The Captivate people just came back saying they are aware of the issue and are working to deliver a fix:

"Thanks for reporting this issue. we are working on this and will try to come-up with a solution as soon as possible.

The issue that we are dealing with is: "In responsive project, Image objects/Image buttons/Image fill in smart shapes will not get populated with desired image in HTML5 rum-time when the object exists in quiz slides that resides in a question pool"

The issue is related to loading of images present in question pool's quiz slides.

Regards

Shriyansh

Adobe Engineering Team"

The funny thing is before the update I published all the software and the same quiz works perfectly. Here is a screenshot of the same chapter which has been onlu=ine for over a month now:

Same CPTX file. I just republished it and now all the buttons have disappeared. To answer the last question. I did not delete any buttons.

How did you change the Submit button? Normally that button is embedded in the quiz slides, you'll not see it separately on the timeline. It uses the style defined in the Object Style Manager for the Quiz buttons and on the dedicated master slide you 'll be able to move the buttons to the wanted location. It is just an intuition, but did you perhaps delete objects that are embedded in the quiz slides? That can cause a lot of problems. Try never to delete objects, but you can uncheck the options to have some buttons disappear. All embedded objects have priority in the stacking order, they'll appear above any custom objects that you add.

Now I am back to the old problem my image quiz button have again disappeared and when answered even the text captions are all screwed up here are the screen shots the blue is because i clicked and held down the mouse to select the whole screen. The buttons are there just not visible.

If you click on submit this is what you get

with a cation with no BG.

Can you check the Advanced Interaction panel (F9)? It lists all the candidates for scoring: questions, D&D, interactive objects. Even when you tell Captivate that some scores do not have to be added to the total score, some quizzing system variables will still count those interactions/questions. That is the case for the total number of 'questions' as it appears in the Progress indicator: cpQuizInfoTotalQuestionsPerProject. My workaround is to create a custom progress indicator: Customized Progress Indicator - Captivate blog

That said all the hotspots have been excluded from the quiz but for some reason it still shows as question 2.

Anyone have the same problem and or a fix
