Blog Comments have been disabled but spam comments are still being made?

With the increased number of spam comments on my blogs i was forced to disable the comments but every day i still have a comments list full of spam links to spam websites and comments from SEO companied looking for business.

I have captcha installed also but this has not stopped it.

Form Module embedded does not update when web-form is updated

I have issues where I create a form with the web-form tool, go to a page and embed the form as a module, everything works as described. Then, after several days, I need to add/change/delete a field. I go to the web-form tool, make my changes and update. The embedded module doesn't reflect the changes to the form. So far the only way I can get this to work is to copy the form, make changes on the new form, and then delete the previous embed module code and embed the new (copied) form. This isn't the way that BC says the embed form module is suppose to work. What is the issue?

Ok, I've checked the site linked here with Safari.

This is a cross question from Adobe Muse Bugs, as it also affects business catalyst.

I have 3 panels on my tooltip.

3 different descriptions for each one.

Preview mode shows up accurately on what I have designed, but when uploaded to business catalyst, only the distorted description from the first tooltip panel shows up.

The descriptions are really just rasterised text, with a translucent rectangle behind it.

This issue is not observed when viewing exported html file. Browser used to test is Google Chrome

What is the problem here? The widget? Muse? Business Catalyst? Chrome? And how do I fix it?

Hi,

We have a program that we demo with clients over adobe connect. It is written in python and Qt and uses OpenGL.

About 10 or 15 minutes into the demo the program will hard crash. This only happens about 30 - 40% of the time.

We have spent several days trying to track down the issue but we can only every reproduce the crash when adobe connect is connected and sharing the screen.

Does adobe somehow jack into the program in a way that could cause issues? We're really just at a loss as to what's going on.

I want to give kudos to BC. I just got a response to my case on this issue and they've acknowledged it as a bug and have logged it.

Looking forward to the day these great new capabilities move out of beta. These are great improvements!

i've reverted back to the original rendering engine and replaced all new liquid tags with the legacy tags and everything seems to be working fine

guess i learned my lesson, don't use the beta features

not sure what you mean by "need to be posted in the development forum bug thread" as this is the bug forum for BC

thanks for the .tpl tip / .html has been working well but i see why now .tpl is a better practice

the problem i had seemed to be specific with the built in blog module

it was working really well (with the new rendering engine) but as soon as they applied the update today it stopped working

Hey, as a note if you do custom template files use .tpl these will not show as normal pages in sitemaps, admin etc.

BC.Next is something in beta you enable at the moment, I have gone through a few sites with custom template solutions and none of them for me are effected. Your site will not be using the new rendering engine.

IF you have turned on the new rendering engine, then that is not how modules render now, but old modules should still work. If you have enabled it on a live site - you shouldn't as it is not finished yet. If this is a bug it will need to be posted in the development forum bug thread.

Since the BC.Next update (which I'm told is now completed by chat) has effect how parts of my site display.

Previous to the update I was able to render variations of my 'blogpostlist' in various parts of my site with different layouts using template="/.." in the new module tags for my client's blog.

Now these types of modules:

{module_blogpostlist,10583,1 template="/Layouts/Blog/dwm-bloghome.html"}

No longer renders the "dwm-bloghome.html" template. Instead it is using the default blog layout "postlist.html"

I've tried to sort this out with chat but with no success. First I was told to wait for the BC.Next update to complete and check back on the BC Status page to find out it was done. After four hours I asked chat again what the ETA was (since parts of my client's site are messed up because of this.) This time i was told it was complete and they don't post completion times for events since there was no client impact. Of course there is but they don't seem to believe me. When I explained the impact I was then told BC.Next is a beta feature and not supported. Basically, no help.

I'm venting since I'm looking for help on a BC issue that is out of my control but no one at BC seems interested in helping or interested to know that a previously working feature is no longer working.

Are you aware of any issues with the new rendering engine causing problems with custom templates defined in module tags?

Not really Joel,

The new editor is Beta, several things do not work with it, more so then the old editor. I have used the editor in safari and chrome today funny enough for training and it was working for me without any issues.

YES! The old one was failing. I went to the SITE SETTINGS > BETA FEATURES and enabled the new editor and it now works on ALL browsers. The old one didn't work on SAFARI and CHROME, but it did work on FIREFOX. So we are all good. Cheers.

lmages will only appear after publishing or updating the post and sometimes only after doing that and refreshing the who page. I have clients placing the image 4 or 5 times trying to get to work, when it actually is, but just not showing. This is something that is occurring with only a few sites not all editors.

Sorry about the delaying in a response. Another partner told me how to fix the issue. I had to delete the emails and reset them up. That solved the problem. In about 3 months I will find out if it still an issue.

When you double click on a motion tween in flash cc a handy ease editor opens below the layer in the timeline. There's no way to exit out of it. It makes it impossible to continue working on a project. Am I missing something?

I am afraid that while my colleague's assessment might be more reassuring, it is incorrect and it doesn't help you prevent such an occurrence moving forward.

If you look carefully in the information you pasted in this thread you will see that the last update date at your registrar is today and the status is clientHold which according to ICANN means:

clientHold - This status code tells your domain’s registry to not include your domain in the zone file and as a consequence, it will not resolve. It is an uncommon status that is usually enacted during legal disputes, nonpayment, or when your domain is subject to deletion. Often, this status indicates an issue with your domain that needs resolution. If so, you should contact your registrar to resolve the issue. If your domain does not have any issues, but you need it to resolve, you must first contact your registrar and request that they remove this status code. source

My recommendation is to contact the registrar as soon as possible and enquire into the cause that led to them listing this status and also removing your zone from the records, albeit temporarily in this case.

With no modifications brought on the registrar side, it seems this was definitely caused by the maintenance performed, and though downtime was expected(and announced), I cannot yet determine why the impact was this lengthy in your particular case. We'll take action to figure out the cause of this occurrence and make sure future releases are deployed with a lesser degree of impact on our customer pages uptime.

It looks like the reason your site is down is not the maintenance we performed today but a recent change of information at your domain registrar:

It looks like either the DNS record have been changed or your domain name subscription expired. In any case I recommend contacting the domain registrar to sort out this issue.

Hi Gil,

We apologise for the inconvenience caused. We are taking steps to ensure the minimum possible downtime for our customers but in this particular case we cannot completely control the situation as Amazon is performing a major system maintenance as explained in more detail here: Scheduled system maintenance on all data centers - September 26th to October 1st 2014

Publishing from Muse should now work again for at least a couple of hours until the next wave of system restarts.

So no one here will be able to provide full info but your question is a bit broad.

Any new laptop should be able to handle that task but spending money on one to just do that I think is a bit wasteful.

The concept of a pre-made template is that it is style John. That is the thing with those and while you can always tell a site comes from a template, because they differ very little. That is why you have "Frameworks" which are a different concept with lacking style.

A web app is not for style purpose and never conceived to be that. And in terms of templates, they are there to create features of that template theme. As part of that and being a template the layouts will have been done but not only that the CSS to style them to match the template theme as well.

Web apps are 100% not there for "look"

It is management, an extension for custom features based around the premise of the CMS. If you go by your logic page editing, product editing etc would all be "style" features

All the BC documentation etc does state about web apps, sounds like it could be clearer, but any any bigger feature if you downgrade will have issues.

As a note though you now have a new problem. In the system, the site you are working on - the web apps are still there. You just can not access them. View your sitemap.xml - You will notice they will still be there.

You have to get BC to remove the web apps completely for you.

While I agree that styling is CSS, the web apps themselves have been pre-styled, and the web apps are then used to change the "look". I mean they provide an "easy" way to use images or information in a certain pre-made style. Whether the images or information is static or not does not come into it.

I suppose my real gripe is the fact that so many of the templates come with theses web apps, they are useless if a client goes with a lower plan.

I have rewritten the code now to get around the problem and asked BC if they could include a warning, for other or future partners.

Hi there,

This has been covered a lot. You will not encounter SEO issues on this if you do not link to it. SEO report tools, scan a site and look for all things that may cause SEO issues, and they can report that, and an SEO guy could blindly say that is SEO issue, but if you do not tell google about it then they wont link to it.

A 301 redirect would paint over the problem as it were, but the real problem is that your linking to the home page in different ways on your website. You need to go through it and fix that up. That is the real problem, once you have done that, it will take a little time but google will naturally degrade the other links it used to find and this will go away.

SEO issues because I can't setup a 301 redirect for /index.html - any ideas?

Hi,

I've noticed a few of my sites are having an issue where both the /index.html and the / URL's are being seen by Google as 2 versions of my homepage even though they are just the one version.

What I am hoping to do is create a 301 redirect so that e.g. www.abc.com/index.html forwards to www.abc.co.uk however this does not seem possible in BC using the standard URL redirect functionality.

Has anyone experienced this issue? How did you get around it?

Secondly I was wondering if anyone knows if using BC if it is possible to get access to the HT Access file to do this?
