I'm looking to set an expiry date for a secure zone and I'm not seeing a clear answer. How do you set a secure zone for a 7 day trial?

How can I make a web app that exists in a product page template, but displays data that varies from product to product?

I am trying to make a web app that displays different educational features for toys. I have all of the categories laid out and ready to go. They're are supposed to go in that tabbed section, which exists on the module template for individual large product view. I am unable to find a way to display different educational features on different product pages. Is there a way I can do this?

Hey there,

Check out the tags available in your list view. You will see one for edit. This will be a link to the edit layout for a web app item. The owner of that web app item will see that link if they are logged in and will be able to edit it.

Note: You will need to reset the layout to get more custom fields if you ever edit the web app with new or changed elements.

Webapp search combine fields

I'm trying to create a quick search for a webapp. They would like the one input field (e.g keyowords) to search across 3 of the webapp fields. Keywords, suburb and postcode. Is this possible? I can see how to insert the webapp search fields (all available fields in the webapp) but I'm not sure how I combine them so that there's 1 input box, that searches 3 fields. Can anyone help? I'll paste the code for the 3 fields that I need combined, if that helps at all.

Testimonials Web App not populating all testimonials

Adding Video to Product Page

I need to add some short videos to select products in our store catalog. I would like to have the video for the product exist as a poplet. I have tried to simple ad the video(hosted on our BC site) to the poplet section of the product. This didn't work, I didn't really expect it would be that simple. Any ideas on how I could achieve this?

Hi,

I'm looking to make an applications for iPad which involves the following:

- Use of Camera

- Use of GPS/Location

- Ability to load pre-set images (from web, or updatable via web) into the images taken. (but not merging)

Which Adobe packages will I need which involves the least scripting. (I can, but I'm lazy too)

I wish you could share the CEO's phone number and email address (although I will find it online one way or another) because I'd like to give him a piece of my mind for the incredibly crappy tech support. I spent $1500 buying software and expect to speak to a live Tech person and not post problems on a forum. There's a limit on being cheap! Long live the 1% and screw the rest!

If you could share it, that would be great!

Staff Directory - Blind Email Form

I have a client with a staff directory web app with over 200 employees. The web app includes typical fields such as Name, Title, Department, Image, Description, Phone, Email, LinkedIn. Since their site has launched, they have received an inordinate amount of junk mail due to the email addresses being directly exposed on the site.

What we'd like to do is utilize a singular generic contact form for the entire web app, but instead of sending submissions to a specific workflow it needs to go to the email address in the web app item.

Any thoughts on how one could go about this?

ive finally managed to set up a web app that simply displays an image, headline and text below - great. However what i want to do is to show this on my web page in 2 columns not one. I realise that the text style etc is done within Muse then translated across - however what about altering it from the stnadard listing to a 2 column listing...how would I do that?

We used a form for this idea. Just add a datepicker field and appointment options as a check list.

Web apps are not eCommerce and have no public access (outside) API so ignore those.

You can create 3rd party solutions that read that data and send it to BC via the API and you can source build that if you need to.

There is nothing in BC directly for what your asking for.

Hi,

before re I sign up to BC I want to check if this is possible..I've been told it is if I sign up to the commerce package.

basically I'm setting up a dogs rehoming website. The client will want to upload pics with descriptions themselves...so this would effectively create pages of images when needed...also it would be great to have search fields ie age etc etc

does anyone know if this would be possible?

Just there are two known bugs that wont cause them to work well. I know what your saying, but the login aspect and these makes it not a rock solid solution, and also the edit all concept with the control for me in the past has also been very ropey for clients in terms of real world use. For me I put a big focus on how something will work in the real world and think through it very carefully.

Yep taking in account they login - yep as a developer scope they are solutions. option 1 is the better option, but option 2 for me does not really work well in that real world scope.

That is all I am saying Your not wrong, just not my ideals. I think though we may fine the original poster was not looking for the having to login option. which leads you to the stealth login method which then falls for the two options, which in a core sense again does work but has problems

Hey Liam, Yes, I have actually done both. Again, the first option requires someone to approve each trip that gets submitted. But, when someone edits/Accepts it (has to be logged in) It will get disabled. The second one loads all of the items, but hides the "accepted ones" with css. (again person has to be logged in). So, may not be the ultimate solution, but it is something to work with and expand on.

Option 1: This will work. Obviously, the user who wants to accept the trip would have to login to do so, but it works and is a solution. The only issue is the site owner will have to "approve" all trip submissions within the backend. However, when different user comes along and "accepts" the trip, then this will automatically disable it.

Option2: Yes it will. I have done this. Again, the user would have to be logged in though.

Option 1 note: Your missing the key thing. Even when you mark "Anyone can edit" - This is anyone who is logged in.

Option1) With this option you can have someone "accept" the trip and it disable the webapp item. You make sure in the webapp setup you have "anyone can edit" and "requires approval" checked. Now, when someone checks the button, which actually edits the item, it will disable it automatically. However, this is assuming that all items are already created. What I mean is, initially, when the item is created, it does not show and someone on your staff has to go in and "enable" the item before it will display on the site. But, maybe this is enough info to get you thinking. And you can find a workaround.

option 2) There is another (not so desirable) way that would "appear" to do what you need. You need to have an extra field(preferably a checkbox field) in your webapp item that when the button is clicked, it will also "check" this field. This field is placed in the layout as a "class" or data attribute. So then you could {display:none} If this class exists. For instance... you have a container in your list/detail view <div class="wrapper accepted{tag_accepted}">content here</div>. So then your css would be .accepted1{display:none;}. Also, in your webapp setup, make sure you check "anyone can edit"

It depends on how you intend to search. Is it an input field that requires a user to type in there search term? Or something else? such as a dropdown. If it is an input field that requires the user to enter in the search term, then just use the "keywords" field for your search. It will automatically search through the name of the webapp item and through whatever content is in the description field (wysiwyg content) and return results. However, note that if you have an item that is named "cat" (singular) and someone searches for "cats"(plural) then nothing will be returned. It is a good practice to somehow include a variation of your item name in the description field if that is what you want to get returned. So if your item is named "cat" then in the description, put a sentence somewhere that states "cats are cool" or just "cats". so if someone searches for "cats", an item will be returned. If you are looking for singular results, then you will need to create your own custom field, and populate it with your item name, and then use that custom field for your search either by input, or dropdown etc. This method is all manual entry, and is not good practice unless you are using dropdowns.

Are you using the search by state option? If not, just modify the function that is already included with the form. You need to make sure your numbers match the form you are using. See -checkWholeFormXXXX and Postcode_XXXXX (2 times)

If you are using the state option you will then use jquery/javascript to write your own function before running this one, or write your own completely. Either way, hope this points you in the right direction.

You can do the emails with web forms ajax etc but you can not automatically disable or remove the web app item. The person that posts the trip will need to do that. The web app item is under their ownership so only either via the admin or by themselves logging in and editing can you disable them.

Hi all, I've been building a "Ride board for students", type Web App, and I'm running into an issue. I have everything else working (Ish) so that a driver or a passenger can post a trip. This means he puts the details of his trip (Portland to Eugene) and then another student comes by and sees that they are going the same way. What I need is a way for the another student to be able to accept that trip listed by the driver or passenger. I would like to have a "accept" button just under each web apps item in the "List of web app items" so that when someone sees a trip they like or can use, the click the "Accept" button and the system emails the driver and the passanger the trip detail and then disables the web app item so that it's not in the list anymore. Is any of this possible? and if so, I would love to learn how. Any sugestions are appretiated. Many thanks in advance.

Thanks, Keihamm! I made it work a while ago by adding two extra fields to the web app called 'next' and 'previous.' For each web app, I enter the next and previous web app url manually and on the details page these urls are used for the next and previous link. It still involved a lot of manual "labor", but it works. If you know a way to do it more dynamically, I'd love to hear it!

I understand that you are probably concerned with data storage limits when asking this question. But, you can create thumbnails when displaying images within the photo gallery. This will allow a very large image to display very quickly within the gallery.

I am not sure I follow what you are explaining, but, I will try to give you an idea. Wrap all of your HTML in a div with a class of {tag_Status-{tag_Status}}. you can then style as necessary. However, if this involves hiding certain elements, then I would suggest using a custom template for each type of listing.

In short the answer is yes. But it is not out of the box functionality. I don't have time to explain in detail, but it involves custom templates, and displaying a single webapp item per page. Hope this gets you thinking.

Ok, first of all, each client will need to have their own "webapp ITEM". So for instance, you would have a single web app called "survey results". Each item within the web app would be a client. Such as "John Doe". I would use the wysiwyg editor to add survey results (as links to another site) in a list format or what not for each webapp item.( Web app item = client name = many links for surveys that client has filled out.). These links will have to be added manually from what I gather from your scenario. Anyways, to answer your question. Yes. You can display results based on who is logged in. When you are editing/creating a webapp item, you will notice under "more options" something labeled as "Submitted By". When you click "edit" it brings up a search box that allows you to search through your CRM database. Simply find the person/client that you want to show this particular web app item to and select their name. Then save. Now, on the actual page that the client lands on once they log in, you will need to insert the web app module labeled "list of submitted webapp items". By doing so, when John Doe logs in, he can only see what he "submitted"(remember earlier "Submitted By"). Hope this helps

I would like to get some ideas on the best approach to handle the following scenario.

We have around 100 clients subscribing to a survey service. The surveys are created and hosted on another system which are simply a link click away. That part is simple.

The business need to view responses as follows:

The client should login on the BC site, arrive at a BC landing page displaying the surveys he has commissioned, click on the link (there could be one or many) and views the survey responses on the third party survey system.

This feels like we are going to finish up with a secure zone for each client or is there a way of simply presenting client specific (and secure) Web app data based on their login to a single secure zone where the web app resides.

This would mean we can set the client up in a web app very simply and make admin much easier.

is there a module to book appointments?

Does not work like that.

When you create a web app, in the settings you can click and option which is "allow file upload" for people submitting web app items. This then shows one folder selection. You do not get any other option to specify different paths to put images in.

Hi there,

With a web app you can only submit to one folder, not different.

Web app submissions are also not associated with products and their catalogs.

It would be uploading with payment to one folder and you manually moving the images and creating the products.

Hi guys!

I have been watching BC gurus' tutorials on how to make costumer submitted web apps. I have made a new site with the "Satine Boutique"-template. What I want is to make users able to upload pictures to this site, into different product catalogs. (the users can sell theese items)

Is this even possible? The users have to pay a fee for uploading their items. So basically it will be an online store for anyone to sell stuff.

How can I do this in the easiest way possible?

Dealer Locator - Empty Zipcode Field

Hey All

I have setup a dealer locator and it is displaying everything fine and dandy. But what I have noticed is that there if you leave the zipcode blank and hit submits it will display all the locations which is something I do not want. Is there something in BC that can disable this or would I need some jquery to validate?
