A quick correction. I misread the website.

PSE 4 did remove the standard Curves interface and Richard will be including
curves presets with the PSE 4 book tools. But, the Booster curves tool is
separate from the book tools and appears to be a plugin to provide editable
curves capability. I don't know if this will create a non-editable after
creation curve like the one in PSE 3 or a totally re-editable curve like the
CurveMeister plugin. Perhaps Richard can confirm this (editable/reeditable
curves) if he stops by the forum.

Sorry for the confusion.
Then use PSE4 for everyday tasks and PSE3 for the hopefully few special tasks that can only be done in 3. Personally I think there are by far more pros than cons in 4.
Adobe's business practices

I was thinking of upgrading to 4.0. I have Richard's package for 3.0, and I think you guys have just convinced me NOT to upgrade!
Why would Adobe do a dumb thing like that? Do they think all us amateurs are going to pop for CS? NOT!!!

According to Richard's web site, it's just curves presets -- i.e. predefined
curve adjustments. You no longer have the ability to make an arbitrary curve
since the user interface has been removed from PSE 4.

I'm sure Richard has selected a good range of practical presets. For many,
that will be enough. But, the whole point of using curves for me was the
fine control you had and that is now gone.
