It's just a bundle with the app bit set (I think). Does a control-click do it? Sorry, I don't have a Mac handy, but if you google "open Mac bundle" then I think you should find something. Perhaps if you select it in the Finder then choose "show package contents" from the menu

Sean, how do I open the PKG file without kicking off the Installer? I can't see any of the files or folders. Can you advise? Thanks

It's not that Shockwave isn't supported so much as Adobe's installer doesn't support 10.10. If you are brave you can follow this procedure from another user:

I dug into the PKG file and dragged DirectorShockwave.plugin into /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/, and it worked.

or wait for Adobe to fix their issue

I downloaded Shockwave Player 12.1 but when I go to install it it asks "How do you want to install this software?" and it gives me the option of selecting my Mac drive but then gives me an error that says "Adobe Shockwave Player 12.1 can't be installed on this disk. Adobe Shockwave not supported on this OS version." But when I downloaded from the Adobe website I selected Mac OS X and the Shockwave 12.1.3.153 full version for OSX 10.6 and above. I have OS X Yosemite Version 10.10
