If you have the textfield set to "Static Text", then the text space will extend vertically to contain the text that you type into it. You can adjust the width, and the height will change to fit the text that is contained.

If you change the textfield to "Input" or "Dynamic" then you will be able to size the textfield as you like.

I'm new to Flash I was able to create text box and adjust width and height, but now can only adjust the width. The height box is unusable. Did I turn something off? I'm using horizontal mode.
