Diving in and trying things out is great, and there are lots of free tutorials available. But sometimes you get stuck and frustrated. My favorite learning resource hands down is lynda.com http://www.lynda.com/.

Illustrator lets you draw, but wow does it let you draw. Here is a nice sample of what you can do http://veerle.duoh.com/design/article/interlocking_rings_wallpaper_design (ok it uses Photoshop too but you have access to that too - and it is not just for touching up photos). And here is an Adobe showcase of more things you can do with Illustrator http://www.adobe.com/products/illustrator/showcase.html.

InDesign lets you work with text (and images). Do you have a physical newspaper or magazine nearby. That is what you can do with InDesign. Here is an Adobe showcase of what you can do with InDesign http://www.adobe.com/products/indesign/showcase.html.

I've always seen both ...never purchased either but now with cloud access I have both. Can someone tell me what the diff is in a nutshell??
