You should also be using styles for everything and mapping those styles to tags.

Thank you, Bob. I suspected it to be so. I was thinking the easiest ways would be to add a div tag and set the background to it in the html. I will advise our layout artists.

The HTML export was never intended to do this. You’ll need to do it manually by adding the background image in the CSS.

That would be great. I am exploring changing the page master to a 3 times

long the original size and having a new image for the background.

Not sure how to do that. May be using the Page Tool to fit the content of the three pages in one? Just a crazy idea. Hopefully we'll hear from others here more familiar with HTML.

Hum. I am not sure this will answer my problem since I am not sure how to insert a background that has a top and a botton and will cover 3 pages in InDesign but would need to be continuous in html since the html will be a long page - if that makes sense.

I am asking the question for our layout artists.

Here is the problem.

We have certain text that is above an images. Since it covers several pages, the first page has the top of the image, the next pages the middle and the last page the bottom.

example:

We have to convert our books to html.

What would be the best way to handle this since the resulting html is "one long page"? It seems that we should have only one image for the background but how could we do that in inDesign so we do not have to do this manually after export?
