Looks like the size limitation in PSMix that stopped me opening my LRMobile photos (6016 x 4000) has been fixed in the latest release (v1.31).

Really pleased to get this - thanks for listening and responding!

Hi Min - yes, I use a Pentax K-3 which produces images 6016 x 4000 (24,064,000).

We currently support up to 24M pixel at file open. We are working on bumping up the limit. Stay tuned.

I Had the same error message. The problem seems to have been corrected by shooting a smaller JPEG file. Shooting a 2880 x 1920 file (about 5.5 mb) I can work in Photoshop Mix.

using iPad air iOS 8.0.2

I read another post that said the max file size is 20mb. Large DSLR photos are too big. I didn't try a medium size photo, but medium on my Mark 5 III is under 10 mb and should work as well. Anyway, regardless of format, it seems the app won't handle anything over 20 mb.

I suppose it is possible that the iPad 3 could be the source of the issue.

Still interested to find out why some images will load from LRM > PSMix and not others.

Checking with the team to see if the iPad 3 could be causing the grief.

One solution we could attempt is if you direct messaged me your login credentials, I could log into PSMix and your LR accounts and try selecting images on my iPad 4. (device comparison testing)

If you'd like to try that with me, shoot me a message, and I'll get at it.

Will send you a message back when I have finished testing, so that you can change your password if you'd like.

I've just uninstalled / reinstalled both LR Mobile and PS Mix but that has not fixed the problem.

It has just occurred to me - could the problem be due to me using an iPad 3? I noticed that PS Mix gives a warning that it is optimised for iPad 4 or newer, but I can't see how that could be the reason that some photos open but others don't.

I save RAW DNG (from a Pentax K-3) to LR Desktop. I'm not sure that's important though - doesn't LR use JPG when syncing to LR Mobile?

i haven't yet uninstalled / reinstalled the apps yet - I'll do that next.

Thanks for the added info about your workflow. I did try this on my setup ... LRDesktop > LRM (LR Mobile) > PSMix -- The images opened just fine for me.

What types of images are you working with? JPG? Tiff? RAW (Which camera?)...

Have you tried uninstalling either app and reinstalling them to your iPad? I'd give that a try and see if it resolves this for you.

Sorry it's not working for you initially!

We'll get to the bottom of it.

Hi Pete - thanks for getting back.

My workflow- which seems to be the most natural to me - is:

- create collections in LR desktop with some photos

- enable syncing with LR mobile (right click -> Sync with Lightroom mobile)

- go to LR mobile on iPad and check / adjust photos (over wifi)

- open PS Mix, navigate to the LR Mobile collection and image I want to work on (using "+" -> "Lightroom" -> select collection -> select image

- this is when I get the error message "The image cannot be opened".

I have restarted the IPad but the problem is persists.

I have investigated further and found the following:

1. One or two images do open in PS Mix, but I can see no logical reason why these do when the majority do not.

2. If I open an image in LR mobile and then use the icon in the top right corner (the share / open icon?), select "Open in..." and find "Open in Photoshop Mix", then PS Mix launches with the image successfully.

So, it CAN work, but you have to follow a very specific order which is not described anywhere and is not the most logical.

Why does PS Mix have the option to open LR mobile images directly if that doesn't work?

The combination of LR desktop, LR mobile, PS Mix and PS desktop could be immensely powerful and very handy for a productive workflow if only they could be tweaked slightly to work together better.

(Talking of workflow, are you able to help with Lightroom Mobile - editing metadata? - this is such an obvious purpose for LR Mobile that I cannot understand why Adobe didn't do it in v1.)

Hi Richardm,

Are you having trouble with all images in the Lightroom synced catalog?

I just tried opening LR catalog images in PS Mix successfully, but the images were synced from iPad to LRMobile rather than from Desktop to LRMobile than to PSMix.

Is the iPad connected via wifi?

Tried restarting the iPad and trying again?

Well, I have to say I am *completely* underwhelmed by the complete lack of interest / support that Adobe provides for its products.

I have only recently started using Adobe products in earnest (Lightroom / Lightroom Mobile / Photoshop Mix) and I am beginning to wish I had chosen alternatives.

Are Adobe really not interested in issues that your customers have with your own products?

I have Photoshop Mix v1.1 and Lightroom Mobile v1.1.0 on my iPad 3 with iOS 7.1.2.

I have made 6 collections in Lightroom 5.6 (CC) (on Windows 7) available to Lightroom Mobile and I can edit these successfully in LR Mobile on my iPad.

So why does Photoshop Mix report "The image cannot be opened" when I select one of the photos in a collection when I select:

"+" -> "Lightroom" -> Collection of interest -> Image of interest.
