Recall Freehand? The Freehand community went as far as setting up a "Free Freehand" organization, and took legal action.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;They failed. Adobe did not release Freehand's source code into the public domain.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;And it will never happen with Fireworks either, because it would become too much of a competitor to Photoshop and Illustrator (and any other software they might have under wraps for now).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Sad, but true.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyEnd:13391b3e-4694-4b81-bda2-61e508d0f394] --&gt;&lt;img src='/beacon?t=1415940886544' /&gt;</description>

Please don't take this valuable software away from us and let it degrade into a worthless mess. We still have uses for your other titles and would be happy to stay if Fireworks remains alive in one form or another, even if it no longer bears the Adobe name. It won't affect your bottom line to give it to the community, but letting it die will definitely sow negative seeds among the Fireworks faithful, so that if a viable alternative comes into play an exodus may ensue. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyEnd:eeb19868-f5ec-4ac3-b8d7-216d403c4714] --&gt;</description>
