There have been a few reasons to embed 100%, but the reasons are generally related to odd fonts used in form fields (best to stick to the Adobe default fonts) or for editing, that is generally not a good idea for PDFs. I use embed all as subsets. I embed all for those who may be using a viewer other than an Adobe product and might not interpret the fonts correctly (I have seen this in GhostView).

I think this was a good idea whose time has passed, because font subsetting is now almost universal. It used to cause more problems, especially in document assembly where you could end up with hundreds of separate subsets.

Hey...

when i do an export from document to pdf-file, i embed all the used fonts. there is a margin value - automatically setted to 100 %.

i know, when i use 100 % only used characters got embedded as subassemblies.When i use 0 % the whole font type with all coded characters is embedded.

my question is: why should people embed fonts less than 100 %? Like for example 40 %. Because the effect is the same, isn't it?

Also the file size between embedding all characters or embedding just subassemblies is not so much different that i can see the advantage of embed only the characters that are used in my document. For me this does not make sense. I hope anybody can help me with these questions.
