I just spent 4 hours trying to solve this problem and see it was Spotify??!! I amhappy to have found this but seriously frustrated. Thank you everyone.

This sounds like the same issue discussed in this thread: Can't select or deselect in Fireworks CS6 (Mac version)

Try turning off Spotify and seeing if that fixes it.

Same issues. Also tried a full reinstall. Haven't been able to fix this yet, and curious if anyone else has.

I am using Adobe Fireworks CS6 downloaded from Adobe CC and last week my pointer and subselection tool stopped working. In addition, my text tool doesn't work. It seems like in order to get something selected I need to click on the layer and then drag it, which isn't helpful and doesn't allow me to select more than one layer that way. I have uninstalled, reinstalled and went through the steps to restore my preferences. Plus, I have done all the updates.

Is anyone else having this issue and does someone know how to fix the issue.
