The Vobulator is a Sonic module (Adobe licenses the Sonic Authorcore for both PrE and Encore), that does the layout of the Project to the DVD specs..It sounds like that module is encountering a problem, in the layout of the DVD authoring part of the Project.

Similar can happen, when a Stop Marker, or Scene Marker is placed at the end of a Timeline, but there can be other problems, that cause similar.

Can you post a screen-cap of your Timeline, showing the Markers?

So after speaking to Adobe Tech Support here's what they got me to do.........

On the start menu type %appdata% and go to the Roaming folder. In the Adobe/Premiere Elements and Premiere Elements 9 folder I was told to delete the folders called 9.0

After that The menue worked, yay! But not completely. I only use the menu if I don't have scenes. If I put in ANY menu markers the burning process stops at 5%.

Burning to folder crashes at 28% and I get the following error message....

internal software error: .\Vobulator\BlockPlanner\BlockPlanner.cpp, line 215

Hi there,

Got some help from Adobe and we got it working, for a while.

They got me to.....

A: clean the media cache in Elements

B: Change all scratch disks to read to My Documents

C: Opern organizer and uncheck everything in Media Analysis (from the bottom up)

D: Click on the start button, enter %temp% and delete everything in that folder.

After that I just tried adding the theme to a 20 second clip and it worked! Was well chuffed, lol. Hung up the phone, opened my main project........didn't work. So I tried a new project again with just a 20 second clip and I'm back to square one again with it not working. I've tried repeating the steps I went through on the phone but to no avail. Will phone again tomorrow.

The News Reel template in the Movie Genre theme works fine in PRE10 on my system.

You could download and install the PRE10 trial (plus Content) and see if that works. If not then we'll know it is your system and not PRE.

Alternatively you could download just the PRE10 content and overwrite the PRE9 template files with those from PRE10. Of course there's no guarantee the PRE10 templates will be usable by PRE9. But, as you have spent over a month on your project, it's worth trying.

Also, try to use Share/Computer/AVI to output a DV-AVI. Does the output complete?

If the burning fails at 5%, I would look closely at your Timeline at approximately the 10% * point in the total Duration. What are the Assets at that approximate point?

Do you have any gaps in the Video at about that point?

What are your Audio Assets there - MP3?

Do you get any error messages, and if so, what exactly do they say?

Does your computer reboot, or does PrE just hang, or crash?

* PrE uses a 2-pass Transcode, so that when it shows 50%, it has made the first pass of the Timeline. At 100%, it will have completed both passes of two.

Still the same problem.

Uninstalled, redownloaded and installed Elements 9, updated it and the DVD Theme News Reel crashes at 5% burning to a DVD.

Do you think Adobe will be able to help me with this? Does anyone with Elements 9 mind trying to burn a quick video file with that theme to see if it works?

If it's a reinstall on the same machine there is no need to deactivate or suspend. Deactivation sort of 'releases' the install so that you can install it to a different machine.

Suspend I don't recall - but I suspect it is a temporary deactivation so you can install the application on a second machine that you're going to work with. I think the licence allows you to install to two machines but cannot be used simultaneously.

Burning to folder stops at 2%. I can't figure out why it would only be with this one theme. I'm going to try re-download/installing Premiere and it's extra content. You never know. For deactivating before I uninstall Elements do you know if I should choose "Suspend Activation" or Deactivate Perminately?"

It sounds as though you're using the correct settings for this video format. I'm not sure why you're having the problems your'e describing.

When you use Share/To Disc and select the option to burn your DVD to a Folder, does it work?

It's a standard definition camera and ought to be perfect for PRE - which rather suggests a problem with the Theme itself. Probably best for you to contact Adobe Tech support and see what they say.

It's a sony dcr sr32. The Video format I'm using is PAL Widescreen AVI 25fps. I'm not sure what other info I can give you about the video format I'm using.

Thanks for replying.

The video is from an Standard Def Somy hdd cam. The video is then just transfered to my hdd and then I import it in to Premiere. When I started the project I chose PAL-Hard disk-Flash memory-Camcorders-Widescreen 48 Khz.

The are photos (Interestingly I was having major memory issues until I read a post of your ages ago about photo sizes, lol) they are now a more appropriate resolution for Premiere.

I'm not sure photos would be an issue though now as I exported my movie as an AVI to the hdd. In a new Premiere file I imported this AVI and I can burn it to DVD on it's own or with any DVD Theme except the one I want (News Reel in Movie Genre).

Can you tell us more about your source video? What model of camcorder is it coming from and how did you get it into your computer?

Are there photos in your project? If so, did you ensure that they are no larger than 1000x750 pixels in size?

When you started your Premiere Elements project, which settings did you select?

Hi there,

I'm having trouble getting a video I've spent the past month putting together on a DVD.

When I click burn to dvd it's encodes the media, menus, etc but when it gets to burning disc it just hangs on 5%.

At first I thought it must me the files that make up my video so the first thing I tried was to export it as an AVI and import that in to a new Premiere file. I then proceeded to add the theme and burn to disc. Same thing.

I then tried just burning the movie, no theme. It worked fine. I have since tried other themes and they work fine. This is on my Laptop (i5 2.3ghz, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd, Windows 7 64bit).

I thought I'd give it a go on my PC (amd 6 core processor, 4 gb ram, 500gb hdd, Windows 7 64 bit) so I installed Elements, created a new scene and added a random video and the particular theme I want to use.

Same thing, burning process crashes at 5%.

Now, I know it may sound silly but the reason I upgraded to Prem 9 was because this particular theme worked great with what I was making.

I'd really like to get this sorted. The theme is News Reel in Movie Genre. If it's impossible for this to work, how should I go about this with Adobe? Can I make my own themes for Elements?
