There is one more situation, when access to the original image is necessary:

Think, you place an image and scale it to – lets say – 30 % of its original size. When you preview or save the site, Muse will optimize your image to this size.

When you later decide to upscale this image again, Muse needs access to the original image to load and build a bigger version of the picture.

Okay, excellent. Thank you for the prompt reply! I just didn't understand completely the whole missing/relinkin asset part of it, however it sounds like that if I am not editing the original file, then relinking isn't necessary.

WHy always relinking? Muse stores the images in web optimized size within the .muse file. You don't need to relink, if you haven't modified the original file. Even, if you ftp your site and the original files are missing, relinking isn't necessary.

I use my pc desktop as my primary location for Muse, however when I travel I use a pc laptop. My files are stored within Creative Cloud (and backed up elsewhere). Each time I am away and using my laptop, Muse wants me to relink all of the assets because it says they are missing (sometimes in large numbers, 100+). Why do I have to relink when the files are accessed from the same location? Also, do I really have to relink when the assets aren't changing or being replaced? I am simply adding on to the website, not changing file locations.

Is it required to relink these "missing" assets to make updates to my Muse site and publish? I don't want to find out the hard way and have my site completely messed up if I choose not to spend a lot of time re linking a couple hundred assets.

Thanks for any help or insight on why this happens.

p.s. I have tried using a portable hard drive and using that between the two machines, however, it does the same thing.
