I have tried to do the MPEG-2 for the separate audio and video, and it had the same effect. I haven't done that with the multiplexing set to none (I don't believe) Can you tell me how I could do that?

I did try yesterday to play one of the many DVDs I tried on my station managers DVD Player and it was still low.

Another engineer told me I might have changed or hit something in encore to change the levels and I kept trying to explain to them that Encore doesn't let you edit or alter the video or audio.

If you can tell me how I set the multiplex thing, I will try it and get back to you Thanks so much!!

Also, I was wondering if maybe something happens to my audio during the transcoding process? Do you think that's possible or probably not?

Thanks again y'all for your help, I really appreciate it! Until I get this figured out I'm taking a break from making DVDs that way. My engineers wanted me to do it through encore so we can get away from burning them through the blackmagic card...

From looking at your call tag, you may be a station engineer and used to setting audio a certain way for broadcast. I don't claim to have any experience in that area, but have authored countless DVDs over the years and always keep audio levels in Premiere peaking at -6dB and have never had any audio issues with the final DVDs, and many others echo that sentiment on the forums.

Forgetting about DVDs for a moment, just editing in Premiere, if my audio is at the levels you mentioned, that it way too low on my scale and is usually closer to the -6 straight from the camera. I want to see a decent-looking waveform on the timeline myself.

When you export using the MPEG-2 DVD NTSC settings, are you getting a .wav audio file for use in Encore? Make sure that "Multiplexing" is set to NONE (default).

In the odd event that you are not getting a decent audio export when exporting at the same time as the video, it is certainly ok to do an audio-only export and then mate that up to the video clip in the Encore timeline. I'll sometimes find an editing error in my audio while in Encore and will simply go back to Premiere, do a quick fix, and export a new .wav file to replace bad audio in Encore.

Is it possible that the DVD player itself has a volume control? Can you test on another DVD player in a different environment, like your living room? Just to rule out any weird hardware issue.

There is simply no reason I can think of that Encore would cause the audio to go quieter - there is nothing in there to alter the audio levels, so I'm thinking to look elsewhere for a cause.

Hey Stan, thanks for the response. I've never used the forum before so I wasn't sure how it worked

In premiere it shows it fluctuating between 20 and 18 decibels which is where I like my audio to be. The Source (correct me if I am wrong, just learning how to use Encore) is NTSC video straight from studio to AJA KI PRO with ProRes settings once I import it into PP.

That's what is so stressful to me is that it sounds perfectly fine in Premiere, sounds great as its on single .mov file, and sounds great when I did the DVD preview before I burn. Every time I burn though it sounds so low.

When I playback from Premiere my volume control is set at 2 and it sounds great, once I have the DVD playing I have to crank it and set it at 7 just for the same sound level it was at 2.

What does the audio meter in Premiere show for the audio strength?

The DVD should not be so much lower in volume simply because of the Encore build.

Someone help me before I go crazy. I have spent two full work days making and throwing away so many DVD's trying to fix this problem

What I am trying to do (nothing crazy!):

Make a DVD with a TV program that is 1:23:40.

I made a basic blank menu with a text button linked to the program timeline.

I preview everything, and it all looks and sounds great. **

My problem:

Once I burn my DVD I put it in the DVD Player and my audio is EXTREMELY low.

What I have Tried:

It took me a couple of times to get everything sounding great in the preview portion in Encore. At first I would export my project in premiere to encoder and encoded it using the DVD settings for NTSC, then I tried to do it with my original ProRes settings, but with those the audio was super low in the preview too.

So today I just simply exported my project from premiere straight to my desktop as .mov and Imported that into encore as a timeline. That is when the preview sounded perfect audio wise. However, once I burned the DVD I still ran into the same exact problem of SUPER LOW audio.

I tried the support by adobe but apparently they no longer offer that for Encore. These forums are my only option the guy said. Shame on Adobe for discontinuing their support for Encore

If anyone has had this issue and can help me I would GREATLY appreciate it.
