Hi, I have a black and white photo from a friend that I'm trying to repair using PSE7. I have done quite a bit of repairing, but there is a section where some kids are under some sort of haze and I can't seem to be able to do anything with it. Help!! Attached is acopy of the photo Thank you

Uninstall PSE, run the scripts, then reinstall. It's not a bad idea to create a new admin user account for the install.

One other thing, if you have formatted your drive to be case sensitive (not just the default OS X formatting) you can't install any adobe product.

If you've had trial software on there, you will need to download and run Cleanscript before Elements will accept your PSE serial number. Since I don't know which version of DW you had, start with this one:

But if it's DW CS4, you'll probably also need this one:

Note that the CS3 script will remove all adobe products, so if you have anything with activation, deactivate it before running.

Oh sorry. It's a Mac Book. I just threw away a bunch of Adobe stuff

and am doing a Secure Empty of the trash. There are 17,000 items to go.

I also made the mistake of downloading the sample of DreamWeaver to

test out but I shouldn't have done that until I got the PhotoShop

Elements 6 solved first.

I may have to reinstall all the system software again. The Edomites

keep attacking my Mac so that keeps me busy.

You aren't giving us very much information to help us make suggestions: windows or mac? What happens when you say it "won't work'? Is there an error message? What does it say?

Do you get a message that "licensing has stopped working"?

Thanks for your help. I am now trying to reload the disk they sent me

and this time I will try the other serial number listed on the web

page. If that won't work my only way to do it will be to buy a whole

new program.

It would have been much preferable to start your own thread, Skip, since this has nothing at all to do with anything else in the thread, but are you talking about the mac or windows version? Did you double check in your adobe store account to be sure you've got the correct serial number? What happens when you say it "won't work'? Is there an error message? What does it say?

I downloaded PE6 and had to initialize my hard drive, so I ordered a disk from Adobe. However my serial number won't work with the disk and when I download a new program from Adobe, it won't work with that either. I spent 2.5 hours on the phone trying to get help from customer service but nobody there could help either. Thanks for any help you can give.

I changed feather value to 2 instead of original 50 and lasso worked.

Wow, how did you even find this thread? I thought it would have been archived off long ago. The exchange is long gone at this point.

Anyway, first check to be sure that you're working on a layer that has pixels in it, as opposed to an adjustment layer or something. Do you have a large feather value? If so, reduce it (select>feather). Also, how large is your selection? Make sure you're actually selecting an area that is large enough to allow for the selection of entire pixels.

Dear Barbara,

Hope you can help.

The problem is: when I try to use MAGNETIC LASSO (Adobe Element 7) by click magnetic lasso tool and drag the cursor around the same subject on end of the area pop-up the note" Warning:no pixels are more then 50% selection edges will be no visible". By clicking OK the line gone.

I try used on the WIDTH 10, 20,30, 100, 200px., but result was same.

What I do wrong? and how fix it?

I follow any suggestion in literature and nobody mention about above problem.

Don't get me wrong--in terms of bang for the buck, RW definitely leads the pack. It's just that I keep bumping into the walls. :)

Yeah, thanks, I have. It's a cool tool for some uses, but I wouldn't want to do a complex site in it. It's great for things like putting a gallery on the web, but it's pretty head-banging to set up things like a downloads page.

I wish there were something that combined the strong points of RW and Freeway. Maybe someday soon. There are rumors of an iweb pro, which is an interesting idea.

Well, maybe not, but that's because it's totally up to you what the design is. It's not a template shop. Design is limited by the design abilities of the user.

I suppose it is a bit more complicated getting started than basic RW, but it is much easier in that you just do what you want, the way you would in a page layout program. If I want a bulleted list, I type a bulleted list and Freeway does the CSS, as opposed to DW where I have to put in all < ul > code and set the CSS formatting myself in the custom CSS pane. If I want an image HERE, I drop a psd file or whatever where I want it and that's where it appears, and I can specify what kind of image for the output. If it only had RW's easy implementation of php/rss I'd stick to Fwy entirely. But that's where RW shines, IMHO.

FWY 4 pro also has a number of great, time-saving graphics editing features, like the ability to add a spatter frame, adjust hue/sat, do complex fades, gradients, etc. right in the program.

Yes, that's definitely where Freeway leads. I was very surprised at how fast RW takes you into code land if you don't want to just use a template design as is without any particular formatting. Freeway never makes you write custom CSS: it does it all for you. If you don't need templates or a built-in blog, FWY, is much less techy than RW. You just download various actions that do it all for you, kind of like PS or like Quark Extensions.

Hi, Tom. Yes, you're totally right that table-based layout is not a good thing these days. I'm not talking about layout tables, but the little tables that display the size, creator, cost, etc. That is something different. (there are also other ways to do those, but not in RW, not without a heap of extra coding, anyway).

Sorry, but blocks doesn't allow flexible css layout--it enforces a fixed page size, but gives me no layout features I don't have access to in styled text, really.

PHP, javascript or something similar is essential for dynamic pages, where people can download/upload files, enter info on conctact forms, etc. and for anything with an RSS feed. The only reason I chose RW over freeway is because it's easier to implement this using it. For truly versatile layout and valid clean code, Freeway is still leader of the pack, but it doesn't mesh easily with PHP.

I don't know enough about php to know why you need to use it.

I am also not a web geek but it seems;
That tables are not recommended these days.
However there is the RW HTML page to paste in tables.

I would not like to try what you are doing using styled text pages only.

I think you should reconsider Blocks.
With the page block feature, you can embed a page like a contact form, for example, inside another blocks page.

I think you should continue to get answers from the very knowledgeable people on the RW forum.
There is also the blocks forum.

If you didn't notice, the next Blocks update will include the ability to make a page template.

No, blocks to me are a nightmare. I bought blocks but I'm very disappointed in it. For true WYSIWYG, Freeway still reigns, as far as I"m concerned.

I'm also not able to use the download/file sharing pages since they don't allow either images or tables. I'm just using a styled text page saved as php, but there is something in the way RW encodes all pages that prevents some third-party php scripts from working. The mint pepper I use to track the number of downloads should be able to display that right on the page next to the item, but the only way it works is if I wait till the page is uploaded to the server and add the text there. That's not practical because it means I'd have to redo every single item every time I add a new one, so I've had to give up on that till I redo the site in pure php.

Well, it has never occurred to me to make brush sets etc.

I have not used the download/file sharing pages of RW.

Would using page blocks from the Blocks plugin be useful?

Hi, Tom. Not doing this to sell things, just to give back a little. If I ever get my video tutorials encoded correctly, I'll post links to those, though.

RW is not that satisfactory for this, to tell you the truth. Too many problems with pasting php code. If the site gets popular, I'll redo it in Expression Engine or Wordpress.

So, when will you have something to post there? :)

For those who don't know, I've started an Exchange just for Elements stuff. For now it's running as a subdomain on my own site, but if people like it, I'll move it over to its own domain. Not much there yet, but Jodi Frye has created some really great frames for PE 5, and Obsidian Dawn has some nice brushes for PE 2 and up:

If anyone wants to include something there, feel free. If you want to drive traffic to your own site, you can just include a link on the exchange page. LInks to commercial products are fine, as long as you specifiy that and include the cost.
