If you're a Windows user, you can build and publish your folios using InDesign and DPS tools.

The main question is how do users see your folios file to see? Is there another app that adobe brings out? I am very confused. How do you submit your folios to be viewed by others?

If I follow step one, then the e-mail they get will contain a URL to take them to my DPS publisher.

I have the Creative Cloud, but I thought custom viewer app is for MAC?

To let other people see your folio, you have two choices:

(1) Share the folio.

(2) Publish a custom viewer app. You can do this if you have a Creative Cloud membership or if you purchase a Single Edition license.

Only Professional or Enterprise publishers can publish folios as public. Publishing folios as public allows them to appear in the library of a custom viewer app. If you're not a Pro/Ent subscriber, there is no reason to publish as public.

If you want to make a folio available to known individuals, you can use the Share feature. But if you're looking for a way to make a folio available to the general public without creating a custom viewer app, you're not going to be able to do that at this time.

It sounds like you're trying to publish an empty folio, which you can't do.

Anyone you share with needs to have a verified Adobe ID.

I do all of my work on Windows but I also have a MacBook for the occasions when I need to build or submit an app. You don't need anything high end but it does have to be Intel and I believe Snow Leopard !0.6.8 is the minimum requirement for DPS App Builder

Check with Apple on the minimum specs for the Application Loader.

If you want to sell your folios for money you have to submit a custom app to the app store that you make using DPS App Builder. That application has to be built and submitted on a Mac. You can't use a PC.

If all you want to do is put some folios on your device to show it to friends, potential clients, etc. use the Adobe Content Viewer. As Bob mentions you can also share folios to others for review purposes and they can also just use the Adobe Content Viewer. But you can't sell using that method.

Just share them through the folio builder. Choose share from the flyout menu.

They have to have an Adobe ID and the Adobe Content Viewer on their iPad.

I am kind of confused. The tutorial says you need a mac to submit to the app store. But you said you did not have to. If you’re a PC user then how do you submit to the app store?

The same way you do on a Mac. You use folio builder panel, make your folio and upload it, then go to digitalpublishing.acrobat.com and publish it.

The only thing you need a Mac for is to build the application you submit to Apple. If you are building a single edition application then this means you need a Mac to publish, because there is no separation between the folio and the app you submit.

For multi-issue applications you only need a Mac to make the shell application that apple gets. The content can be entirely produced and published on a pc.

You need a Mac to submit your app to Apple. That's a requirement imposed by Apple.

You don't need a Mac to design, preview, or publish folio files. I do it on my pc all the time.
