It should just work, So I am not sure what it would be. I do not have time at the moment to figure what it would be sorry. I thought to just chime in at least to let you know that BC should be doing that and is for people like our clients.

It is supposed to. We have lots of clients weekly sending campaigns using the image manager and the email system generates the working campaign and images. So something may be wrong with your setup.

Appreciate the response. I had modified the script in the html view to point to the domain as an absolute address as per your reply which works fine.

I use the image editor to select images so is there any way of getting BC to automatically input the absolute address without having to go to the html view and change the script for every single image every time there is a new one.

This is the same for templates also,

Seems a real waste to have to do this repeatedly so I am assuming there must be a setting somewhere ??

Look in the HTML view. Where are the images pointing to? If it's something like, <img src="/images/header.jpg">, that is incorrect. It needs to be <img src="http://www.yourdomain.com/images/header.jpg">.

There area wide range of tools with varying degrees of success and ease of use. Of course one choice is to use one of the commercial email markeitng products such as mailchimp or campaignmonitor but recently I came across this tool which I have not yet tested fully however it looks very good - Porto - Responsive Email + Themebuilder Access - It builds responsive email templates for the different devices and according to their documentation all code is cross browser and email system tested. I found it on Themeforest where there is more complete information - Be sure to search for the Email Themebuilder as they also have some excellent HTML web templates. The themebuilder is only $19 and after yo have built your design it saves the result sa a HTML file sent to you as a zip file

To then set your template up for use with the new InContext editor you will need to edit your code to include the ICE Editor functionality. Don't forget to update the settings in your partner portal to enable the enhanced vidual editor for email marketing for this client as well.

Sorry for the big delay in replying here. (now back to this)

Not sure what you mean by site templates. Just to clarify , I am generating the campaign through the standard BC E Mail marketing menu option.

using this template this is a part of the email received

I have selected both "blank" template (and used the image editor to select any images from the hosted site) and tried also one of the existing templates from option 3 (I used the "News#1" template without modification as a test - result of the email received shown. Any previews on the screen are fine but anything received through a test email option contains all the text but no pictures and the red cross with the message "the linked image cannot be displayed, the file may have been moved renamed or deleted. Verify that the link points to the correct file or location"

Any further help appreciated

I've placed ice:editable="line" within the td element. This works well but I also need the link for the text within the td to be editable also so I tried the following:

I added ice:editable="link" within the a href but when I tested, this caused the line editable code to not work and neither did the link editable part work.

I thought maybe it was because I was nesting an editable region within another one. Could that be why it's not working? If yes, is there a workaround for this?

Hi there,

If you are using site templates to try and use for email campaigns this will not go well.

Is that what you are doing?

If so - stop.

Email systems are not websites so you can not use all the standard code, BC features (accept modules), javascript etc in emails. You need to make custom ones for email campaigns.

If you are not doing the above then an image to the server needs to be of good file size for images, hosted on the site and absolutely linked if coded manually or input via the editor so BC knows to convert the url on campaign publishing.

continually getting red "X" instead of images in email campaigns.

Have tried a campaign using a number of the standard BC templates with the same results. Only thing I can pick up at moment is that in the HTML code the image address is local and not absolute. So when I "preview" it appears fine but sending a "test email" never includes the images.

Seems to be a common issue but cant see many posted answers.

We have just raised this issue via Live Chat and they have identified this as a bug.

This was there response.

"I have investigated this issue further and this is something I can replicate. As you have mentioned, both {tag_recipientfirstname} and {tag_recipientname} should render 'Friend' if the associated information is missing from the contact's CRM, however it is not at this stage.

Therefore what I have done here is submitted this issue as a Bug. For your reference, the bug ID # is 3799812.

Not all of those people will have done the double opt in. If you pick one of those customers not showing up and look at them in the CRM - Subscriptions you should be able to see that.

It's ok - chatted to awesome Anshul in support and worked out doing it via a campaign list would be best.

Now works perfectly yaye! Tested also with an order and it updates name perfectly.

I'll leave this here in case anyone has same issue.

E.g someone signs up with email testingform@emailaddress.com.au then BC will strangely automatically make their First name field testingform which is wrong. E.g smittenkitten@gmail.com has her name as smittenkitten <- so when Polly Bloggs does an order her parcel gets addressed to 'smittenkitten' not Polly Bloggs which she enters in her Checkout page.

Has anyone found a fix or have a solution?

trouble with BC subscription box html when used in muse

Hey everyone. I have a very simple site in muse that i wanted to start building a list of subscribers from. I went to mailing list--actions-->"get subscribe box html code", then copied the code and pasted into muse. The box shows up but a lot of the other content is missing, disorganized, etc. Muse told me it was an html code issue with the box to delete it and see if my site looked right, it did. But i really need that box, otherwise I won't be building a client list. Any help would be great!

We have a profile page that allows a subscriber to secure zone to update their username, password etc.

My client wants to also show which email mailing lists the user is signed up. We have 5 mailing list. They would also like the user to be able to unsubscribe on this page.

I know that a person can unsubscribe in the email or we can manually do it the admin if they email our support team, but we want to make it easy.

Is this possible?

I have a WordPress (WooCommerce) e-commerce site, so I send transactional emails from my server (like user signup notifications, order receipts, etc.), so it's crucial that my emails arrive in my customer's inboxes.

Lately I've been pretty much obsessed with improving my email deliverability.

I've setup feedback loops (using this list: List of current Feedback Loops offered at ISPs) with most of the popular email providers, and I’m automatically handling the spam reports (unsubscribing the complainants).

I also used Winning Email - Email Deliverability Service, which was helpful for analyzing things in my email header, DNS records, or server config, and telling me how to fix the problems.

What other suggestions do you guys have for improving your email delivery rates?

Hi there, I use this many times and works just fine.

Have you checked the CRM entries for that? Do they have a first name in the CRM entered? If not then this is your problem.

Also probably just something you did on the forums but { tag_recipientfirstname} - You have that in the email layouts without a space correct?

In Business Catalyst, if you insert the tag { tag_recipientfirstname}, the tooltip on this feature advises that "First name of the recipient (replaces with 'Friend' if first name is empty)".

This is false advertising.

It does not replace with 'Friend', it just leaves it blank.

Obviously, this is a major problem when trying to send out personalized emails, and doesn't help us make the case for a client to use Business Catalyst instead of MailChimp, iContact, or any of dozens of other email tools that reliably provide this simple, simple feature.

When can we expect this simple, basic feature to function as advertised?

HTML Newsletter and Email Program Display Issues

I have been having some problems with my clients newsletters not displaying correctly in some versions of Outlook (specifically Office 2013 in Window 8).

The email is all distorted, text and images not properly sized, text issues ect.

I understand that different email clients handle html emails differently but I was wondering if anyone out there had any insight into how to resolve this or workaround it (other then using the link to view as a webpage, that works too of course) concidering a lot of people use this email client.

Any comments are much appreacited!

Like send a different workflow given the choice one makes on a form. If so then yes. You will need to use a little jQuery to make it work right.

Basicly you would set it up so that when you get the data you want you would select the right workflow in the background.

Or just change the text on the dropdown and let them choose that way.

so I added &OPTIN=TRUE to catwebformform45938

so I had this catwebformform45938&OPTIN=TRUE

Which actually did subscribe them to the newsletter

However, they still got -

a) The landing page after subscription now shows

Campaign Newsletter Subscriptions

[Newsletter] - requires you to verify your subscription.

b) The email received now has the link in it.

I tried also adding it back to where I had it before, but then it went back to not being subscribed.

How can I get the landing page and email to understand they are subscribed and dont need reminder or the link.

I cant seem to get the code to auto optin

I created a web form, which includes the newsletter checkbox for a newsletter email list. I hide that, and make sure it is checked, as we *** add &OPTIN=TRUE

Now the inline editor changes it to &OPTIN=TRUE and maybe that is my problem - no idea.

The problem is that, the subsrcibee does not get the optin email, which is good, but he is not subscribed either.

Partner / Admin incorrectly shown as opening campaign email

A client recently sent out an email campaign. When I checked the feed this morning, it showed me (both partner and highest level admin) as having opened and even clicked on campaign links, despite not even being on my computer at those times. This has happened with other clients and campaigns too, where I seem to be ghost-opening and clicking. Anyone else ever run into this? Any suggestions for solving other than removing me completely from the email list?

Hi Matt,

Although bug is still there....

I found that with ICE editor enabled, admin users by default have access to the ICE Editor and have to click the "</>" to enter HTML view. They don't see the friendly drop-down offering Rich View also.

The admin users have the "View Campaign HTML Code" permission enabled, not sure if that makes a difference to wether the ICE editor works or not?

This is still a bug and causing us much pain because none of our clients can use the Visual Editor. All they see is "</>".

We have enabled the Visual Editor and added the ICE regions to our template. AND we can use the Visual Editor when we login using our partner email addresses.

So it appears to work for partner roles but not for admin roles.

We have ticket ref 78564 with Adobe but it's with low level support and we keep going round in circles.

It seems like it would be a simple fix to enable this function for the admin role.

Bulk delete of customer details after soft bounce

Another item that has been requested time and time again over the years.

Anyone have a solution of how to delete Leads after a soft bounce, which never came through as a hard bounce. (I won't call them customers as there is no other information on them or purchases - just an email address, so there is no issue)

Nothing is easy in this system! Getting jack of it, and so are clients.

You can pull up the problem soft bounces, and fantastic, you can open in a new tab, instead of the STUPID pop up box.

But that is where the ease stops. I can not view the customer in a "New Tab" and then delete them.

I can only click on the link and view the customer, which means my list of all the soft bounces disapears.

After deletion, I have to go through the whole rigmarole again, of

going to the email campaign

Going to bounces

changing the sort criteria

waiing for the list

viewing the customer

deleting them

and starting again

There are over 200 bounces

Seriously !!

Again I point out this was on the wish list for years!!

I have a client I have had an email template for the past 5 months. They have been sending weekly emails using this template and the new editing. They went to send today and the template is broken, it says there is no ICE editable areas which there is, this template has been used for 5 months not a problem no it is. Has Adobe changed anything????
