Kuler is Color and other Important Updates

The service you’ve come to know, Adobe Kuler is getting a new name—Adobe Color CC. We are introducing this new name to better align with Creative Cloud and our emerging family of capture apps - Adobe Brush CC and Adobe Shape CC - which allow you to capture inspiration around you and easily bring in into your creative process across desktop and mobile devices.

But don’t worry, you will get all the same features as before. Plus, improved connections to Creative Cloud.

We’ve also made some important changes to the Color iPhone app.

Creative Cloud Libraries Support: You can now save your color themes to Creative Cloud Libraries—making them easier to access and use in desktop apps.
Updated Design: Adobe Color for the iPhone has a new look along with the new name. The camera and color wheel have also been updated to make them easier to use.
Coming soon, support for the iPad: We’ve also been busy working on an iPad version of Color—look out for this update in mid October.

How do I use themes with Adobe Illustrator®, Photoshop®, InDesign®, Fireworks®, and Flash® Professio

Creative Cloud users can access all their themes directly within Illustrator CC. To access your themes, open the Color panel by choosing Window > Color Themes. You can also access your themes and create new ones in the latest version of Adobe Ideas, Adobe Draw, Adobe Line, Adobe Sketch and more.

For users who prefer to explore and browse themes created by members of the Color community first, we recommend using the web site—where you will find robust search, filter, and browsing capabilities. Once you find something you like, simply mark it as favorite and then refresh your Color panel in Illustrator.

For Photoshop®, InDesign®, Fireworks®, and Flash® Professional:

Find the new Color panel by choosing Window > Extension > Color Themes . This new panel displays all of your public themes.

For users working on older versions of Adobe software (CS4, & CS5), Color themes can also be downloaded for use in Adobe software using the Adobe Swatch Exchange (.ase) format. To download a theme from Color, first make sure you’re signed in. Click on the theme you’d like and click Download. This downloads the theme as an .ase file to the location of your choice.

Note: The Kuler panel is no longer supported in CS2 and CS3.

Is Kuler App Going to be Rereleased on Android?

Back in December of 2012 Adobe discontinued a bunch of touch apps in favor of only keeping Photoshop Touch and Adobe Ideas. One of the touch apps sacrificed was Kuler on Android. Now, at Adobe MAX, it is announced the Kuler app is coming to iOS. Will we see it again on Android?

I was just introduced to Kuler, and being excited for finding a new swatch archive, I tried downloading a few for a project I'm working on. When I open them, they try to open in Illustrator (my project is in photoshop) and Illustrator says that the file isn't compatable? I have the CS5 Creative suite. Any help would be very appreciated!

What if you need more than (5) colors?

I'm working on a corporate training manual that will have (9) sections and I'd like a contrasting color for each. When I try to use Adobe Color it will only show a maximum of (5).

These colors will be used for Page Numbers, Topic Headlines and Subheads.

Any ideas?

CS5 Mac Kuler - Not connected to the internet

Hi,

I am having problems using Kuler on my Mac. I have CS5 master collection installed but Kuler just does not work. A colleague has the same suite installed and his Kuler works just fine! We have tried re-installing the suite but to no avail.

We have tried copying my installation on to his machine, as well as copying all preferences. But still it doesn't work!

We are completely stumped and require some assistance.

The machines does have internet access and I also have CS4 installed and Kuler works fine, it seems to be limited to CS5 and just on my machine.

Any ideas on how we can fix this?

Indesign unable to add theme to Adobe Colour

Successfully using the Adobe Color iOS App and on web and mainly on Mac as well - apart from Indesign - I'm able to add colours to swatches panel but NOT direct to Adobe Colour in order to access theme from other CC Apps/devices - any suggestions for how I can solve this? (I know it's only me this happens to, having asked a friend to try on his Mac!)

Kuler results don't match Photoshop and Illustrator results

Has anyone else noticed this?

For example if I type RGB 59, 67, 108 into Kuler I get these results.

CMYK 45, 38, 0, 58

LAB 29, 9, -25

HSB 230, 45, 42

HEX 3B436C

If I type RGB 59, 67, 108 into PH or AI I get these results.

Photoshop and Illustrator

CMYK 86, 78, 33, 19

HSB 230, 45, 42

HEX 3B436C

Photoshop

LAB 29, 6, -25

So the CMYK and LAB results do not match.

Exporting as REC 709

Alright, I'm not sure if this is a common question.

But I wanted to edit my media while looking at my footage as REC 709 for Color Correction purposes.

I know I can change my monitor view from settings to set as REC 709,

But how does one export as REC 709 using any Codec and Wrapper?

I only know that Avid's DNxHD can export in 709 gamma,

But is there a way to export in H264 with 709?

How do you do so in Premiere Pro?

Will the Kuler app be released for Windows Phone?

Kuler Extension in CS5?

I've recently installed CS5, Dreamweaver, PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign & Fireworks. All of the help areas say that the kuler extension is in Windows > Extensions, but it isn't. How do I load this extension??? Specifically, I need the extension in Dreamweaver. It DOES show in Illustrator, but no DW.

Adobe Kuler used to show RGB, CMYK, Hex and other values for every color. Adobe Color is showing only RGB and HEX. How do I get the corresponding CMYK values?

When I open the Color Themes panel in Illustrator CC (2014.1.0 Release), and click the "refresh" button, it only pulls in the themes I had saved on the web back when it was "Kuler." No new themes that I make (that show up on the web under "My Themes") sync with Illustrator. How do I get the new themes to sync?

(I've already logged in & out, restarted the programs and the computer, to no avail.)

Love the idea of Kuler/Adobe Color. I wish there was an option to switch the interface to light or gray. The dark background has a huge impact when choosing the brightness or saturation of a color. It would also be great to be able to limit the number of colors you're working with, or even figure out a way to mock up color hierarchy per theme in the app.

I hope someone can hlp me with this. I'm quite new to premiere pro, used it for only 2 years.... Still a beginner. Can you actually add 'live' key frames to the 'Fast Color Corrector' while you are playing the footage and constantly changing the colours by moving the colour selector thingy . So that I would get a constant change of mixed colours effects. TQ in advance.

I'm repeating a particular background image on each page of a calendar and would like to change its colors on each page. There are 2 gradients in the image which use a total of four different colors. I'm not at all skilled in color theory and was wondering if anyone can please tell me if there's an easy way to come up with harmonious color combinations that I can apply to the original Illustrator file? My shortcut solution would be to convert the color to grayscale and apply a color overlay, but the image just looks flat when I do that. I would prefer to adjust the gradients individually but just don't know how to find compatible colors.

I recently upgraded to Illustrator v18.1.0 for OSX. The Kuler panel is gone. It is not available in the menu list: Window. I don't see any other method to invoke the Kule panel. Was the Kuler panel deactivated in this release?

I am logged in to Creative Cloud and am logged in to Adobe.kuler.com.

I downloaded a color palette but its now showing up in (illustrator) in the tab after i refresh it. it works with color palettes i create but i cant download existing palettes.

I'm trying to import an ase swatch from the kuler site into flash, but when I try to "add colors" from the swatch panel, but it will not allow me to do so. The only information I have received form the adobe discussions is to use the kuler panel under window but kuler panel is not there. What is the problem?

Today we're launching the new site and making Kuler available on the App Store for iOS. We've worked really hard to make Kuler easier to work with and accessible on all your devices. And, we have a lot more planned. So, let us know what you think.

If you are an active Kuler user, you may notice a few pages and features missing from the new Kuler website. I’m writing to explain what’s missing, why it’s missing, and what you can expect to see in the coming weeks and months. Here's an overview of what you won't find on the new site:

Create a theme from an image: We know many users really like the “Create from an Image” feature. Unfortunately, this feature was not ready for the new site launch. So, rather than launching a buggy or half-baked feature, we decided to take a bit more time to get it right.

We intend to add this feature to the site as soon as it’s ready. Until then, you can use the free iPhone app to create themes from images.

Color space “slider” controls: We talked to a lot of Kuler users about the slider controls. Some users like them and others don’t. The main complaint we heard was that the sliders add unnecessary complexity and take up too much space.

So, we opted to not add the sliders and err on the side of making the creation experience simple. Though, we decided to keep the “brightness” slider control since some colors spaces don’t have a brightness variable. We'd love to know what you think. You can voice your opinion here on the forum.

Change the order of colors: In our research, we found most users did not know you could re-order colors on the old Kuler site. And, it’s actually quite a bit of work to build this feature. So, rather than re-building a feature many users don’t know about or use, we wanted to hear from you first. I created an idea for this feature on the forum. Please add your vote if you think this feature should be worked on immediately.

Avatar: Most of the users we talked with about Kuler avatars were indifferent. In fact, they asked us to focus on other features first. So, that’s what we’re doing--we're focusing on some of the most requested features first.

Community spotlight and Pulse: The Community Spotlight and Pulse were beta features that never really gained any traction. So, we opted to not continue with these features.

API: We're working to rebuild the Kuler API to offer more robust capababilities. Until then, we're no longer issuing new API keys. If you already have a key and are using the API, your service will not be interupted (your key will continue to work).

We’re always looking for feedback and would love to hear what you think about any of these topics—please join the discussion here on the forum.

I've tried downloading an existing theme and using it in AI CS2 but I get this message: 'The file "Bell Peppers.ase" is in an unknown format and its styles cannot be imported.' I've created .ase files through CS before and these have worked okay. Could it just be this theme?

Complementary color rule

Hello.
I was using your application and i realize that the rules that you are using to find the complementary color is different than the rule that I know and find it everywhere I was looking.
I was using the base color FF00FF (rgb: 255,0,255; hsv:300,100,100) and the complementary color find it by your set of rules is 59FF00 (rgb: 89, 255, 0; hsv: 99,100,100). The rule for the complementary color in HEX is FFFFFF - FF00FF that means 00FF00. The rule in HSV for the complementary color is adding 180 to the hue if the hue is smaller than 180, or subtract 180 if the hue is bigger than 180, which means that the complementary color is hsv: 120,100,100. 00FF00 is the same color with 120,100,100.
Is there something that I miss?
