The Force Module Sequence button causes Captivate to set code in the main imsmanifest.xml file of the package that is supposed to force the LMS to only allow the learner to select and view the modules in the order listed. So the LMS is supposed to see this code and prevent the learner from using the TOC to jump to module 2 or 3 untill AFTER completing module 1. The learner must start at the top of the TOC list of links and work their way down. If this property is not set, the learner could theoretically click any link on the TOC and do the modules in any order.

That should be a function of your LMS. Once the individual lessons (modules, whatever) are uploaded to your LMS, the LMS should allow you to order those as you want.

In all cases I've seen, the multi-SCO Packager just bundles SCOs into one to make it easier to upload. Once in the LMS, it sees there's more than one SCO...so then you set those up per course/lesson, as you probably would do if you uploaded them individually...

How important is clicking the Force Module Sequence button - will the packager or imsmanifest.xml file follow the order in which I loaded the SCOs without checking it? Sequencing is not something my LMS handles. I have 2 project files: content and test. I'd hate to have the test appear before content.

All it does is build a combined imsmanifest.xml file that the LMS can read to find out how many separate modules there are in the course and then create its own TOC links to point to the HTM file to launch those modules.

Rod, does the Multi-SCO Packager take both project files and make them separate entries in the LMS or one single entry in the LMS?

Yes the Multi-SCO Packager is part of Captivate 7 or 8.

You'll need to divide your course up into multiple project files and specify each different SCO using the Manifest dialog.

You need to set each up as a different SCO, bundle them all together using the Multi-SCORM Packager, and then your LMS will create the needed links to launch each part.
