I stopped using Norton years ago. I found it created lots of issues. Vendors that design and build turnkey edit systems have warned me away as well. I use Microsoft Security Tools. Its free and very "light weight".

I've tried several AV utilities and I've always returned to ESET Smart Security (NOD 32).

I'm using it for about 15 years -it's effective and the most lightweight for the PC.

I thought almost all of the ISPs were giving away virus protection just to avoid the hassles of irritated customers.

I certainly like it!

As for Norton, I am not seeing any problems with it. Never have. Then again, my PC and my Internet connection are both fairly robust.

Nothing free from my ISP... we also use NIS as a password manager (login to NIS once, and it fills in logins on sites we visit) and I have even used the NIS startup manager to "trim" my Win7 startup list

I don't find NIS to be slow... YMMV and all that

Ditto no Norton for me, it interferes with everything, makes pc slow.

Switched to Norman; ditch that one too (same issue).

Now on Panda and Malwarebyte. Both for free.

Everything is running smooth.

Personally I avoid Norton, I have had too many problems with PC's and laptops with it installed.

I have used Kasperski for the last three years with no problem, I have also found it best not to take the web download price as fixed.

Ring them up and haggle, I got three years subscription for the price of two on a license that covers 5 items.

My Comcast Cable gives away Norton for free.

AT&T U-Verse gives away McAfee. I believe that Verizon FiOS charges for protection.

Check to make sure that you don't get it free before you go out and pay for it.

Different people use different products, I use Norton Internet Security

In the past, I have always bought a box to get a new version... this year I decided to download

Price at Norton is $40 (1 owner 3 computer) I found it for $28 at a company called antivirussales

Antivirussales also has many other brands... seems to be download only, but I did not really look for box products

Just FYI in case someone is looking for a good place to buy an antivirus program
