Flash CS6, QuickTime: The export operation failed because it ran out of memory.

Exporting a QuickTime movie file seems to be an old issue with previous versions too. In CS6 I always get the error message: "The export operation failed because it ran out of memory." I've got tons of memory and have allocated increasing amounts to the cache with no success.

My small and fairly simple file was created with Flash CS5 which seemed to work fine at the time of creation. I've tried everything recommended online but with no luck so far. BTW, I reinstalled CS5 and tried that too but it just hangs now, and there's no error message.

Does anyone have a solution?

(OS X 10.7.4)

Flash 'Unexpected File Format' Save corruption

Hello.

We recently upgraded to Windows 7 64Bit from Windows XP here at work, and since the upgrade i've discovered a very scary issue with Flash.

When going to save one of my large projects, often Adobe simply crashes outright, freezing up and displaying a standard error message.

"Adobe Flash CS5 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." - with an option for "Close program"

I hit close program, and Flash disappears. If I try and open that same FLA file again, I get the error message

"Unexpected File Format"

Unfortunately it seems since Flash is crashing in the middle of saving, it is corrupting my FLA file. This is extremely worrying, since it corrupts my entire source file.

I'm lucky I keep regular backups, otherwise I could have lost months of work instead of just todays. In the meantime I have been copying and pasting a new version of the file each time I open Flash, but it's a crapshoot whether next time I save if it will kill it or not.

Here's the details of my computer:

OS: Windows 7 - Recently upgraded from 32bit Windows XP

64 Bit Intel Xeon X5560 @ 2.80 Ghz

4GB Ram

The Flash CS5 version is 11.0.0.485

The FLA in question is 10MB, and contains some large map files (gifs), lots of small JPG's as well as a fair chunk of code as well as importing of external classes. I've tried replicating the issue on smaller files, and haven't been able to do so.

I was wondering if it was a case of not enough memory, but Flash appears to use around 450 mbs. About 40% of my total memory is free, according to the Task Manager performance.

Any ideas what could fix this issue?

html5 animation: Flash CC vs. Edge Animate?

Just curious, why would I want to use Edge animate to create html5 animation, when I could just make an animation in Flash CC, and then export as html5 canvas? Do both Flash and Edge basically render the same thing (in terms of html/css/js), or are there differences? Thanks!

Flash CS5 to ipa to App Store Desperate For Help

For 2 weeks I've been trying to publish a free convert apps I made in CS5 to the Apple App Store. I made it for Android, published it and got it on their Marketplace in mere moments. I then changed the coding to touch instead of click and got ready for the iOS Adventure.

I can't seem to find any solid step by step tutorials for this, all of them seem to be missing a part.

Steps on PC so far:

1. Paid Apple $99

2. Downloaded OpenSSL-Win32

3. Made certificate signing request

4. Got developer .cer

5. Made .pem file

6. Made .p12 file

7. Created AppID and Provisioning Profile

8. Transferred profile to iPad

9. Publish .ipa in CS5 using Developer Profile and .p12

10. Transferred to iPad and voila

[------------------------------------------------]

11. Used same certificate signing request to get Distribution .cer

12. Made .pem

13. Made .p12 Distribtion file

14. Create Distribution Provisioning Profile

15. Exported in CS5 using Distribution .p12 and Provisioning

16. Made profile on iTunes Connect and converted .ipa to ,zip

17. Realized there's no way to upload .zip from a PC

18. Dropped $1300 on a Mac

Steps on Mac so far:

1. Deleted all .cer files and provisioning profiles from Provisioning Portal

2. Used Keychain to generate new certificate request, developer and distribution provisioning profiles and .p12 files

3. Exported Developer version of CS5 .ipa, installed on iPad, works great

4. Exported Distribution version of CS5 .ipa

5. Used Application Loader and got "Unable to Unzip Application"

6. Changed .ipa to .zip

7. Double clicked .zip - Opened Payload Folder - Right Click - Compress

8. Used Application Loader and got "Application Failed Codesign Verification"

I've read books, watched videos and none of them seem to mention a concrete step by step process of going from Flash CS5 to the App Store. I have a feeling my Distribution profiles/certificates are the problem, but I can't find a solid resource to show me how to make them that actually works. Thank you so much to anyone who can help me, after 2 weeks of this I'm pretty tired of Apple.

Flash CC and google display network clickTAG

Seems to work fine but google is rejecting the adverts as an 'unsupported format'. It appears that Google will only accept SWF files up to 10.1 and the lowest you can export in CC is 10.3. I have downloaded 10.1 encoder and added it to the program XML files but still not accepting. My last hope was to open in CS5 or CS6 and that should work but I can't seem to be able to backsave or I don't know how. Any advice on this? The clickTAG I am using is below:

btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, onClick);

function onClick(e:MouseEvent):void {

          var click_url:String = root.loaderInfo.parameters.clickTAG;

          navigateToURL(new URLRequest(click_url), '_blank');

}

I need to sketch incredibly fast and loose. Flash used to work just fine but now it suddenly began drawing really crummy. I posted some examples of flash as well as Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, and ToonBoom Animate Pro which is another vector graphics tool. I thought the vector graphics may be the issue but that app seems to handle the drawing excellently (now if only it did the other things Flash can do). Here's some examples of how they're looking. It may be hard to tell in these already loose sketches but the performance drop is really a big difference in responsiveness between Flash vs the other apps here:

IMAGE EXAMPLE

http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l613/jedoralive/LINEUP.jpg

SYSTEM SPECS

ATI Radeon HD 4870

2x3 Ghz Dual Core Intel Xeon

8GB RAM

4TB HD

Does anyone know why my cintiq is causing flash to draw so poorly? And it is the exact same audio! I don't even know how that could be possible. Surely if you export a wav from Flash and then re-import it, it should be exactly the same.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers,

Rob

Hello,

Recently I've tried to create a projector for swf on Windows but noticed the Create Projector option was grayed out. I've tried both the default projector and projector debugger for Flash Player 11.3 on Windows XP, 7 32bit and 7 64bit and with newer swf files using the Molehill API and older ones (compiled for Flash Player 9), but with no luck. On osx everything works fine.

Has anyone managed to export a projector exe with Flash Player 11.3 on Windows ?

If so, how ? Any hints/tips are helpful !

Thanks,

George

Prroblems Exporting .MOV files from Flash CS5

I am having trouble exporting my animations created in Flash CS5 (or Macromedia flash 5, or CS3) to .MOV files. I'm having these issues on different platforms (mac and pc) and different operating systems (XP and win 7) - I only get error messages and out of memory errors, even on the fastest computer I have with 4gig of RAM working on a 2mg Flash file.

I just want to convert my Flash files to a format that can play on Youtube and standard DVD players. Also I've tried many converters (flash to video) - not all free (Moyea, Roxio, iWisoft, Winfx Video Converter, Amor, E.M. Magic, etc, etc) - nothing works. The main problems are either the sound is not synched, the playback is choppy, and the quality is awful.

I think my only hope of getting a good video is starting with a good .MOV file exported from Flash. I know the program is supposed to do this.
Any help greatly appreciated.

http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flash/cs/using/WSBC0687D4-42A6-445d-B5FF-8032C7D3A8FF.html#WS6 A15AAE2-C176-4161-BAB6-FB082F63B65Ba

Export to MP4 out of Flash

Hi,

The fact that this hasn't been implemented has somewhat shocked me but with all the MP4 usage out there (H.264 encoding) for iOS and web - with great compression capabilities, I'm surprised there isn't a native way to export directly to MP4 out of Flash. It really increases production time and increases hours when using the After Effects or exporting an MOV/AVI/FLV/FLA and using the adobe media encoder methods. Is there a way to streamline this so it will just export as it would any other video (Using the Adobe Media Encoder). I did see that the CC version is adding a feature that may do the trick if you can in fact export to the encoder and queue a series of MP4 conversions. That would be a huge help if that's the case, but is that how it will work? Please advise, since I still use Flash for a great deal of animation and batching multiple Flash files would save a ton of time (and lessen errors).

Thanks in advance for reading,

Peter

Flash CS6 Air to iOS "Edit Application Settings" menu not coming up. No way to publish to iOS.

Using a freshly re-installed and updated Flash CS6 on a 64-bit Macbook OS X 10.9.4. I've tried various combos of Air 3.2, 3.4, 14, and 15, since yesterday, and I'm getting the same result. Just two days ago everything about this setup was working flawlessly. I was compiling and pushing Air apps to my iPad for testing. Early yesterday morning I tried this and got a message that I didn't save, but was something along the lines of "This installation is not setup for this process" or something. Since then, when I click on the wrench to bring up the Edit Application Settings menu, nothing happens. This is true if I click on it next to target in the properties pane, or if I go to Air to iOS Settings from the File dropdown menu.

The other strange part of this is that if I open some older projects, I can get the menu to come up again. But on the project I was working on it doesn't. And if I create a new, blank FLA file and go straight to settings, it also doesn't work. And if I attempt it and it doesn't work, if I close the file that wasn't working it crashes Flash completely.

It seems like some database or cache is corrupt but I did a full uninstall (using adobe cleaner) and reinstall, and it's still happening. I found one old thread on google about this same problem, and the solution given was to delete Library/Application Support/iPadApp/Local Store/appDB.db, but I don't even have this file to delete.

Pretty much can't produce my content like this so I'm a sitting duck. Any info would be greatly appreciated. This is my first post here so I apologize if I'm missing something.

Adobe Flash CC Wacom pen issues.

Hi,

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga Ultrabook that has tablet functionality via Wacom. I have had no issue drawing within the Photoshop that I have had for months now, but when I just installed Flash CC, the tablet will not let me use the tablet pen to draw a line correctly. What it does is makes a long straight diagonal line every time I try to touch it to the screen, and then at the end of said line, it then will draw what I gesture with my hand. The problem is, its offset now to the end of the line, so it is completely unusable. It has no problem working if I were to use my finger on the touch screen instead of the pen, which is very strange.

Some things to note:

-Again, it works fine with the pen in other drawing apps like photoshop

-The issue persists with the default pen and a different brand pen that I frequently use.

-I have all my graphics drives updated

-I have the latest Wacom Feel it drivers

-I turned off all tablet settings that might interfere. Which shouldn't matter anyway if the pen works in other Adobe apps.

-I cant find a single thing online that comes anywhere close to what I need about this issue. I have no where else to turn! It seems like a Flash not being able to handle the tablet function settings.

-I am not a newbie to the Wacom functionality, so I have tried all of the obvious fixes.

Does anyone know of any fixes for this problem? I have the 30 day free trial of Flash, and I am not going to buy this if I cant get it resolved in the next month!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BUG - in flash pro CC, 'bold' and 'italic' properties of TextFormat have no effect on rendered text

Concise problem statement:

If you compile with flash pro CC, and use the 'setTextFormat' method of a TextField, the 'bold' and 'italic' properties of the TextFormat argument have no effect on the rendered text. If you compile with flash pro CS6, the 'bold' and 'italic' properties work as expected.

Apparently, with flash pro CC, the only way to make the text render correctly is to change the font name (add the suffix ' Bold', ' Italic', or ' Bold Italic'.) This means code which dynamically changes font styles only works in CS6 or CC, but not both. For example, if you use the 'bold' property the text renders bold in CS6 and regular in CC, whereas if you change the font name to add the suffix ' Bold', the text renders bold in CC and DOES NOT RENDER at all in CS6. This makes it difficult to transition a team from CS6 to CC.

Steps to reproduce bug:

1. Create an xfl with 2 TextFields on the stage, both with font "Trebuchet MS" and style "regular", one named boldTrueText containing the String "bold = true", one named fontNameText containing the String "fontName = Trebuchet MS Bold". I don't know why this behavior was changed in flash pro CC - it causes silent failures in code which dynamically changes font styles. I expected the flash pro CS6 behavior to remain the same in CC, like so:

With flash pro CC, "bold = true" renders bold, and "fontName = Trebuchet MS Bold" DOES NOT RENDER.

With flash pro CC, the following is traced:

fontName: Trebuchet MS, fontStyle: bold

fontName: Trebuchet MS, fontStyle: regular

If you don't want to break backward compatibility (any further), you could make both the behaviors work in flash pro CC, like so:

With flash pro CC, "bold = true" renders bold (font is still "Trebuchet MS"), and "fontName = Trebuchet MS Bold" renders bold also.

With flash pro CC, the following is traced:

fontName: Trebuchet MS, fontStyle: bold

fontName: Trebuchet MS, fontStyle: regular

fontName: Trebuchet MS Bold, fontStyle: bold

I submitted this bug with the bug form, and also with adobe bugbase (in case it isn't obsolete) - I'm just trying to maximize my chances of getting a fix. Has anyone else encountered this bug?

Shall I reinstall flash CC again or any other suggestion please ? thank you

How to create a drop shadow? Can't find filters.

I'm using Flash CS5 on Macintosh.

Googling has led me to maybe a dozen tutorials on creating a drop shadow in Flash, so I understand how the procedure is supposed to work. Select the object and then look for "Filters" and apply the "Drop shadow" filter. Simple enough.

But it seems that you can only apply a filter to an "object." The things I've been trying to create a shadow on are of type "drawing object." Everything else I've tried to create or import has some other name, and none of them have the Filters menu.

I'm embarrassed to have to ask about something that should be (and according to all the tutorials is) drop-dead simple, but I just don't see any way to create a drop shadow in Flash.

Can anyone steer me in the direction away from ignorance?
