Yea, a lot of the time. the folk here on the forum know more about what's going on than the chat folks. Always good to run it by here also.

Yes. It appears that what I was told by Adobe support during my "chat" session was wrong. I don't know why the people on these "chat" sessions just tell folks they don't know if they don't know and I guess it is better to contact technical support rather than talk to folks on these "chat" lines.

I apologize for my earlier post where I said that CC 2014 had all of the CC functionality. I posted what I was told by Adobe, but it was wrong.

There are some major changes. Flash has been removed, so if you have any extensions, custom xmp panels, and anything that needs Flash, it will not work with 2014. The oil paint filter has also been removed, so id you use that a lot, you might want to hang onto 14.2 for access to that. There are some new features, but I don't know how much they rely on newer computer hardware, but it's always best to check to make sure everything works.

Thanks, but I guess that begs some questions:

1) Why would CC 2014 not work? Is there something new and cutting edge in 2014 that makes it's functionality questionable on some systems?

2) Does CC 2014 have all of the functionality of the old CC version? Or would I lose something if I uninstall the old CC version?

3) Since I am running this on a Mac there is no "OS's program uninstall" and I am dependent upon either Adobe's uninstall or manual uninstall. Does CC 2014 use the same Application settings as CC? If so I cannot remove those settings without affecting how CC 2014 works. If not, I can.

Why did Adobe go to the trouble to leave both on a system after the install rather than remove the old version? Or not give me the option of having the install remove the old version? Is there some reason to leave both versions on the system? It seems strange to me.

UPDATE:

I just "chatted" with Adobe support and was told that CC 2014 has all of the functionality in CC and there is no need to keep both. The support guy never did tell me why they installed two different versions rather than just updating the existing one but he did say that I could remove CC and not lose any functionality so I will do so.

Just in case anyone wanted to know.

Once you are sure 2014 works on your system, you can remove PS CC by using your OS's program uninstall.

I have received the new Photoshop CC 2014 but the installation did not remove Photoshop CC so I now have two 1 GB+ programs and have no idea why they are both there. Hence a question.

Is Photoshop CC 2014 a super-set of the Photoshop CC functionality? Or is there some Photoshop CC functionality not in the 2014 version? Is there any reason to keep both versions? If not, why did the install not remove the CC version when it installed the CC 2014 version?

I have only a limited amount of SSD space on my MacBook Pro and don't want to throw away more than a GB of space for no reason. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
