Thank you very much, but it apparently isn't that recent a copy of Publisher. I may have to find another way.

IF your copy of Publisher is recent, it's an option in Save As. Check the Help.

Use the built in MS plugin, if there is one. You can try a 30 day trial of Acrobat XI. There are also several 3rd party products just for the conversion, but it is not appropriate to list them here.
