Please help... I keep getting a pop up box about Shockwave Flash not responding.

For about 2 weeks now, I keep getting this pop up box that says:

Warning: Unresponsive Plugin

Shockwave Flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the plug now, or you can continue to see if the plugin will complete.

Everytime it happens which is muiltiple times an hour and on any web page that has flash I am assuming, everything freezes up before the box pops up, during and after for a few mins. Sometimes my browser does not unfreeze, and I have to open my task manager to close it down. I have tried finding ways to fix this, but no luck. I found this EXACT SAME question asked a few times in THESE forums, and no answers given to those people, so I HOPE I get the help here...

I am using windows 7 home premium 64 bit, & firefox is my browser. Everything is up to date, adobe flash ( 11.7.700.169 ), firefox ( 20.0.1 ), and etc... adobe flash IS enabled, same as the plugin.

Some of the things I have tried so far...

hardware acceleration - is already off

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling adobe flash many times, I have also tried this with my anti virus turned off first.

I even tried uninstalling adobe flash, and my firefox browser, then reinstalling adobe first, and then firefox after (I also did this in reverse, installing firefox then adobe flash)

*on other thing I wanted to mention is in my "flash player settings manager" under the advance tab, it says that "active x" is not installed.

How to play .swf files ?

I have some .swf files on my WIndows PC that I want to play.

The instructions on a website said to:

". . . play your flash files using the Adobe Standalone Flash Player. For this you will first need to Download the Windows Flash Player 9 Projector content debugger from the Adobe Site [Freeware].
There is NO installation needed. Just open the downloaded .exe and open your .swf from within the Projector.
In order to associate all .swf files to open using the Projector, right click the .swf file and "Open with" option. Once there, choose the location of your Projector.exe and you are done."

This worked ONCE. The next time I logged on, the computer could not play the files.

I'm thinking that this is because the programs referred to were not running.

So - how do I (i) find the programs on my PC and then (ii) create shortcuts so I can run them when I want ? I prefer not to have them automatically load at startup.

I downloaded Shockwave Player 12.1 but when I go to install it it asks "How do you want to install this software?" and it gives me the option of selecting my Mac drive but then gives me an error that says "Adobe Shockwave Player 12.1 can't be installed on this disk. Adobe Shockwave not supported on this OS version." But when I downloaded from the Adobe website I selected Mac OS X and the Shockwave 12.1.3.153 full version for OSX 10.6 and above. I have OS X Yosemite Version 10.10

It was working fine earlier today, on Google Chrome. But for some reason it stopped and now I get a something asking if i want to stop the plugin because it is not responding. I have tried to make it work on my own following some of the things i found only, and on here Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows and Flash Player Help yet nothing. I really need this fixed ASAP.

Missing Shockwave Decompression XTRA

A client is trying to use the British Museum website:

The shockwave applet halfway down gives the following error:
Missing shockwave decompression XTRA.
I have installed the latest version of Shockwave from the Adobe website.
Adobe website doesn't seem to have anything helpful in this regard.

I started to experience several blue screens per day shortly after that.

It looks as if Windows(or Adobe?) decided to do this 'swMSMS' reconfiguration by itself.

All ADOBE sw I have installed on my pc is freeeware (Flash Player 11 ActiveX, Reader X (10.1.1) - French, Shockwave Player 11.6, Flahs Player 10 Plugin).

I believe I also had ADOBE Air installed (I removed it since then) when the 'swMSMS' reconfiguration took place.

What is swMSMS version 12.0.0.1 for? Could this be a virus?

Can I install Shockwave for Linux?

If so, I have been having issues with getting it to install using the Wine Application.

For the past 3 weeks, I keep receiving the following warning:

I play farmville 2 on both the zynga and facebook websites. My shockwave player keeps crashing and is a very slow to load the game. This happens on all of the browsers I have used. Google chrome works better than some, firefox, icedragon and IE all are very slow to load the game and this take a lot of enjoyment out of the actual game play. Please help figure this out. I even keep clearing the cache and history, this does not help out much either.

So I'm trying to install shockwave player but when I get to the destination select part I can not click on any of the disk and continue.For the macintosh Hd disk it says : adobe shockwave not supported on this OS version

(I upgraded my macbook to OS X Yosemite a couple of days ago)

and on the adobe shockwave 12 disk it says Adobe shockwave Player 12.1 can't be installed on this disk.The contents of this disk can't be changed.

Prior to this I uninstalled the shockwave player.Oddly that took about 2 seconds to complete.

I really need shockwave for interactive videos for school.Everything used to work well but I don't know what happened.

yosemite chrome shockwave crash (daily)

Hi folks, ever since I upgraded my Mac to OS X Yosemite whenever I am using Chrome (which is always) Shockwave crashes sooner or later, every single day - sometimes twice.

Is there a fix for this?

I read some oldish stuff on this site http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/internet/3332967/how-stop-shockwave-flash-crashing-in-go ogle-chrome/ that says there is a conflict with the Shcokwave plug-ins for the other browsers and to delete them, but I use them too - sometimes at the same tiime.

Again, how to stop this?

Silent installation of Shockwave WITHOUT GOOGLE BLOATWARE and WITH ActiveX

I believe a lot of corporate admins are looking for the answer to this question from Adobe...

Q. How do we silently install Shockwave player on our coporate machines WITHOUT installing the GOOGLE BLOATWARE and at the same time ensure that the ActiveX is embedded with the browsers?

At this moment in time we are downloading and installing Shockwave centrally using the SLIM installers because the Full installers install the Google Toolbar bloatware. This is a dark road and Adobe going down this route is in my eyes no different from e-mail SPAM (We don't want it!).

However the issue with this installation is that the users still get prompted to install Shockwave and the associated Google Toolbar bloatware when they vist Shockwave enabled websites, even though Shockwave is successfully listed in Add/Remove/Programs. I believe this is because it's trying to install the ActiveX? This is no good if the users isn't an admin. Perhaps this is because we are using the Slim version?

Anyhow, Adobe, the question still stands....

Q. How do we silently install Shockwave player on our coporate machines WITHOUT installing the GOOGLE BLOATWARE and at the same time ensure that the ActiveX is embedded with the browsers?

I'm using the Shockwave ActiveX Control in a Windows Application. This works pretty well since a year ago. I've used Shockwave 11 and 12.0 successful. But yesterday i've updated to version 12.1r150 and now i'm getting an exception as soon as i call OLEIVERB_INPLACEACTIVATE (Access violation at 0791C5DB in Module 'SwDir_1210150.dll'). Even the Opera (20.0.1387.82) crashes if open this http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ page.

It looks like a bug in the Shockwave Control. Can anybody confirm this or has any advises for me? I'm using Win7 Enterprise 64Bit.

There is an online game called iSketch -- which is basically an online pictionary game -- that requires Adobe Shockwave Player. However, I and many other Mac users cannot play it for some reason. Whenever I try to play the game, this message always pops up:

"Shockwave Error

This Shockwave movie has errors that have caused playback problems.

Please contact the author of this content regarding this problem.

Shockwave is unable to continue."

Apparently, Mac users such as I have not been able to play the game since last year because of this problem. Today, I have downloaded the very latest version of Shockwave (12.1.1.151) hoping the problem would've been resolved, but unfortunately it hasn't. I have already tested to see if Adobe Shockwave Player is even working on my Mac, and yes, it is. I have tried playing the game in Safari, Firefox, and Google Chrome, but the game is still not working. I must say that it is very frustrating.

By the way, my Mac is version OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), and yes, the iSketch site has been aware of this issue since they were alerted about it last year.

I (and many others) would be exceedingly grateful if this issue can be fixed.

Windows XP Mozilla Firefox - Keep bogging down online, and getting error: "Shockwave Flash may be busy yadda yadda yadda. I stop the plugin, sometimes more than once is required, then unresponsiveness goes away. Also got the error "Shockwave flash for Director yadda yadda yadda. Went thru the steps to insure I have the most recent versions, with the antimations of moving clouds, and everything checks out as current. I know other users with different OS' are having the same problems so what is happening ?

I recently updated my system (PC, Windows 7, updated to IE 11), and the shockwave player needed to be updated. Tried to do that, but won't work. My system is 64 bit, but the IE 11 running is 32 bit version. Tried numerous ways to update, then I removed and tried to install new, but it still won't work. Help!

BTW, it also messed with my Adobe Reader within some programs, and I had to install a new one, which seemed to work okay.

I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro installed on this laptop.

I recently downloaded the adobe shockwave installer, and tried the slim and full version. Both times i got a

Need silent installation command line for Flash player 15.0.0.189 (EXE installer) for Win 7 x64 machine. I got msi installer file as well but that has 2 names the and also if anyone can let me know the difference bet install_flash_player_15_plugin.msi and install_flash_player_15_active_x.msi. If i am not wrong, both should be same.please correct me

So, first of all, this is my first time posting here. Thank you all in advance for reading this. I've read through all the troubleshooting pages on Adobe's site but can't seem to work my way around this. I do have Adobe Shockwave (not Flash) installed on my computer since I primarily use it for http://www.isketch.net which is an online form of Pictionary, rather ancient site, but still fun to play around with. Anyways, I have version 12.1.3 installed since June 2014. All of a sudden, tonight, the site tells me I need to install the plugin. I go and see it is already enabled under "Manage Add-ons" in the Tools section of my IE11 browser.

Also, I was thinking about uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that might help, but the get.adobe shockwave page redirects me to something about 64-bit browsers even though I always use 32-bit and am using it right now. So what options do I have here? Thank you in advance!

Recently upgraded to Yosemite OS X 10.10. Whenever Safari is opened, most sites have some sort of Shockwave needed. The most specific is Apple's. Whenever I open the homepage, Apple and the homepage to Dashboard Widgets, Apple - Downloads - Dashboard, I receive several popup windows

Hi all, I see the following problem on and off for years now, with Adobe Flash and in particular Adobe Shockwave Player.

I have a school that has a Windows 7 lab. Shockwave Player 11.6 is installed as part of the base image. It shows up in "Programs and Features"

After it was initially installed, I tested the plug-in by going to http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome and it worked fine.

The problem I'm having is with non-admin users. Our students aren't local admins. Say they go to a website that has Shockwave content, for example, http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/aso/tryit/dna/index.html

When I (with a non-admin student account) click on the link to play the Shockwave content, a pop-up window appears. Then IE 9 displays a message "This webpage wants to run the following add-on: "Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6" from Adobe Systems Incorporated. Allow/Allow for all websites?" I don't want to see this again, so I click Allow for All websites. Then I get another window: "Adobe Shockwave Player is now installing....Installing compatibility components." So far, so good. The problem is, once the installation progress bar gets to the end, Windows User Access control pops up prompting for an admin user account and password to complete the install. Since they don't have an admin account, the install can't complete.

How do I get Shockwave Player to "just work" for non admin users? I see for Flash there is this document at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/987370 about registry permissions, etc. Is there a similar solution for Shockwave Player?

Heey there,

I have encounterd an installation issue when I try to install Adobe Shockwave Player on MSIE 11 in Windows 8.1 (Update 1).

I neither cannot download nor installing it.

The Adobe FAQ tells me to use the 32-bit version of MSIE, but even then Adobe Shockwaves keeps refusing of being installed in this browser.

I am running Windows 8.1 (Update 1) on a 64 bit machine.

The current installed version of MSIE is: 11.0.9600.17351

I recently had to reinstall my hard drive and, thus, installed the latest version of Shockwave Player. The installation seemed to proceed normally; however, when I attempt to access a site that uses Shockwave, I get the following error message:

When I click OK, I get the error message:

Error playing Director movie.

I'm running Windows XP, with IE 8.0. I have attempted to uninstall Shockwave, but can't find it anywhere on my add/delete programs menu. All my other Adobe programs are there, just not Shockwave. I have attempted to reinstall Shockwave, and after clicking on "agree and install", it goes directly to "in order to install Shockwave, you must restart computer". Upon restarting, I'm back at square one: same error messages and no way to fix it.

I have been getting calls from my users that tell me that videos will not show up since they updated their Shockwave.

I have tested it here and with an older version of Shockwave, everything is fine but when I updated, the video no longer displayed.

The audio does play but no video.
Does the same on all browsers.

Adobe, please fix this asap!!!!!!

While upgrading from Windows Vista - Windows 7, I run windows7 upgrade advisor to check the compatibility as suggested by Microsoft. The report shows following issue.

We don't have compatibility information about this version of the program.

Get an update to a compatible version http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/

I updated the latest version from the above link suggest by Advisor, but still the same issue was showing. Closing looking the latest version of Adobe Shockwave Player is 11.5 and the issue was showing for version 11.0. Looking further, for all the programs installed in Control Panel - Programs, I found my system have both Adobe Shockwave player (11.0 & 11.5). When I use Shockwave Player Uninstaller (sw_uninstaller.exe) this uninstall only new version (11.5) and old version remains without logo.

Please help to uninstall Adobe Shockwave Player version 11.0.

The last time I had to deploy a Shockwave patch on a bunch of computers, I believe I called unwise.exe to uninstall Shockwave. Perhaps I'm just overlooking that file this time? Otherwise, how are the rest of you uninstalling mass installations of Shockwave in order to deploy this new version?

When ever I try to browse the web pages which need adobe flash player I get unresponsive plug in error message: " Shockwave flash may be busy or it may have stopped responding..." and after some time the plug in crashes.

I am using FIREFOX Version 21, Shockwave Flash Version 11.7.700.202

OS is Windows Vista SP2

I tried uninstaling and reinstalling flash player several times but no improvement.

Can somebody help please?

I'm trying to find out if I buy a (Acer) Google Chromebook (Linux platform?) with Chrome OS, will I be able to use the Adobe Shockwave Player? All I've been able to find is that the Flash Player is integrated into them, but nothing about the Shockwave Player. I'm currently using the shockwave plugin 11.6r626 on a Windows Vista 32bit OS with the Chrome Browser, and it works fine. I really want to buy a Chromebook instead of a 2nd laptop, but if I can't play games at shockwave.com (which uses the shockwave player), it's a deal-breaker. Can someone please help me? I've searched tons of chrome forums with no answer.

I am running my PC virtually everyday with Windows 7 while subscribing to MLB.com and watching games on Chrome. Frequently during games, Shockwave Flash Player plugin "crashes" requiring me to "reload" immediately to resume viewing the game. How can I prevent this from occurring?

ok might be an easy thing to do and i hope it is but i cant figure it out:

im running the silent install of the full installer of shockwave. its part of a big unattened script that we use to load our PCs at work. however the newest shockwave comes with google toolbar and it pops up and pauses the whole scrip until i come over cand click no. is there any command line switches to disable the googletoolbar from even coming up? /S doesnt seem to work neither does /passive or /qn.

This is not a unique issue, it started to happen on my PC about a week ago as well. It is not specific to any web page or URL, I'll just have tabs open and the Shockwave Plugin just sucks up memory until I get the error message noted above. A couple of times I've had to forcibly stop the plugin from Task Manager to get my PC to respond normally again. I've got the flash plugin version 11.7.700.169 which was just updated on April 21st. That is about when I started noticing the problems, so it seems clear to me there is an issue with that version. When will a fixed version be available?

I have windows 98se operating system with IE 6.0. My shochwave player that i had said that it needed to be update so i let it update, it the ntells me that my operating system is not supported by shockwave player 11. and to go to adobe .com to download a player that was supported. it was id=tn18629 which took me to player ,File Ver. SW851_installer_Full.exe. I downloaded the file. I then uninstalled all the previous players restarted mt system then in stalled the file. but it did not work adn I"v done everthing that your trooble shot page says but it still does not work. I'v paused virious programs, popupblockers, securities and I'v checked IE securities active x to make sure that there would be no problems. Can anyone please help me.

Tried using the newest stand alone uninstaller and it does not uninstall Adobe Shockwave player 12.1 on a windows 7 PC. Even though it says you have successfully uninstalled it, it says it is still installed in Add/Remove Programs.

I am running Win7/IE11. However, with a prior FLASH update problem, I had to delete Shockwave, using Adobe's 'uninstaller'. I was successful in updating FLASH, but when I try to reinstall SHOCKWAVE, the screen instantly flashes INSTALLATION COMPLETE (no progress bar at all). And Shockwave no longer appears in PROGRAMS & FEATURES. Plus, I get no 'animations' on Adobe's 'test' page.

Does anyone have any advice/directions for a clean and working install of Shockwave? And what is the latest version of Shockwave?
