Thank you so much. That solved the entire problem. Pse 8 will now read the mRaw and sRaw files from both the 7D and the 60D.

I guess I assumed that the raw engine installed by Lightroom 3 would also be used by pse 8. Wrong assumption. Thanks again.

Go to the adobe website and type in the search box canon raw file and see what happens!!

I can open the SRAW1 and SRAW2 although my images are from a 5DmkII and not the models you mention. In theory if Lightroom can read them, PSE8 should also, as they both use the same raw engine ACR 6.2 which also supports the 60D.

You may need to update your ACR plug-in.

To find out what version you have open the PSE editor and click Help >> About Plug-in >> Camera Raw

You may still have version 5.5.0.97 in which case download and install the update.

Canon Raw files in PSE 8

I have been checking out the Canon 7D and 60D at the local camera store since I have been thinking about buying one of them. The 7D is a year old and the 60D is brand new. I took pictures in RAW, mRAW and sRAW and tried to work with them using both pse 8 and lightroom 3. PSE will not do anything with the mRAW and sRAW files, but lightroom 3 has no problem with any of the 3 formats.

So that raises a question for me. They are all Adobe products. I assumed they would all use the same raw processing software to load the images, but pse 8 will not open the files and lightroom 3 will. I have tried to update pse, but it tells me that it is up to date. Does pse just not process the smaller raw files? Has anyone had any success with mRaw, sRaw or sRaw 1 and sRaw 2 (from the Canon 50D)?
