I just got a new iPad and loaded Adobe Draw and Adobe Line - beautiful, thoughtfully designed apps. Except that they are totally useless as they don't save Illustrator-editable vector artwork - as you would absolutely expect they would. I'm baffled why Adobe would fatally cripple such potentially useful apps.

Absolutely. Having spent over 20 years using computers for film and animation, for me a useful piece of software is one that has as many import and export options as possible - that makes it versatile and means it gets used a lot. As soon as you limit the file formats it excludes itself from many workflows - and gets used less often.

It's incredible to experiment so many difficulties for so simple actions, I'd like to use more Ideas or Draw but there are so many vector app like Inkpad, Idraw, concepts or paintbook all exporting simply vector format through svg or pdf and email or dropbox. Adobe try to force us to use their cloud and don't want to know that we sometimes need other ways…

Thanks for trying to help. Unfortunately as my copy of Illustrator isn't CC I don't get that option. So it's jpeg and png only unless I use Adobe Ideas.

From Illustrator draw when you're in a drawing, use the send icon and choose send to illustrator, it will directly come in Illustrator on your desktop.

How do you get them from Illustrator Draw into Illustrator? The only options I see are for jpg or png. Thanks for any help!

Update: I suspect it's not working for me because I have Illustrator CS5.1 and not CC. If that's the case I think it's quite a restrictive idea. As an artist unleashing your creativity you might want to use a whole range of tools and apps available to you - not just be locked into those Adobe offer. Looks like I'll have to stick with Ideas app for now.

Yes this is the answer I got from the team, this way works well to get simple line works, otherwise, if using many brushes and colors you don't get a vector shape similar to your Line artwork.

You can although try the new app Illustrator draw and get a real vector drawing in Illustrator, this new app has layers, this is Ideas with the new rulers, but you get your strokes as vector forms and not strokes in Illustrator.

**UPDATE** I have found it YAY!

In AI go to OBJECT>SKETCH and LINE ART>EXPAND TO PATHS

Unfortunately it seems to revert all strokes to a simple brush. It does not keep any of the texture, opacity or hand drawn quality...

Yes, I am having the same issue! It clearly says in the app update that "illustrator cc 2014 now lets you expand to paths". Has anyone managed to get this working? Whats going on Adobe?

Downloaded today the new Adobe draw which replace now adobe Ideas, rulers are are implemented, this is a good thing and you can export vector files to Illustrator. But strokes are exported as vector forms (like it was in Ideas) so you can't easily move your strokes in Illustrator or adjust their size. We have then tons of app by adobe I understand your marketing thinking to make us use your cloud, but it's now difficult for me to choose between those app, what is the interest of Line between Sketch and Illustrator draw ? And two others app to make shapes and brushes, and one other for colors and and and…………this is a cloudy cloud !

Updated today Illustrator CC & Line, when I send my file from Line to Illustrator I only get a bitmap picture in Illustrator. What's up please, hey guys where are the vector shapes ??? I can't understand what you're doing with those app, there are a lot of app much more easier to use than yours !!! Look at Concep'ts for example, we can can compare it to Line but they offer layers, shapes can be easily moved and file can be send to illustrator and opened in a vector format. It's a shame that this can not be possible with your own app !!!! Sorry but I'm totally disappointed…
