Many, many thanks. You nailed it! I had indeed forgotten to add the baggage file. I just added it as a file as it is in the root directory of the project and the button magically appears and works. Hopefully that's one mistake I won't make again...

Hi there

Typically, when the button fails to appear it means that the CHM file is unable to locate the link. Particularly, linking to a PDF is troublesome in a CHM file. Not the link itself, but the ability to open the PDF. But if this has worked in the past for you, you likely have been fine.

Did you add the PDF as a baggage file to the CHM? If not, perhaps that's the issue. And if you have, WHERE did you add it? If it's in a folder, you will need to specify the folder name as part of the path.

Worst case scenario would be that you need to just create a topic that would be used to open the PDF. Then link the topic to the button.

I have been working on a new project in RoboHelp 10 which has a .CHM output file. In the Window Properties dialog for the output I have selected to add a button (Button 1) to the toolbar which is linked to a pdf document. (We have done this many times before in earlier versions.) For some reason I cannot get Button 1 to appear at all. I have tried creating another window and using that instead, and even recreating the project with just a single topic, but to no avail. Other changes I make to the window (size, other features) work fine so I am definitely using the correct default settings to generate the project. If I use Button 2 then I see the button but can't find the pdf, even though I have put it in the root file of the project as normal. Has anyone else had this problem, and do you know of a solution?
