more in detail: after file error 1 I deleted the menu in encore - back to finder I duplicated the psd menu file and renamed in "filename_org.psd "(backup for safety) then in PS I "flattened" the text layers into graphics (as described above) and afterwards brought this flattened file back into Encore...

(I wish my English would be better :-) )

Thanks for the tip. Makes me wonder if there is a font issue in some instances of this error?

i had error 1 by trying to create a start button. as you can see i rendered the "text layers" into "graphic layers" and the problem was gone...

try to render all text items in PS first -> this was my solution

Will never be fixed... CS6 is done

Thank you so much for your feedback.

Based on your input, and the other discussions in the links you provided, it looks like CS6 does the same problem with Mavericks (I'm using CS5).

And hence, my only real option is to downgrade my system software (OS) - because according to user BSPV, the problem resolved when they went back to the old system.

So how exactly do you 'create a small partition on my drive just for the old OS X'?

Or is there a way to properly contact Adobe and alert them to the problem, and fix it?

Known issue with Mavericks.

Few have reported back that it was fixed, But the fix at the link below seems to fix some problems.

Re the Photoshop -1 issue, the workaround was not to left-click on the menu. Use right click, or other options and menu commands.

But I don't see a workaround for a menu render, unless you try to build.

Hi, I am having serious problems with Adobe Encore at the moment, and really need help fast.

I am currently making a DVD project where:

I have used Photoshop to create the buttons (It's just the two buttons/options created in groups with the text and their highlights. There is no background).
Once that was done, I created a spearate animation in After Effects that allowed images to change from one to the next.
I exported this as an MPEG so that it could be inserted as a background video in Encore.

So I went back to Encore, inserted the buttons and my background video, created the motion properties so that the video would play behind the buttons (and I did the same for audio). Then I went to preview it, and clicked 'render' and it wouldn't! It just pops up 'Photoshop File Error-1'.

I read that other people have the same problem and have tried editing the psd with the buttons, but still nothing has helped!!!

Can someone please help me??

I would really appreciate it. Thank You

By the way, I am using MAC OS X Version 10.9.2 (Mavericks), if that matters.
