Yes, it may work without it, but it's always prudent to put things back to where they were before running updates. I'm glad it worked for you, but given that the uninstaller ignores the auto analyzer with the space in it and leaves it behind, I still think it's better to let it update, then turn it back off.

Not for me (Windows 7).

I did not change anything for the renamed exe.

As the update seemed to be ineffective in the editor help menu, I started the update from the organizer. Once the update process started, I closed the editor and organizer, which I thought would speed up the process. Everything went well. The new ElementsAutoAnalyzer was updated in the the 'Roaming' subfolder. The old renamed one, was still there. No sign of the process visible in the task manager. Closed Elements, still no background process. Restarted the computer and the organizer : no background process...

I could not replicate the version set problem since the workaround; same since the update.

Sugarplum,

What version of PrE are you using, and on which OS version?
What is the GPU (video card/chip) on your HP computer?
Do you have the latest video driver installed for that GPU and your OS version?
What are the details of your Video Clips, such as their Frame Size, FPS, and format/CODEC (Compression)?
What are the Project Settings?
