or is there a way to get the you tube menu to show up? you know the one at the bottom that would normally have the little CC

the menu shows up in the desktop viewer but not on the ipad?

ok. I found this on you tube site:

Make captions automatically appear for an embedded video by adding "&cc_load_policy=1" to the video's embed code.

You can also choose a caption language for the embedded video. To specify the caption language for the video that you'd like to embed, just add "&cc_lang_pref=fr&cc_load_policy=1" to the video's embed code.

"cc_lang_pref" sets the language for the captions shown in the video.
"cc_load_policy=1" turns captions on by default.
"fr" represents the language code for French. You can look up 2-letter language codes in the ISO 639-1 standard.

So the code in my HTML looks like this:

Size issue resolved. However the cc option is set to auto but no subtitles appear?

ok, now it shows. thanks.

However it does not fit to the frame and you tube CC is not working? Also what if you want it to go full screen automatically?

Here’s how I do it and it works.

Go to Youtube and find the video. Click on share and the get the embed code.

Copy it and then head back to InDesign and paste it. A frame will appear on your document. Right click and choose edit HTML. Add the http: to the code.

With it still selected go the folio overlays panel and web content should already be selected. Set the options appropriately.

no it will not play. It shows up but taping it does nothing?

If I put the full code:

Overlay fails.

So Im assuming that I am putting the rigt code in: "http://www.youtube.com/embed/L4KMnT9JCeg?rel=0"

Having the same problem here. Inserting the following code into the web content overlay frame:

if i just put the following in the web content frame it loads a preview but red button will not play.

You are doing it correct. Just make sure you set the Web Content controls to Auto Play (I also do Transparent Background & Allow User Interaction), then when it opens up in the Content Viewer using the Preview button, the video will come in like this below. Hope that helps.

HI Bob - I am using the code <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/IE_FK298Icg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> but when I publish I just get the following notice where the video should be. I have opened with IE10 and then tried acrobat X and then just viewing the PDF but they all give me the same result. Am I doing something wrong in the publishing process?

Is this still true? I can't seem to get a YouTube or a Vimeo video to embed anymore using CC and v31 tools. I have tried adding the "http:" to the Url and that doesn't work using either method: Inserting HTML, or by placing the code directly on the page and then editing the HTML with a right-click. I either get "invalid code for a Web Content overlay," or a warning box about needing a Flash player or different browser from YouTube. Neither will play at all on the Desktop viewer or the iPad. Here is an example of embed code that doesn't work.

Please help!

It looks like Google changed the code using the right-click technique as well. The key is to add the "http:" prefix to the URL. When you copy the embed code, Google now uses this code, which doesn't work in an overlay:

src="//www.youtube.com/embed/xxxx"

You need to add the http: prefix to change it to this:

src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xxxx"

I had the same problem after a update. Seems the code for YouTube might have changed or something within InDesign changed.

Here is the code you need to hopefully make it work (works for me everytime):

You will need to get the string of numbers & letters's that youtube gives in the share code like: Z452rs9qHuc. I put where you need to put it in bold. (This is what YouTube give now that does not work<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Z452rs9qHuc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> (you need to take the info like what I highlighted in bold) & put in the code that I provided.

When you do the embbed, you might need to go back over the video, & bring up the embbed HTML box again & hit enter to make it work once you have put everything in if a blank box comes up. That is what I have had to do for the past few months.

I just tested using both the code I gave & what YouTube give now & only my code would work.

I am trying to embed a youtube video in indesign to be published using DPS into an app on the ipad...

I was previously able to do this in indesign CS6 then upgraded to CC and now it no longer displays correctly. I have since gone back and reinstalled CS6 but now that doesn't work either...

I have tried on both CC and CS6 to embed the code using the "insert html" function and also right clicking the video to get that copy embed code and paste directly...neither works :/
