Makling is not possible directly from edge like it was in Flash for special shapes. However you can use a png file for be your mask. You could cute the tree image with a circle. Use the image as a mask and do your animation in the layer under.

It is possible to maak with the clip took but it will be square or rectangle shapes.

You can also play with overflow.
