticket or post on these forums your problems.

Live Chat does exactly the same thing, and doesn't work at all. I've got 3 sites in limbo right now, and don't know how to contact Adobe.

So, how do I let them know. Their "contact support" is a circle that goes back and forth between 2 pages, never giving me a way to post anything, or even open a ticket. ("Before accessing your case management page, please log in to your site, and click the 'help and support' link:", which comes right back to this Adobe Business Catalyst Help & Support page).

And Live Chat does exactly the same thing. So I have nobody to ask. So far paid almost $1,000 US on subscription since CC started, and I don't get the same help I got from a $4.95/month hosting account anywhere else on the web.

And don't get me started about the lack of basic e-mail.

So I need help ASAP, since 3 sites I work on have had their name servers changed, and are dark right now.

When I "associate existing domain", and enter a domain I own and have configured from a registrar, I get an error.

Need current answer to how I "delete all records associated with this domain before re-adding it".

All name servers are changed, DNSwatch.info shows the sites at BC's servers.

Hi,

I am a business catalyst partner and web designer / developer.

I want to delete an old played site on BC, which was upgraded for one of my customers.

The site is under his subscription and listed in my partner portal and I want to re-create a new site from scratch under his annual paid subscription for him while delete the old play site. The CRM Data as well other customer data in the site is not relevant and does not need to be migrated.

Is it possible to create a new site based on a different ecommerce template and re-assign it to my customers subscription / account, if I delete the old site before?

I would like to avoid a migration process from another trial site if possible as no data needs to be kept. I do not want to find and re-place all web app specific id's if possible.

Though I find no function in the partner portal to delete a site without loosing the whole subscription of my customer?

I did rise a ticket with Adobe but it seems they proposing to do this for me in the background instead of me being able to do this on my own?

Is this a real limitation of the system or do I not understand the process to do this on my own please?

We should be able to re-assign sites to different subscriptions and delete and recreate sites in BC without the help of the support and without loosing our customers subscription? Imagine how embarrassing to ask your customer that he has to give his credit card again even if he would maybe refunded for the time remaining of the subscription (annual payment method)?

Help would be greatly appreciated.

I am also happy to pay for someone who can explain me the process in detail as this topic is urgent for me.
