Why doesn't Adobe have 3d modeling program?

It seems silly to me why I have to use other programs like Blender to design complex 3d models to import into Adobe Director? Adobe is the most well known and established software companies ever, and they can't make a simple program to design complex 3d models? Am I missing something?

Put os 8.1 on my phone - and will on my ipad mini

In xcode 6.1 I went into preferences - Locations and specified command line tools

I removed CFBundleResource Specs from info.plist

I went back to oxygene for compiler.

BuildMachineOSBuild refers to the machine you are working on - so I am using Mac Yosemite so number is 14A389 - see wikipedia for Yosemite number

DTPlatformBuild - refers to the platform you are building for 12B411 for ios 8.1

DTPlatform Version then is 8.1

DTSDKBuild is also 12B411

DTSDKName is iphoneos 8.1

DTXcode refers to version of xcode 0610

DTXCode Build (see wikipedia for xcode6.x) but for 6.1 is 6A1052d

I am upgrading my previous director movies and get an error "This Director movie was created with a much earlier version of Director. It cannot be updated".

I am using Director 12 and I think the .dir and .cst files were used pre Director 8.5. I know I should open them in 8.5 and convert and then maybe have to do this again in v12? But I do not have version 8.5. Does Adobe or can anyone offer the service of updating previous versions of my director movies? Any suggestions?

I'm using the following script to enable the swipe gestures on iOS...

Can anybody tell me what's up with the "Missing Shockwave Decompression XTRA" error all my old .dcr files? Nothing has changed about the files in 10+ years. Is it related to the newer versions of the Shockwave? Is there really a full version of Shockwave that has this XTRA in it, as I've read?

If so, is there a way to prompt the browser to download the full version instead of the default shockwave version?

How to add 'Publisher' info in Projector (.exe) file?

The title says all about what I want to know. As you are aware that, Windows showing a security warning (as Unverified and Unknown Publisher) when we run a Projector (.exe) file. I just wanted to put something instead of showing Unknown Publisher.

I am aware that, I need to buy some certificate (digital signature) to become a Verified Publisher, but at this moment I just wanted to put something as Publisher information. Do you guys did the something before, or have any idea?

I have a program that plays a sequence of MP4 videos (loads one after another if unattended). The projector runs great on Mac and on Windows XP/Vista. On Win 7 the projector stops working after 30-60 minutes.

I set up a trace log, but no errors are surfaced.

Any help is appreciated.

In Windows XP I am using a trial version of Adobe Director to try to extract .cct music files from the free game Quantum Legacy and eventually convert them to mp3s, but the files are "protected and cannot be opened"

I read this link and I made the .exe with the two scripts but it's not working.

I have flash asset xtra in my xtras folder next to the projector. Yet, when clicked on the projector, I get this error.

I am using D11.5. Is the Flash asset xtra corrupted? Do I need some other xtra?

The one I have in my Xtras folder is dated 3/15/2009.

I am not runing this on a browser. This is a stand alone projector (standard). I am running the projector a PC with Windows 7.

The projector however was created on a different PC and seems to wok fine on that machine.

Help extracting artwork from .dcr using dirOpener - ANYONE?

I've been using the dirOpener program to extract the artwork from a .dcr, but I keep getting this message:

this application requires an xtra flash movie... that either does not exist

I've installed shockwave 8.5 and 11 full (not slim) with all the Extras shown here:

and it's not working. Maybe custom Extras were used, but I doubt. I think I just don't have the Extras that were used at the time of the creation of the .dcr.

I also made sure to get all the .cct files. I organized them all relatively to the .dcr file properly. DirOpener as a result seems to collect them correctly. But then I got hit with the above bold message. Is there an Xtra called "Flash Movie..." ?? There is none that I can find. There is "Flash Asset" but that's not the same.

i have a big problem with my director app.

I create for a game(dots and boxes) 300 objects by using a parent skript. Each generated Sprite takes his own channel. But director offers only 150 channels so i can only add 150 Sprites.

Does anybody have an idea to increas the maximum channel count.

I'm really starting to regret Upgrading to Director 11. I didn't have any of these issues going from MX to MX 2004. All I'm trying to do is make a simple projector work on a Mac and it's one issue after another. Not to mention all this after updating a whole boat load of Xtras 11 requires.
The new one is this;

Unable to load movie playlist. Does the INI file exsist? It must contain a section '(Movies)' with an entry 'Movies01=pathname.dir'.

I've already read a couple of other forum post with the same error message going on with others but can't find certain files required to make the fix like the 'Projec32.skl',
and I don't know how to read, let alone make an .INI file.

I'll mention I got this error after updating to Shockwave 11 EVEN though I was not publishing a Shockwave movie.
I know I just need to include a certain file on my CD when I burn one because all works great on the desk top, but I'm throwing darts trying to figure out what the CD burn is missing.

So to make a long story short does anyone know what I might be missing?
I'm new to making director movies for the Mac, and even using a Mac so I might need it spelled out a little more for being a novice.

im using Director for 3D projects but now i have a client who want to create some multimedia kiosks.

Is the first time i'm creating projector to play videos, and im having very big problems playing videos on the stage ..

The videos im playing are in 1920x1080 ( fullHd ), and i have a lot of troubles with performance.

Is there a way to improve video quality and smoothness performance ?

Director 12, trial.

Old .dcr (guessing from between 2000 and 2005)

Its greyed out in the open file-window.

Is it not possible to open files with the trial version? Something else wrong maybe?

Edit: Renamed it .dir. Not greyed out anymore, but when trying to open it: Cant open file. Its protected. Is it possible to unprotect the file?

I am trying to open an existing Director file created elsewhere on an earlier version (not sure if it was Windows or not) my Mac and I get a Director Player Error - This application requires an Xtra (Windows Media) that either does not exist or failed to initialize properly. Please make sure the appropriate Xtras are in the Xtras folder(s).

I have adobe director 11.5 and Macromedia MX 2004 versions installed in my machine. The projector created from the MX 2004 version used to work properly even after the 11.5 upgrade. I recently got the error "Application cannot start because it cannot create needed files. Not enough disk space", whenever I run the projector. Has anyone come across this issue before?

What software is best to use to create an interactive CD?

I'm creating an interactive cd rom. I have made several interactive CDs already using a really basic bit of software called Autoplay Menu Builder (made by a company called Linasoft) but it has several limitations.

Basically it needs to be an easy to navigate menu with thumbnails of images that users can click on to open and print however many images they like (one at a time). The images will be pdfs as I will distribute a copy of Adobe Reader on the CD (yes I do have a license to do so!)

The main problem I am having with my current software is that each menu program I create can only handle opening 10 or so pdfs and so I need to have lots of menus linking to one another in order to be able to open all of the pdf files on the cd (usually several hundred files). Each menu program is an .exe file with autorun feature. Each .exe file is named 'autorun.exe' by default and I cant change the name without encountering problems. Therefore the CD ends up containing 100s of .exe files with exactly the same name and users are having problems with their virus checker software thinking that the CD contains a trojan virus.

So I need to come up with a new way of making these CDs.

Things I need my interactive CD project to do...

* Autorun from disc without prompt from the user

* Run from disc only - I don't want the user to have to install anything or need an Internet connection to use the CD

* Not to have issues with the most commonly used anti virus software (I know this might be an impossible task)

* Have a customisable interface and buttons etc.

* Enable the user to quickly and easily open and print 100s of pdfs one at a time

* It needs to work on older home computers - and if possible to work on both mac and pc platforms

I would rather not have it open in an Internet browser window - but would go for this option if I could remove/disable the navigation bar and give it some kind of skin (so that users don't think that they have to be online to use the CD - I know that sounds daft but it's quite important to the project I am trying to create).

After reading around the forums I think that Director seems the logical way to go but thought it was worth asking for any advice on the matter before diving in at the deep end - I'm not familiar with Director or Flash... but always willing to learn something new!

I made a projector with Director 11.5 in Windows XP, it plays very well in XP but get Projector encounter error in Windows Vista and 7. I embedded all the dir files in the projector because another error encounter when the dir files are protected. This gives an error that says "unable to save the movie because it has a second user with write perssion using the movie" this I know is false because I am the only one playing the movie.

Anyone with the idea of why a projector created in Windows XP will encounter error in Windows Vista and 7? Also anyone knows why protected dir files now dxr file will be assuming a second user is the dxr file when there is no second user on.

Can anyone tell me if there are xtras needed to be added to a projector made in XP in order for it play in Windows Vista and windows 7?

opening protected .dcr files

I've been supplied with source files from a new client that need alteration. However, when attempting to open the .dcr files, the following message appears:

"File is protected adn cannot be opened"

From what I can gather, the files in question (Director 8.5) were saved in such a way that there is no way to open them. I've tried dirOpener, but it fails to even see the files.

Are there any options for opening or importing them into Director 11.5 short of re-creating them? The projector files are available.

I have been searching for a solution to a project I am working on. I am
working on a touchscreen kiosk application that will be displayed in a
Public Aquarium. This kiosk will display fish, etc. related to a
particular reef. There is a simulated rock formation and the included
fish built around the kiosk touchscreen. The plan is that when the touch
a button, the display will play a video with voice-over (simple) but
also switch on a spotlight pointed to that specific fish being
highlighted. There are 12 total in this exhibit. After searching for
hours for a solution (it seemed simple back in the 80's/90's with basic
serial device switches..) where I can turn on/off the lights via a
computer interface (more-over a custom script able to run from within
Director).

The closest I found is the X10 system w/USB device but not sure how will
can control via lingo/javascript.

Thank you for your time and consideration - I greatly appreciate any
advise/support you can provide (as well as any other solutions that
might address the above.

alert() not displaying dialog box in mac/windows projectors

while alert() works fine inside Director 12, in published movies on both mac and pc, I hear a system beep, but get no dialog box displayed.

I've searched and searched for a solution and come up empty. Most I've found was this discussion Re: alert() not working where the OP's problem just seemed to magically disappear.

Unfortunately my problem has continued through several reboots for a few days now. I'm using Director 12 on OS X 10.6.8, publishing to both Mac and PC.

I have an application that uses CTX files created from MX 2004. Newer versions won;t work and the developer fo tha application has no plans on upgrading the application to make it compatible with newer versions of Director.

I have searched in vain to find someplace to purchase of copy of MX2004.

Ten years is old for software but not ancient; I find it strange that in this day and age there's nothing available.

Does anyone have an idea of where I might be able to locate this?

Hello,

I've just update DIr12 with the HotFix4 (now the version is 12.0.9r149); before the update, I use 12.0.4.

Since the update , my iOS app leave randomly.

I tried to take the exact same file that worked in the old version, I published and I see the same error. But if I use an old version it works :-(

My iPad is version iOS7 .

How can I do to get back to the version before the " HotFix4 " or better to eliminate this problem ?

It feels a little lonely when developing in Director . It's a shame , because I started using Director when he was still called VideoWorks ...

Hi guys,

we try to develop an iOS-app and detect some mysterious things with 3D objects! Hope somebody can explain?!

Usually sprites in higher-numbered channels appear in front of sprites in lower‑numbered channels. Sole exception "DirectToStage"!

But 3D objects in D12 on Mac OS X 10.8.5 and 10.9.4 are alway in front! Same effect on iPad Air (iOS7)!

Very funny: On Mac OS X 10.7.5 everything works correct!

Any ideas?

Urgent Help - memory leak problems with iOS publishing

Hello Director community,

I am trying to finish my first iPad app made with Director 12. (hotfix 4)

But my problem is that it will only run for about 8 minutes until it closes unexpectedly.

(It’s taken me many months, just to get it to this length, before it bombs out!)

In the Xcode console I get this message <Warning>: Received memory warning.

I believe I have tried every trick in the book to get this working.

Like: unloadMovie,unloadCast etc.. But nothing works.

Does anybody know a way to control a memory leak with Director’s iOS publishing?

It is nothing to do with my code - (in fact I can show memory leak example with next to no code being used!)

I now have many pages of Director iOS bugs and how to work around them - but I can’t get pass the major memory leak problem.

Here’s a quick memory leak example:

memory leak problem 7# (problems with ‘play movie’ - ‘go movie’ - ‘goToNetMovie”)

When publishing the movie_one example, don’t forget ‘Add Dependent Files’ - ‘movie_two.dir’ in the Publish Settings!!!

Publish Setting > Files tab >

tick - Copy linked and dependent files - add ‘movie_two.dir’

Publish to iOS projector.

When you play the ‘movie_one’ on a 16g iPad 4 - you’ll only be able to jump back and forth between movies around 6 times before it bombs out - with a Xcode console memory warning!

member text with line numbers

Hello:

Do you know how to write or add the line number inside a member text?

I have some different word documents and I have to add the line number. I was trying with member("mytext").text.line, but when is a paragraph does not count, only detect RETURN between lines.

Can you help me or guide me?

Sound, but no video when streaming a quicktime file through shockwave

When I stream a quicktime movie in the html file hosted on localhost using the Apache server, I get sound but no video. I saved the quicktime movie as part of my cast, linked to http://localhost/~username/mymovie.mov

When I play the quicktime movie itself in my browser, or in a projector, or just within director, the video and sound play simultaneously. But in the browser after converting the dir movie to a dcr and html file, and hosting the dcr and html files on the server, when I open the html file in my browser, only the sound plays. Anyone else encounter similar problems? Any help would be appreciated!

Error: Could not inspect the application package

When trying to drag and drop an .ipa onto an iPad in Xcode 5.0.2's "Organizer - Devices" pane (or by clicking on the +/'Add sign in the same pane) I keep getting a "Could not inspect the application package." error.

Does anyone know how to eliminate/deal with this kind of 'pane' (pun intended, sorry)

I'm trying to find some answers to a few questions regarding the use of graphics in Director for a game designed for an ipad, but am having problems finding clear answers on. The last question in particular has been dificult to find a difinitive answer on.

1. Does it matter what graphic files are used ie .PNG, Pict, jpeg is there any preference, adavantage or disadvantage of each file type. Can using different file types on the same stage cause problems?

2. Do apps made for ipad only - also have to be compatable with the new iphone 5 widescreen format.

3. Do ipad apps now have to be 2048 x 1536 pixels or can it still be 1024 x 768 pixels.

Where are the release notes for Director 12 Hotfix 2?

I really hate to be the guy that complains about stuff, but is it that hard for Adobe to provide some basic things like release notes for a patch to a product that costs $999?

The release notes on the support page are still from 11.0 Hotfix 3!!!

Do I have to be part of a secret beta tester program to get access to such basic information?
