Did you perhaps select a different language without noticing? There are keyboard shortcuts that do this.

I use Windows 8 and it work a couple of days ago. The problem is not the settings in windows, I checked those, it's only in illustrator I can't make it?

Have you opened the "Glyph" panel (Window>Type>Glyphs)? You should be able to access it there.

Don't know what platform you're on. Have you checked your keyboard and language settings? On Mac it would be in Keyboard preferences. On Mac you could also check the "Keyboard Viewer" to see the available characters and how to access them with modifier keys. It'll also show what keyboard is being mapped, at the top of the viewers.

I can't suddenly use the @ sign with any font in illustrator CS6 (I use a usb keyboard on my laptop) why can't I make the sign?
