Don't know about cache-control. we'll follow-up on that. For the URL structure, for now it's a known/as designed limitation for which we might have a solution in the near future, but can't say exactly when.

ha ya just figured that out :) thanks for the quick reply though. Is it always going to be like that or is that technically a bug that will be fixed? Also, what about Cache-Control: public, max-age=30 days not showing up?

For modules and content holders support, we don't have a planned date that we can share. We'll keep you updated as we keep improving the engine.

Do you have a link to the site? You also need to have links starting with /img/image.jpg. We do not support links like: http://domain/img/image.jpg or ../img/image.jpg

I see that now, if I test my site with PageSpeed Insights there is still a warning for some of the images in the menu (module) and for site search (module). When do you plan to have the feature enabled also for modules and content holders?

Cristinel, it doesn't appear to be working right now. Enabling it worked fine the other day but on a new site I enabled it on it's not working. Also, for the site it is working on if you looked at the headers for assets it still says Cache-Control:max-age=0 NOT as stated on the blog Cache-Control: public, max-age=30 days.

Enabling static assets has an immediate impact. However, for now, the feature comes with some limitations as it only supports assets included in pages and page templates directly. It does not support assets in content holders and modules.

No payment gateway integration should be affected as our servers are able to negotiate and successfully connect using TLS 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2.

On Thursday, October 30, we have pushed live an update on our BC.Next beta version. The update includes a series of liquid improvements (support for include tag, additional global variables, one more module translated to liquid), support for browser caching, ability to disable system scripts and styles for better control over the generated content and a method to consume APIs in front-end by using a new module named module_data.

Hi all,

We’ve been getting many reports over the last few days regarding the POODLE vulnerability and SSLv3 support. As you may be aware, an Internet-wide security issue, commonly referred to as POODLE, has been identified in the last two weeks - it creates a vulnerability that could allow hackers to gain access to any connection using an outdated Web browser.

Business Catalyst is not vulnerable to the POODLE vulnerability. We have disabled SSLv3 on all our servers as soon as the vulnerability news has been released. As a result of this, customers using older versions of browsers (i.e. IE 6.0) might not be able to access their sites properly.

Furthermore, we’ve been getting questions regarding our Authorize.net integration after they announced they will disable SSLv3 connections (http://community.developer.authorize.net/t5/The-Authorize-Net-Developer-Blog/Important-POO DLE-Information-Updated/ba-p/48163).

We’d like to confirm that our Authorize.net integration won’t be affected by their change.

Two things i wished you would have fixed:

1. If updating a product's attribute variations through the API, the attributes tag won't render on the shop. I need to do an additional update of the attribute without variations before it shows up - or go into the admin and edit an attribute and hit save before the tag renders. I have reported this, but the support ignored the request to file it as a bug.

2. ReleaseDate and ExpiryDate seems to exist on everything except Product_UpdateInsert in the Ecommerce API, maybe add it in V3 at least.

Oh, and I'm not sure about using CDN by default for apps scripts, i keep getting frequent timeout and slow load times - no matter if i use my USA VPN, EU VPN or China VPN.

Scheduled system maintenance on EU data center - October 26th, 2014

To ensure the highest levels of performance and reliability, we've scheduled a database server upgrade on our EU data center. To minimize the customer impact, the upgrade is scheduled at the most convenient hours and will take up to 6 hours to complete. During the maintenance procedure, creating and updating content, Partner registration, trial site creation, publish from Muse, sFTP, APIs and some site admin sections will not be available. Additionally, all sites on the EU data center will experience a 20 minutes downtime sometimes during the maintenance window. Except for the scheduled 20 minutes downtime, the website front-ends will not be impacted by the maintenance.

Maintenance schedule:

Start date and time: Sunday, October 26th, 9:00 AM UTC (check data center times)
Duration: We are targeting a 6 hours maintenance window

Customer impact:

Partner registration, Trial site creation Muse Publish, APIs, FTP and some admin section will not be available through the entire maintenance window on all data centers
All websites and services on EU data center will experience a 20 minutes downtime sometimes within the maintenance window
Creating or updating content on sites located on EU data center will be unavailable during the maintenance procedure

Was it also part of this update to have the login time out to be shorter? Pretty much in normal working time on a site today and yesterday the Double alert that your about to expire is popping up really quickly, along with that your also logged out in a lot shorter time now.

On Tuesday, September 23'rd, we have updated the Business Catalyst service to include a series of security updates and minor bug fixes. Please find below the detailed list of changes:

Require users to confirm identity by re-entering their admin passwords when updating sensitive information like payment gateways, user accounts, user roles or current user details. This has become a standard security practice that reduces risks on admin changes made by unauthorised users. Along with the change, the sensitive information can only be edited over https.
Disabled auto-completion on password and password confirm fields in web forms. While this will prevent auto-completion to work for these fields on most browsers, some browsers do not enforce this standard and will still have this enabled.
We have removed SPF from DNS since it's now deprecated and replaced with TXT fields
Updated Captcha to include additional security measures preventing DOS attacks
Added support for all alpha TLD domains to enable users to create email accounts on domains like .marketing, .photography, etc
Fixed a bug in Product_UpdateInsert API to correctly escape quotation marks in product name
Fixed a typo on Remove admin user success message

I opened the html and inserted this:

Clicked update, then saved it. The html box is clicked on.

When I sent a test email, just the code shows up and not the image. What am I doing wrong???

Make sure that you enable the HTML signature and then click on the HTML editor to insert the html for the image, http://prntscr.com/3yccs3 and then click on update.

@ LorayneMcG, log into webmail > Settings > Identities > [Select your account]. On this layout, there will be a textbox available to insert your signature as HTML. Also ensure you enable the 'HTML signature' checkbox.

I am still unable to attach PDF documents within the new webmail system. As of this morning we are still getting the message "Upload Failed" when try to attach a document.

I was able to get a 92KB PDF to attach, but when I tried to attach a 4 MB size file, it continues to say "Upload Failed"

I see that BC Status website has been updated to reflect this issue, so I will continue to watch for updates there.

I am afraid that there is no way to roll back to the older UI.

Regarding the slowness in the new UI we have reported that issue to our email provider and as per them they are working to roll out a release in a couple of hours that should take care of it.

Is there a way I can go back to the original WebMail version?

This new one sucks pretty good. Constantly having trouble opening emails, responding to emails, deleting emails, downloading from emails, and just about every time I attempt to do one of those things, it tells me it has lost communication with the server. OH and trying to search past emails using the new search tool is a joke. It always tells me it came back with no results when I am clearly retyping the exact name of the recipient.

Some of my clients are report they are unable to attach PDF files with this new Webmail system that went live today. When they try to Attach/Upload a file they are getting a message "File upload failed". I have verified this is the case. I reported the problem within the email system several weeks ago while in the Preview Mode. It looks like the issue was never fixed. Are others having the same problem?

I see from a post by Liam Dilley that you have "Changed the Terms and Conditions for using the SFTP upload system. All of my development sites are on catalyst and I cannot do any updates to 7 July-September releases. Where is the secret "Sign Up" for the new Terms and Conditions of Service hidden?

As per usual this SHOULD have been much publicized BEFORE it was instituted I have 3 VERY unhappy clients who need to do site reviews and PageSpeed tests but I cannot upload three sets of optimized images for their July-September Quarter mobile sites.

The new webmail platform has a brand new look and feel and it is is packed with new features. To have a closer look at the changes, a preview mode of the new platform is already available to all email users. You just need to select the Preview mode in the webmail login screen.

That would be a feature request and not a fix.

There is no _nolink for that, only on images and the name(list view)

For a datasource tag you have {tag_item} {tag_item_id} for a data source.

Availible tags from your web app will all list in the toolbox in the admin.

The email recovery address refers to the cms users of the site and not for the CRM users. The tel link tracking was did not practially exist / worked in BC and we removed to not create confusion until we'll have a solution on how to track these.

Known issues and limitations

This release includes the following known limitations:

Updating recovery email address - in an effort to increase security and audit trails on the systems, users are no longer allowed to change passwords or recovery email addresses for other users; a regular admin user can always change his recovery email address by accessing My Details section under the admin user interface; for email users, the recovery email address can be changed by our support team.
Admin interface updated URL and page structure - to increase admin interface performance and loading times, we have updated the page and URL structure of an admin page. The changes include:
- Admin user interface V2 has been removed completely
- Admin URLs now start with /Admin and we've dropped the hash convention from the URL; old admin v3 URLs will be redirected to the new pages to preserve backwards compatibility (ex: /AdminConsole/#!/Admin/AdminPage.aspx will be redirected to /Admin/AdminPage.aspx)
- The iFrame used to display main admin content has been removed
- The custom menu items (config.json) are still loaded using hash URLs
- Open Admin (beta) applications URLs are loaded at /Admin/AppLoader.aspx?client_id={{CLIENTID}}

Hi,

You can do this now, here's an example:

Use <meta content="{tag_productmetadescription}" name="description" /> in the Individual Product - Large layout for products

and <meta content="{tag_description}" name="description" /> in the Overall Layout.

When accessing the detail view (individual product - large) of any product from a specific catalogue, you'll see the respective product's description, while when accessing the catalogue view, where all products are displayed with the individual product - small layout, the catalogue description will be used.

Sorry to dredge up old topics but I couldn't seem to find the best answer. Before individual product meta, you were not able to have both catalogue and product with unique meta data as it would end up doubling up meta descriptions. Are you able to have a unique title and description for both catalogue and title using this method? If so, what steps do you need to take to achieve this? I've added the specific tags to my large product view, but how am I able to display different meta description content on my catalog page?
